  • i play bass clarinet and dude you are good

  • playing this, im in awe, can go that fast yet but i still have time before contest but, i think you may be breathing a little much? other that that, amazing!!!!!

  • i would love to this play this for my solo contest for school. could you tell me where i could find the sheet music for it?

you play with such lovely tone. and i adore the slower tempo, you play with such musicality. it's breath taking.

  • I personally love the tempo you took it at. When it's slower, it just gets a bit boring. And with this fast tempo, the ending is even more impressive. Well done.

  • Playing this for Santa Clara county audition :) beautiful piece of music! And well played!

  • @jamiedoer2 this is my first year trying out so no idea

  • @superphil92- we gotta do three scales and play a solo up here in PA

  • @TheDevastator711 Ahhhhh, I live in PA too! What district are you in? I'm in 11

  • I am a high school senior who is also playing the bass clarinet for two years. I played the clarinet for 4 years before hand. This was absolutely beautiful I am playing the same piece for my district auditions

  • @TheDevastator711 Wow, awesome, but for district auditions down here in SC we just have to do 4 scales including chromatic scale.

  • I'm a high school Sophomore and i'm playing this for my UIL solo piece on Bass Clarinet which I've been playing for 2 years now after two years on clarinet. You did an excellent job demonstrating the beauty of the bass clarinet that is often under-appreciated. Even though my instrument is a Buffet and i'm a good player, my friends and band mates often consider my instrument as non-melodic and a supportive/harmonic instrument. This recording proves them wrong. Great job, absolutely beautiful!

  • hey, great job! I love hearing somebody prove that the bass clarinet truly is a lovely instrument--i'm playing this piece at an audition in a week and this recording gave me some great pointers!

  • what model is your bass clarinet? i'm currently looking into purchasing an extended model that goes to low c instead of low e flat

  • @jzuss0808 Now I play PRESTIGE bass clarinet BC1193.

It's a wonderful and well made instrument.

    ww.buffet-crampon.fr/en/instruments.php?mode=productDetails&pid=134

  • @jzuss0808 get a selmer. nut try a buffet and a selmer. get a low C

  • @jzuss0808 Choose what you feel comfortable with. I play on the Privelage Selmer paris but used to play on a hard rubber low c bass called kessler. Just incase if money is tight. These basses aren't cheap haha

  • you play it at such a fast tempo....i like it slightly slower...but excellent job....i'm playing it at an audition today...i"m so nervous

  • @jzuss0808 Good luck!

  • both the bass and the piano did a great job!

  • does anyone know where i buy the sheet music?

  • i have to learn this in a week :(

  • Really nice tone

  • This man is so inspiring! I dont want to become a music performance major in college, but I really want to play this like him. Now I have something to match my progress to! Technically the solo isn't very difficult, but there is still alot that I need to work on! So rare that you hear a very talented bass clarinetist! Thank you so much for posting this. I'm gonna send this video to my private teacher

  • Loved it! Good playing, you have that great rich, but almost menacing sound that the Bass clarinet is crying out to play! Thankyou, I've heard so many bad clarinetists go from Bb to Bass, thinking its easier, but I don't find that at all; in some ways getting the noets as smooth as you have isn't easy.

  • Great job with this! I am currently learning it for an audition. I am having a little trouble with the A-B natural-A triplet at the beginning of the last part of the piece. Do you have an alternate fingering for that or are you using the traditional fingerings?

    Thanks!

  • @monkaholic100

At this triplet you can left the fingers of right hand (except the little finger) on the keys, when go back from "B natural" to "A"

  • @yuriz66 Thank you so much! That helps a lot.

  • @monkaholic100

    You are wellcome...

  • @monkaholic100 use the trill keys.

  • im viewer 16000... and 1...:(

  • so was planning on playing this solo for contest. but after hearing the speed........ yea definitely having second thoughts........ good job tho.

  • beautiful!!

  • Great sound!

  • I love your dark sounding tone, what mouthpiece/reed set up do you play on?

  • @musokid89 Now I play mouthpiece made by my collegue Evgeny Kultygine and use Vandoren #4.

