  • Where can I get the music???!!!!

  • @JDogMacias no where. HBCU drumlines donot write out their material. well most of threm dont. you will just have to learn by ear or have someone from the drumline to teach it to you

  • So are we saying that DCI ensembles dont have fun? That argument is dumb. VSU, NSU, SCSU & BCU's drumlines are ALL cleaner than this. Are we saying that they're not "having fun?" The eff outta here with all of that. It's just an excuse to remain lax.

  • It's so awesome that this was featured in the movie Drumline!

  • this is the same drum cadence in the MOVIE drumline in the final battle scene in between before the final battle i recognize snare section and tomms

  • @rockywb00 duh

  • @rockywb00 well every cadence you heard in the movie drumline is a real cadence. and this video hear was made like a year or so before the movie was filmed. all the bands you saw in the movie drumline are real bands except for atlanta a&t that was a high school band playing them along with the actors

  • don't care what no one say NO COLDEST DRUMLINE OF ALL TIME the only thing stop them was money problems

  • wow this is the thing from the movie drumline!

  • @earogon69 YES IT IS MY GOOD MAN....YES IT IS

  • @earogon69 his college band was around way before the movie drumline. all the cadences you heard in the movie drumline have been around since thoe schools drumlines existed. morris brown is indeed a real school.

  • Well fuck what every one else has to say about cleanliness. The point is that they were featured in a movie that damn near if not revolutionized how people looked at marching bands. It may sound wack but I even joined the band because of this movie.....and alot of others did the same also.!! the point is they helped contribute to the marching band culture. N look out for drumline 2 its being filmed in Richmond VA and i plan on being there!!!

  • @MrMikeezy Well if you're gonna join a marching band, it should be to better yourself as a drummer and for the fun of it. It shouldn't sound like dirt, like this does. And you can make it all sound clean when you put the time and effort into it, which it sounds like these guys don't, and still have fun. Just look at the Blue Devils. Everything with them is clean and they still have fun.

  • @joewhiteguy11 stop comparing DCI type dumlines to us i had the chance to play with a core style DCI band in High school and a Showstyle marching band for college both are equally hard u fuck heads.. geez.. for what core style gains in being clean a Technical they lack in showmenship and groove.... showstyle marching bands have a challenging time with sticking and dances and making grooves... half the ppl. on DCI cant dance and wont make it... same with show bands no clean chops..damn so stop

  • @joewhiteguy11 dude one this is is very old and two this is a college drumline that practices after classas well as in between classes for a semester. these types of lines dont even have time to really perfect anything. whenyou are in show style marching band you are learning and memorizing 50+ new songs eacweek cause their book is always canging. also the cadenceyoueard was learned by ear just like most show style drumlines.

  • this the same one off of the movie drumline

  • @cmbuvi92 its the same school....

  • @cmbuvi92 Yes. Its actually the same members too

  • Im not critizing MBC them boys got style but i just got 1 question for errybody: Do you think its right to sacrifice cleanliness (sp?) for showmanship?

  • dis off of da movie drumline

  • @StanthemanTran dude for showstyle lines this is good enough their gpal isnt to sound perfect their only goal is to entertain that's it. and this is from 2002 so i donot know why you're hating on an old video

  • Ummm...its ignorance. Don't put words in my mouth. Did I say one word about DCI??? WTF? isn't it everyones goal to play clean and accurately?

  • @tblade92 Are you basing your opinion off what your are hearing? Show Style band tune their drums to give off the sound of a war drum, so to most DCI people a show style drumline will always sound dirty. Yeah, thanks for correctiong me on the spelling of ignorance, I was not thinking.

  • @tblade92 no not really. for showstyle bands as long as its entertaining for both them and the crowd then its ok for them no matter what it sounds like

  • @tblade92 not really. in hbcu land if its not entertaining thendont do it. in dci it is if its not clean dont do it. also if hbcu drumlines spend all their time being clean the wouldnot have anything to perform when it is time to perform

  • OMG, snares that was horrible...talent?

  • @tblade92 Please don't come on here with your ignorants. Don't try to compare DCI to Show style because it's different style's with two different goals.

  • @SHINE912 finnaly someone understands that

  • I think this was the only section that MDFS wanted that year. They were the only section that used the drop tenor drums that had there own cadances. I have a friend who marched at Savannah State and played tuba. Joe Dirt?

