Good question, do we not have to? If this is not educational, I wouldn't care much.
As an educator, one must understand the importance of accuracy and the respect to different languages. If one doesn't respect the root of words, in particular, the names of the great, then one really shouldn't be teaching it.
I made the same mistake as you did in the past, getting the exact pronunciation error and taught the word wrongly for half a month. But I corrected my mistakes and made the amendments.
bosch sch没问题,但是o发错了。Levi Strauss(R)可以强调,但是Porsche(R)没听谁特意发的。不要误人子弟了。

你的德語發音還可以更好.不過有些需要苦練!
R你發不出來.
Bosch的sch..你念成英語的sh..,
Levi Strauss.. (R)
Porsche(R)
Schwarzkopf(sch捲一點).
語言需要苦練.你可以更好.

@schmidtwangtainan 德文的sch跟英文的sh的確是一樣的, 如果你發的不同, 那只是個別差異

@schmidtwangtainan 我非常認同你的講法, 但如果樓主不願意接納別人的意見, 那就算了吧

Levi Strauss was born in Bavaria, Germany, Strauss is a common German name.

I'm talking about "Levi", not "Strauss"

So? If he's German and he regards his name German then his name is German. Do we have to trace the history of every single word indefinitely?

If this series of clips are not your production, then you can just forget about what I said.
Levi Strauss was born Löb Strauss in Buttenheim. As a German-Jewish, Levi was a name that traces back to his Jewish origin.

Levi is Levi no matter it is German or Hebrew, in IPA it is /levi/, don't complicate matters.

Well, as far as I know, it is not.
Let the public speak for the truth.
lx3h1981 2 years ago
if you know it is NOT, you should know how it IS pronounced. please kindly advise in that case.

just found that i made a mistake here
Levi Strauss should be "Levi Str-AAU-ss", AU as in English OW-l, not "Levi Str-AA-ss"
This is the same in Bauhaus, which is also a German word
