  • Skunk: You're right that they aren't salamanders. They aren't closer to salamanders than to frogs, though. Salamanders and frogs form a group called Batrachia. They're more closely related to each other than either is to a caecilian.

  • Frogs, salamanders, newts, and toads, caecilians...

Doin' that funky thing that we call

    "the amphibian"

They're cold blooded in every way

    Yes they are

They don't keep the same temperature all day

Sometimes they can't see well, when it's dim

    They're not reptiles

    They're amphibians

  • I've seen these (or perhaps a subspecies) in pet shops as a "rubber eel". It's actually a legless salamander.

  • All the information is on the signs at the exhibit, but visitors keep calling them swimming snakes.

Your comment made me realize I should have added that these are legless salamanders in the video description.

Your comments are always appreciated - Thank you!

  • They are not legless salamanders, thier an entire different classification of amphibian, but their more related to salamanders than frogs or toads.

Great video!!!!!!!! I love Caecilians! I have one in my tank