  • i love this piece so much

  • w h a t. t h e. m e s s. !!! lol

unbelieavable. Although I received a Superior on this song, I didn't play it nearly as well as he did :) Superb!

  • i'm actually playing both this piece and first fantasie for bass clarinet for my college auditions. what movements did you play here cause this whole thing is about ten minutes in its entirety. &&can you email me sheet music? i would love to get a look at it before i buy it. i'll message my email. thank you!

  • this might be annoying but could i get sheet music? i'll message my email

  • Man this is one of my favorites to play! I've never actually gotten the chance to perform this but someday. Great job! You have an absolutely beautiful tone! :)

  • I know this piece, I played this piece, I love this piece and you played it very well!! It's a relief to hear someone play the bass this good. Best regards from a colleague in the Netherlands.

  • gorgeous tone :)

  • Can anyone tell me if you need an extended range bass clarinet for this piece? and if not can someone tell me where I can find the piece?

  • No, you don*t need, it:s just up to low E.

  • I play this piece on Buffet Crampon Prestise, last model.

  • Thank you. :)

  • @xKaishisxMoonx no, the lowest note is a low E.

  • @porsche911sbs sorry didn't see this

  • @xKaishisxMoonx you don't need an extended model to play it. the lowest note it calls for is a low E

  • I played this for a contest a couple years ago. Love it. <3 good job!

  • excellent!!!!

  • beautiful tone quality:)

  • Do you have to have the low C extension to play this piece?

  • No - I don't have the score with me but I believe the lowest note is either E or Eb.

  • It's Ab buddy

  • no...the lowest note is E

  • thanks

  • No the lowest note on a standard bass clarinet is low Eb E flat. This bass clarinet has an extension to low C.

  • Yeah i know, but i meant the lowest note in this piece is E, not Eb.

  • Nope :)

  • no :)

  • Does anyone have a link to the music?

  • I downloaded the video from a youtube video stealer and converted the flv to mp3 - My gf is happy about that. You should do that aswell ;)

    very nice recording indeed!

  • I played this song last year for my recital as well as Governor's School audition.

It's a beautiful song and you did it justice.

    I'm in 11th grade now.

  • this is very nice! wow!

i'm learning this piece (in progress! :P) the triplets part is killing me! not because it's hard to play, but it's hard to have a smooth transition in terms of sound quality when you play those appregios.

  • just don't play the staccatos too short. Staccato means seperated, not short. Play them more smoothly and the transition will be smoother.

  • Try playing First Fantasie by Marty/Dubois/Bonade

  • But this Fantasie was written for clarinet?

  • It was written for both Bass and Bb Soprano clarinet. It's a very nice piece of literature.

  • Yes, but they have it for Bass Clarinet also. It is the same thing, just with bass clarinet on the upper left. I loved playing it.

  • @yuriz66 Yes the Piece was Written for Clarinet, however it works very well for Bass Clarinet in the Setting that Bonade put it in.

  • I'm playing this as my solo in a few days... any tips?

  • wow, the most difficult part (the last one) is EXCELLENT...but I would play the slow part even more slowlier...with more dynamic contrasts and more expression, ritenuto, etc. Anyways, it's an opinion, overall, it's great (except for some notes in the piano part, lol=). Congratulations!

  • gorgeous!!!! what kind of mouthpiece do you use??

  • I play on Brad Behn's mouthpiece now.

  • hi...

    wonderful work!

    first of all ...

This book is beautiful and the video is excellent truth ...

I would like very much that I could pass the scores of that work ...

    PLEASE ...

also i'd like to pass others bozza balladas for bass clarinet and piano please..

    BYE... I'll wait answers..

  • That was extraordinary! My son is 2 years into playing the bass clarinet, you have inspired him to continue. Bravo!!

  • that was gorgeous. you have a great sound on bass. do you know where i can get this music?

  • that was bad ass. We should play a duet. I'm a senior in college and I want to play a bass clarinet duet so bad but theres no one around here thats capable

  • I played this solo in high school. It's an amazing piece and you sound awesome. That ending's pretty tough.

  • Nice job! I never heard of this piece. Thanks for posting it.

  • oops, just mixed up the title. Sonatine it's for quartet

  • Very good, congratulations. Isn't it Ballade?
