My observation in watching Div I and Div II athletics is that there is not much difference in the ability of their top athletes. The difference is that Div I has a greater quantity of high level talent which leads to better teams and higher quality competition. That advantage pretty much goes away once a top Div II star gets a couple of years experience at the next level. Should be a good match, but they've been pro to long for the div I vs II to mean much.

In this clip, the 1st 2 opponents seemed totally lacking in any ground skills. So, is Shane Carwin big & very strong? Yes. Does he appear to have some skill? Yes. Do we need to see more of him before making an evaluation of his overall capability? Of course. It's too soon to tell much, especially against hand picked tomato can opponents. He does seem lacking in striking skills, only from what I saw though, which wasn't much. I would like to see more, maybe even VS B. Lesnar eventually.

when shane carwin competed in D2, there wasn't much of a difference between D2 and D1. he fought some of the same names as brock lesnar who was in D1. i'm not american so i don't know much about wrestling in the states but i have read this in ron waterman's interview (not long ago). ron has worked with both brock and shane. he did give brock the edge in wrestling, but nothing significant. he said shane is a fantastic wrestler.