  • "Drumline" much??

  • @bolingbball44 this is the school from the movie THE REAL ONE. and this is the cadence that they put in the movie. >.>

  • @bolingbball44 duh! this is the school from the movie.

  • @17maybebaby actually this school exist in real life as well and they use to be the band everyone wanted to join but after the movie came out the school went down hill but the school was already having problems before the movie though.

  • @bolingbball44 this is the real morris brown college from the movie drumline. and all the cadences that were used in that movie were out before the movie came out

  • you chould rerecord this. this is good

  • dude you know morris brown is beast anyways its not like you can beat them now that video was from 2006

  • that vid was from "02 brutha man

  • everyone knows morris bown band sucks

  • i love the cadence.. but DAMN its called a digital camera dude!

  • wow does showstyle bands ever practice?? maybe they tried sightreading!!!

  • I'm mean sure DCI sounds clean and perfect and hard but its not as entertaining as showstyle. I would pick showstyle over DCI because even though you may not sound that clean as experts want you to be. Your still having fun with playing music and thats all that matters. I think the best drumline is the one that has the most fun out of what they do.

  • @Diachi26 Who says those in DCI aren't have the time of their lives? If that's what counts then it puts SCI and show bands on the same level as far as having fun. But then DCI is much cleaner, and, to most people, more entertaining. All show band drumlines have are beats, with some fills, and lots of dirt. yippee. -_-' and it doesn't even have to be DCI, there are plenty of college drumlines that aren't show style, they may not be 100% perfectly clean but still.

  • @Diachi26 i don't know. Samurai was pretty damn entertaining

  • @Diachi26 Being clean is King in DCI. As a spectator, I am no expert at Drumming but I can appreciate DCI for it's cleanliness and approach to the drum. Not that I'm knocking "showstyle" drumlines, it's just that people look for completely different things when it comes to entertainment. For me, a piss clean roll is just as entertaining as a good groove, to each their own.

  • @Diachi26 and that would be Bethune Cookman Percussion section...they serious and fun...!!!! lol dey so clean and dey are very creative...look at da 09 feature they did...perfect example..

  • @Diachi26 I strongly disagree you dont have to do all the bumpin and grinding to be entertaining

  • dirtfest, if you are going to try to entertain at least make it sound good...

  • I respect both sides, dci and showstyle...All though I wish more HBCU's would take a dci approach to drumming meaning pay attention to stick heights, and cleaning up there rolls etc...Like NSU does...But im not downing either side...I Come from a showstyle line but I eventually Wanna do Corp also....

  • @P3RF3CTCH09S dude you cant put dci in front of a black crowd. the band will get booed coming on the feild , during the show, and coming off the feild thats why hbcus do what they do. black people dont like that classical junk

  • I said Drumming not the band...I can't even watch dci bands. But drumming i can....And when i said DCI approach i said stick heights, and cleaning up rolls and stuff...Its showstyle lines that do that Nsu,SCSU sumtimes..Im not talkin bout revamping they style im just sayin paying attention to little details it looks more clean when everything is on point thats all im sayin....I march showstyle and probably will be marching at a HBCU in the fall..........But i think you can only b a full

  • oh i see. when i read tiur comment i thought you meant the entire band, but i see your point they could clean it up. and i do like nsu and scsu sound sounds so much advance than what we have in the south

  • Yeah thats what i was sayin..But i know what ya mean you cant bring the blue devils to the florida classic that'll be a ugly site lol..And I like nsu and SCSu 2,but i still gotta go with COokman drumline...they blend both styles real good, flashy and technical.....cant go wrong with that....

  • percussionist until you've done both styles, like most of the HBCU percussion instructors....BCU-Pedro Orey SCSU-Tim Greene,NSU-William Beathea....I love my hbcu Percussion sections im just sayin be versatile....And im talking bout percussion sections not the bands...again

  • @347826able DCI isn't all "Classical" know what you are talking about before you speak. And the only reason they would get negative reception and people would dislike it is because it isn't simple enough for them and they can't handle it.

  • @XylussN dude when was the last time you've heard a dci band play a popular tune on the radio or their drumline play something like this shown in the vedeo. my answer would be never. i know what im talking about ive marched a dci type band in high school and we got booeed becasuse of the music they played

  • @347826able Music isn't split up into Popular Tunes you hear on the radio, and Classical music. Good literature spans classical music and further. And it can't helped that the majority of people can't handle good literature/ Which is why you got booed.

