I love Swing too, but this is such a superbly sleazy sounding track. I only ever met one kindred spirit in the 80's who loved them as much as I did......I've got to go to bed but I keep listening to old Japan stuff!!
Bloody great track!!!! I heard this on a recent live release via the internet. Brill song!!!!! Love the live version too....Such a bloody good live band!!!! So many lassies would be dropping their knickers to this band had they been around now.
Reggae without any warmth or inviting groove (Rhodesia!), a guitar solo towards the end that never takes off because the other instruments will not play along. Clichés molested. Artrock at its chilling best. A kindred spirit of the most wicked poem of Baudelaire.
: ) Great band, thanks for posting this material. Can you post other tunes off "obscure alternatives" this whole album is worth the exposure on this site. H.P.H. ( Health, Prosperity and Happiness )
Thank you! I was beginning to think I was the only person who remembered these guys... But in reality: my friends are just lame!! AHAhahahhahahaha!!!
Same here whirlspinner: keep your eye peeled for sirdewdalot: he spews bile at me, japan (what can you expect from a "dude" who prefers dd to japan) and everything else in sight. he calls me a wal-mart dyke, a faggot: you will find his comments highly amusing, a sort of side-show. (even though i dearly wish he would fly away like the buzzard that he is)
I agree with you on the Jazz front .... Dave, sort yourself out!!!!
This tune is bloody brilliant, one of my all time faves. Thank god for YouTube ... I thought I was the ONLY Japan fan left ... it's so good to see comments from likeminded individuals :-)
Thank you for posting this. I lost all my vinyl in a flood a few years back and my Japan collection was affected. This is my favourite song of theirs!
One of their best songs ever

This reminds me of The Bogus Man by Roxy Music. A very good thing indeed.

As usual, the Japan track I think was their best is missing! Suburban Berlin! Where is it? "Please..."

Just - well - incredible. No one could cover this - without being arrested and, more importantly, without fucking it up.
I hate that. Where are the truly brave ones now? 30 years after this genius? Will anyone cover the brilliance in this shitty 21st century??
We've learnt precisely nothing when we should have learnt how to live.
