@imperiajor Atom 330 has a crappy 945 chipset. It is still offered in some places, but just tell them to stick it where the sun don´t shine. Get the D510-D525 instead. It has the NM10 chipset. It is produced on a smaller procede, it runs cooler and has better feautures. Needs much less power also.
Hello, first off I just want to say great video. Second I have a question for you...I want to purchase a Netbook with a 1.6GHz Atom CPU however I do not know that much about this CPU and I was wondering is it like a Celeron or is it much faster? Basically is it fast or slow? thanks
thanks for the comment the atoms in the net book are only a single core with hyper threading so they are going to run fairly slow but not to bad. my wife had a netbook and i thought it was slow coming from a core 2 duo gaming notebook. but its not bad for if you want to surf the internet and have ultimate portability...
thank you for your great response it has been very helpful. =) I decided not to go with the Netbook I got a dual core AMD athlon instead. thanks again =)
@ditto767 You forget the part about the out of order execution engine. That is what makes the difference. It´s missing from the Atom, but it also makes the die smaller and less complex and thus cheaper to produce. It also saves power and heat, but all this at the price of some speed.
no problem anytime. im glade that you got somthing that will suit your needs. if you do decide to get a atom machine let me know and i can help you with it as much as i can
@TheEternalDragon1 buy amd c-50 netbook is mouch faster. I actualy have acer aspire one aoa150 with intel atom and i can play fearcombat and i can't watch 720p youtube hd videos :(
Hi buddy, i want to use this thing to stream audio 24/7 and use it as a home server. What about system temperature during summer? Will the system shut down automatically if it's overloaded? I don't want to get my house on fire hehehe. Thanks in advance, from Argentina.
in a well ventalated case this will not get hot at all, i have 3 more and all of them are running a folding farm and all the cores on them are maxed out 24/7. you will enjoy this board it is alot of fun to mess with..
no its a modified version that you can get from torrents. i got it to try it out on this system, i do own legal copies of vista just didnt have a spare key to use on this system. i have since uninstalled it and now have osx running on it. legal as well
U may have purchased osx but according to apples retarded EULA its illegal to run it on any non-apple branded machines. But i say, more power to u - apple need to wake up
Thanks for the review ditto. Very helpful! Looking to build a machine based on an Atom 330 with 1GB of ram, 160GB hard drive and a DVDRW drive plus case with intergrated PSU....all for just over £150. Probably just over $180 in American dollors.
Thanks for the video and review. I'm going to toy around with one of these. I hope an extra gigabyte of RAM smooths it out a whisper more. Were you running 64 bit, by the way?
nope, just normal air cooling, with the gigabyte motherboard.. everything is standard.. + I have 1 casefan, and a normal case.. So.. I guess its just really cool..
Have you checked out the Atom 330 coupled to the Nvidia Ion yet? Asrock have a system comming out and Nvidia has a system too, some of this tech is available on Pico ITX ! I Love living in the future!
mine really dont get that hot at all when it was in the box now i have it in a case with alot of airflow and it stays really cool. i dont know what the temps are at this moment since osx dont support the on die temp monitor for it yet
this board is great, with the exception of not having DVI output. i had this board running thru VGA to my 24" LCD, and it looks like total trash (super blurry like any VGA i would hook up to my screen). i have to run it on my 19" LCD just so i can pretend i dont hate VGA so much.

The Atom 330 or the Atom D510 I think (both are Dual Core ^-^)
imperiajor 2 years ago 2
@imperiajor yeah they're both dual core. Zotac uses the D510 and ion in their Zbox net top computers.

Celeron CPUs are actually MUCH faster than Atoms.
Atoms struggle with HD Youtube content - the celeron definatly doesn't.
Don't get the Atom. I ran a test and it was even a lil bit slower as my 5 year old (!) Celeron 130nm 2,4GHz CPU.

thanks for the advice as well =)

@TheEternalDragon1 Its much slower than any celeron processor actually.