  • @347826able For the record I don't think showstyle is the wrong way to go, But poor playing and a mediocre selection of music to play, Simple trite arrangements. There can be and are good showstyle bands that play well through all sections, this band is not an example of that.

  • @XylussN i know but in 2002 or any time before the movie drumline came out they were the best. they were and some what still the most respected hbcu band. cause of there success

  • DCI music maybe kind of hard but it doesn't mean ya'll sweet ya'll still suck. Come to a Black College so we can teach ya'll how to march. lmao

  • so much dirt. goddam this is horrible. DCI isn't only hard but it sounds good

  • DCI is only the world championships for marching, thats how bad we suck.

  • Comment removed

  • It's best to have all the fact before you speak. The woman who was president at the time the incident happened was involved in a scheme involving federal financial aid and student loans. The school is not now, nor has it ever been shut down. What happened was not due to poor academics or anything else, other than the greed of a handful of people.

  • honestly, showstyle is dirty as fuck!! but then again its freakin fun =]....my high school is half show harf corp. we do corp stuff while having this kind of fun...the difference is that we dont sound this dirty hahaha

  • Sounds like more show rather than good chops.

  • well this is very rough....

  • this sounds really bad.

the one they do in the movie is WAY better!!!!!

  • DIRT ASS ROLLS!!!!!!!!

  • i use to think DRUMLINE was the shit! once i started watching DCI lmfao i think i threw out the fucking movie.

  • dci is boring

  • how about you try playing the kind of stuff you see in DCI...the say its boring....good luck with that...

  • well i played a mix of dci with show in band camp,,it was tight cuz it was complicated but it also had a groove to it,, but id rather do show over dci anytime

  • it does sound kinda messy

  • no wonder this fucking cadence is called destruction.

it sound like a fucking PILE OF SHIT!

  • supa dirty

  • dirty as SHIT!

  • Does any one know y morris brown band program got shut down in 03

  • the school had financial problems

  • i think cuz sombody was takin money out of skool funds illegally and they lost a lot a creditability and money bcuz of that, and the school ended up getting shut down(I THINK!!!)

  • It waznt the school dat got shut down it waz jus the band program

  • The entire school is done.

  • this is way to sloppy to be a college line 4 real come on morris brown yall better than this .hold on maybe its the camera

  • I am pretty sure cleanliness comes first for dci bands

  • yes. because anyone could do this. A corps line would sound like this if they were sight reading it. it's only impressive when it sounds like one drum with the power of nine. DC lines are focused on quality while college bands focus on "the beat". However.... to give college lines slack, they don't get to practice 24/7 for an entire summer. And one more thing. I think college bands have a different kind of fun. Corps people take pride in perfection while these guys are just drummin which is cool

  • corps and showtime drumlines are 2 completely different things, so for one its hard to compare the 2. second they take pride in their stuff other wise they would'nt practice the way they do. i have been to a corp practice the beats were technical thats all i can say, i dont know, but i would prefer showtime over corp.

  • i did not kno this was a real cadence

  • this was actually played in the movie drumliine

  • what movie?

  • drumline these college student were in the movie

  • shit i thought it was a block instead of a cadence

  • GO TRUMPETS!!!!!!!!!

  • Man I love this cadence!

  • I SO agree with you forest601! I'm so glad someone else out there has the same thoughts as me! Corps style to the day I die man...

  • corps style is a whole hell of alot harder to play. try playing inverted flam taps then flamacues or maybe even milfs. yea show style is awesome and more entertaining but corps style is alot more technical than just playing rolls and 16th notes. its easy to play 16th notes and shit like that til you throw flams and drags in it. being a show style dline is great dont get me wrong but throw some dci rudiments in it and that drumline will be untouchable.

  • snares sounded like rain dropping on a tin roof

  • @Andman02 I definitely agree...I play in the percussion section at FAMU and we have fun at everything we do...Would not trade it for anything in the world...hubba 100!!!!

  • @Andman02 sooooooooooo, is that a good thing???????

  • @Andman02 ...funniest thing I've real all day. Not even about whether I agree with you or not, just a hilarious remark, regardless. LOL.

  • snares need work.....

  • MAJOR!!!!!!!! haha

they sucked ass on that huge roll.

