Both songs composed by Alan Menken (my love), but Howard Ashman (A DISNEY GENIUS) wrote the lyrics to "A Whole New World" (he did most of Aladdin, and ALL of Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid) and Glenn Slater did all the lyrics to the Tangled soundtrack. So yes, he should be very proud to stand in the place where Howard Ashman would have been had he not passed years ago. :) /Disneyfreakrant

@crazyboy92758 True. The makers of this movie too. I thought Disney spirit had passed with hand-drawn movies, but this movie has at once become one of my all time favorites. I adore the charachters, the humor, the beauty of it, the sound of it. All things that make it Disney. It's magic. Rapunzel reminds me of Ariel alot. It does not matter that is not hand-drawn, that would not have made it better. This is one of those movies to which I would not like to see anything changed.

But I think the Academy does like "apology awards" where if somebody who deserves to win loses to someone else one year, they'll just throw them an Oscar on the next project they do.. So Menken got screwed over for this masterpiece because Newman got screwed over a few times for some very deserving songs/scores.. I mean, Alan Menken has plenty of Oscars.. but.. I think he deserves all of them and more.. <3

@mariguingui Even though Randy Newman is an Oscar winner for The Best Song "We Belong Together" from Toy Story 3. But "I see the light" is the best song since Disney hasn't made another song with Alan Menken who composed the song and Glenn Slater who provided the lyrics, with these two working together the songs for Disney will be touching.
