@DAYD111 I agree- I think Avatar takes some notes also from Pocahontas as well- with the whole seeing the colours of the wind and seeing animals as a different kind of people as well, as well as the Indians vs invading pilgrims storyline- but thats just me going off on a tangent.

@DAYD111 people kept saying fern gully and Pocahontas, true, but It was mostly similar to Atlantis, I remembered it well, they go to a new world, they try to figure out about the heart of atlantis, Rourke takes Kida with the heart like soldiers getting unobtainium, and the atlantians fighting back against the soldiers and Milo joining their culture. Avatar mostly took things from Atlantis, I agree with you right there

Kida is such an underrated member of the Disney royal court; she has enough strength to be admired without being thought too pushy, and also enough innocence to make her easy to relate to.

How else noticed that after this movie, disney went downhill? Lilo & Stitch came after this. Cute, great, i liked it. Then came Treasure Planet- adventorous, still going....brother bear, cheesy but average.....then Chicken Little, home on the range were all 3D thingies that were designed on computers and not pictures. After Chicken little and home on the range, everything went downhill. >:(

@mangastar666 The plot of this and Avatar are very similar, but both are dirivatives of stories from long ago. The premise has been done many times before: humans encounter new world and/or species, one part of humanity wants to embrace the new culture, the other part wants to manipulate and extort or destroy it, showing the conflicted nature of our species.

But it's told pretty well in this film, I always thought this was an underrated animation, and anything to do with MJFox is ok with me!