  • slipknot1360stfu dci cant touch showsyle and you know it.better yet put up your video of your drum line playin or go hide yourself!!!=[

  • yall sunzuvbitches on here wit pointers n critisism put up your video so we can see how good u r. until den STFU!!!!

  • yall sonzuvbitchez on here wit pointres put up your vid uv u playin betta.den well see who can play until den STFU!!!

  • i did look at mine and check it out

  • does anybody kno what the name of the second cadence morris brown plays in the drumline movie i wanna see the real morris brown play it

  • its called X-Factor

  • For the record let it be known that I have marched both show style and corp at the college level. In my opinion, I think that corp style is more complex and difficult than show. Why, because corp requires a lot more technique, and for you to have chops. Looking over music from my show band days, its very "elementary" compared to my current music. It also evident in the cleanliness of the lines. I will agree though that show style is more entertaining in certain instances. Chops 1st, visuals 2nd

  • I agree. I'm still in high school and I can tell that what we play is more difficult.

  • i play tenor as in the single drum and show style is way more harder. their isnt any sheet music. u are taught ur parts from somebody showin them to u. and theres alot more visual kinda stuff like stickin and tassels for the tenors that make it look better and alot harder to play too so showstyle is better

  • You do realise drum corp used to do that also? Thats how it began, but then they discovered the wonder of learning music, it helps, IMMENSLY, and anyone who claims to be a musician and cant read music isn't.

As for will shoot first, Im glad you didnt blow up in my face going SHOW STYLE KILLS. But I will also disagree with you, I believe that corp style involves much more demanding drum pieces, and drill pieces. Along with much more diverse steps, 6-5,4-5,7-5, while show uses mainly 8-5 steps.

  • i think were both right and wrong here. i talked to a friend today and they did say drum corp has stickin but its no where near as complex though. im not the kind to argue. we both made good points bout each and im glad u werent a dick towards me either. i agree bout the harder music for corp but i think people have more fun playin and watchin show style. it all just depends on wat u like though.

  • i think that show style is alot more amusing for people that arent percussionist, while corps style is alot more entertaining for percussionist, becasuse they understand the difficulty of the music and having 10 people play it perfectly together. show style just looks fun and that entertains those who arent musicians

  • I played both corp and showstyle. the ONLY reason corp is clean is because almost everything is basic. ive been to a D1 dci comp and the skill level is the same. people hate on the movie drumline but didnt go to the deleted sences and seen that corp band look elementary. dci over show style? naw

  • I agree UGAbound, alot of negative comments but nobody is postin videos to validate their hating.

  • its eh, they sacrifice a lot of cleanliness and chops jus for visuals....id say to clean up the chops first, THEN add visuals

  • I just read a lot of the old comments about this clip... it's a lot of haters out there, but I think this is nice! If you've seen better than this, post it and see what people have to say.

  • i love this beat

  • messy on the movie.

    messy on this video.

I've heard high school lines play harder music cleaner.

get behind a pad. learn your rudiments.

  • SO MESSY! why cant the tenors begin together!

  • @creepyoleman this a HBCU line their only goal is to entertain. the crowds they play for dont know nothing about what a marching band is suppose to sound like. they not trying to be perfect most of them arent even music majors

  • any 'military style' percussionist could easily do what these guys can. Its sad that the U.S. watches drumline and believes that movie IS drumming. Far from it

  • your sad for being polish. i been to poland. what a dump. and stfu about the u.s.

    hater.

  • like all white pieces of shit i encounter on these comments.

drumline based off of a HBCU band and drumline.

    not DCI.

and we all know how dci poepl tend to be conceited about what there bias to.

  • It doesn't take a world champion percussionist to know what dirt sounds like.

  • Yall Talk About Mo B But I Bet You Cant Out Chop Any Of Those Cats...You probably Cant even out chop their tenor drum players and quint players...they were actually reserve snare players fools...So u dont know the deal when It comes to the Sticking Sensation...watch What you say...BEWARE OF THE RETURN..TO REVIVE THE AUC!!

  • Ok, that shows right there how show bands work. I'm willing to bet the DCI cats could kill these guys, you don't walk away with nothing from 12 hours practice everday. DCI cats will kill these guys, anyday.

So, If what your saying is true, the tenor drum and Quad players are all backups to the snare, and not as good, that dosn't speak to well for the line. Especially if the snare line sounded like that. That shows they are weak from within.

