While Islam may be growing fast in Europe and perhaps Asia, Christianity still gains more followers each year worldwide than does Islam. Now much of that growth is in what I'll call independent, non-denominational churches and not organized denominations.

He was actually speaking about the Muslim state before world War II and during the communist era when Muslim were prosecuted and killed in big numbers. He says it may be continuing in some areas in Africa today. So, he is projecting past events to present.
