I found this opening kind of insulting since the DVDs were advertised as having the original Japanese music with English voice acting. Yet you can only hear Cha La Head Cha La if you want the whole thing in Japanese.

im confused with all these intros of the dragon ball anime series. is this the american version? that aired in 1996? and for dragon ball z when i go to dbz.tv the episodes have different name titles. and 3rd, when a title card for the episode of dragon ball z how come it has different music? it doesn't have that technoy beat at the beginning

what i find interesting about this, is that (at least for what i have which is season 7) thats one where you can find both the original opening, and the new one that was made. But also, if you switch the audio to the original japanese mono, they have it in the original language, with changed lyrics. Im guessing they did it to make them more understandable?

dude i was in elementary school when dragonball was playing (in the us). i cringe every time i hear "rock the dragon". i much prefer the solo opening as posted above. perhaps you dont remember it being about the same age as me. rock the dragon is still as gay as ever. hell, i remember kids walking around school pumping their arms into the air and singing rock the dragon. you know what i thought to myself? thats so lame.

@will3792 alrighty, but all in all saban (which was responsible for the music in the 94 candian funimation dub) isn't all bad, they came up with the mighty morphin power ranger theme and the idea for using the sentai stock footage essentially saban is responsible for most of the shows we remember from our kid years, so it don't matter if you knock saban for a few things but what is your take on them as a whole?

@will3792 considering that they were bought out by disney whom is monopolizing on everything now which I staunchly dislike them for perchasing other companies turning into the american styled square-enix. I did like and respected saban's track record and if not for them localizing the shows they have we'd have had to search the net for the original material with a blind eye, I doubt disney would have ever jumped on the localization bandwagon like saban did with liveaction shows aside from anime

@will3792 I heard some talk and watched rants regarding toonami but never got the whole story I would mention also that I agree with famed science fiction writer and critiquer harlan ellison when he mentioned to an interviewer in the 70s that if he got a hold of a televison network he would create programs that naturally intrigue people, not what networks push into mainstream to force interest, and he is also right when he mentioned later that true creativity is almost non existant

It's cool how they don't show Goku as a Super Sayian at the end that was kinda dumb when the Japanese did that It Spoiled Goku's Super Sayian form way to early they could have just made an edit to the intro to include him as a Super Sayian later on in the series so it wouldn't spoil it