  • I beg to differ. i have played both styles and showstyle is far more complicated than corp. in corp, all i have to do is read music and dut to mark time and basicly walk. showstyle you read, learn visuals, march, and the only complicated litirature that dci cats play, show cats play for fun. Search CREAM drum corps....i promise it will blow your mind. but i love corp style cuz its all fun.

  • this is nasty as crapp..its not even the sound quality that makes it bad..its the caky as playeres that think they are the shit..

    they suckk ass

  • real tlk doe dis is a guud line.n BrownsnBucks is rite.

  • that shit sucked i can play a better roll now and i messed my wrist up

tha shit isnt clean dum ass

  • for all of you military style percussionist, eat a dick! i grew up thinking the same thing "these southern or black bands have no discipline and order" look at the precision mixed with the flow. bottomline if most "white" bands try and do music like this they would fall flat on their face, but something tells me if you hand a college like Morris Brown the sheet music to one of our "traditional" songs they could probably out do us on it.

  • individually maybe, but can they play it cleanly as a line?

  • How do you figure if white bands did music like this they would fail at it?

I don't know if you've really stuidied a DCI video, I've realised, Not only can DCI drummers outplay this "drumline" they can out do them visually

  • i thought this shit only existed in Drumline the movie.

  • ok all the genius drummers on hear talkin about the sound quality, first of all its being heard thru a video camera mic. second as u can see the video itself is crap. in person this drumline is the shit and u could learn a lil something. its a video on youtube assholes!!!!

  • That was the worlds best dirty roll EVER!!!!

  • disgusting...

  • So dirty...how can you stand that shit?

  • Dirtiest double strokes

  • is this school open or closed ?

  • Slipknot sucks

  • Oh I see Terrence77477. The Sticking sensation back in the day snares were always crisp. MBC was known for that powerful drumline. Are you a Drummer?

  • The Snares Sound Horrible..... Their Open Rolls are not crisp. Its Like Popcorn Popping... Not so good for a College drumline. They were not always like that.

  • its the audio

  • Man, how do people say this stuff compares to the big dog things that corps bring, like "the ditty" or some I and E solo

Its to damn dirty, and so damn disrespectful, The battling shit, so dumb and disrespectful when these guys do it

Probably help clean up the line if they would get rid of half of the members, oh yea, morris brown closed anyway

  • You need to get your facts straight-Morris Brown is not closed.

  • Ok sorry, their holding on by a thread

  • shut da fuck fuck pussy the audio is probably messed up dumbass

  • shut the fuck fuck?

    wow

    learn to talk first

  • you guys suck...you cant roll for shit shitt......

listen to how dirty that iss it sound like rainhitting a windoww...

that how badd itt suckk...black drumlines suck

  • its the audio....its was much better on the movie

  • yeah a MOVIE

  • Dat shyt raw

  • damn!!! that quint solo was fuckin awesome!!!! those niggaz got skill!!! good job guys... (I love Morris Brown)!!!!!!!!!!

  • go look at the video called "Hip Hop Drummers", alot cleaner and better than this garbage!

  • don't even start rcc ran 12 snares 6 basses 6 tenors and 6 symbals and was still clean as hell

  • The video quality ruined the sound and it still sounds good! Stop being so negative, Morris Brown is awesome!

  • yall suck yall are dirty as baby pampers

  • Take me back to when college was real. Those were the days!

  • Lots of dirt!!! Please clean this line up somebody!! Maybe they should come down to TCU or North Texas to see how it's done the right way!!!

  • Heck yeah!

  • ppl keep say "omg so dirty" well its cause they have feaking 100 snares lol

  • They have 9 or 10 snares. A lot of drumlines can play clean with that many. This is sad. Its like they aren't trying.

  • my university has 12 snares 10 cymbols 8 bass 10 qunits and a ful pit percussion and we are ranked as the #5 collegiate marching band in the usa and we sounds 100% better and cleaner

  • Are you from northwestern state in nachitoches?

  • I love this cadence, people up north thinkin this stuff is fake, Im tryin to tell em man!!

  • does anyone have the tenor part written down for this? plz and thankyou

  • they played that in drumline at the end

  • i guess as long as u hav BIG cymbals ur considered good. thats all they hav people! any1 can twirl a damn cymbal! hook those drums up and play, stop that show band BULL SHIT!!! yall making good HBCU percussion sections look bad!!
