I'm Italian and there are things I would probably never say.
The problem with Italian is that we have different registers. Take for example "Spiacente", If a friend steps on your toe, you won't ever tell him "spiacente" for he would think you're talking to his grandma or something. :D
Some of these expressions are quite strange for italians to say.. maybe it could be some dialect... essempio could be who every could say "Salute e felicità" ???
In my opinion if you just wanna study some italian you should not learn nothing from this video. Maybe just the accent. The video could be confusing. There are no mentions about logs ( I don't know how to say in English ). Sometimes when we (italian) talk with an old person we use "lei" instead of "tu" (that means - you -in both cases). Just watch some Italian film - often bad film I think.
prego = you're welcome while di niente = don't mention it (or something like that. You can use it when you do a thing with pleasure, without effort, to your guest, for example)
per favore = please ( I dunno why they translate in the other way, but maybe is a special case...I don't understand the english explanation, sorry)
@NJBZX That was my point. Why can an American with some German blood refer to himself as American whereas an American with some Italian blood must claim to be Italian or Italian-American? That's the same treatment that blacks receives: African-American instead of simply American.
Che popolo di imbecilli razzisti... E mi sta sulle palle quando leggo "sono italiano": non sanno nemmeno puntare sulla piantina lo stivale. Che rivendichino la loro vera nazionalità piuttosto!
Actually I've mostly seen ppl with mixed blood claiming only the remote Italian side... See Jersey Shore. Some had not even one single drop of Italian blood in them...
XD It's wonderful someone's interested in Italian ... L'italiano è una lingua bellissima, anche se è un po' difficile... L'inglese è più facile ma come musicalità è migliore l'italiano ^_^ bye bye from Italy
@lizziesuperstar1 i can totally understand what you said but unfortunately i can't reply in italian .i am lebanese but because i know frensh it's easy to understand italian . you said : italian is a nice language, but a little bit difficult, english is less easier because of music. last sentence im not sure i got it . ciao :)

"ci vediamo" is informal - "arrivederci" is formal. You never say "arrivederci" to a friend or relative.

@LouiseHans10 its True many European heritage don't usually say im --- American.
But some do like Italian, i know some italians that don't say im It-american.
some have more than one heritage so they just say American
I have Hungarian & spanish heritage But i have never refered to myself as an "Hungarian American"
either way were are all American with some kind of Hetritage.
studying any other Language from our Heritage or others is always good to do.
