  • The metronome effect is awesome.

  • Ive always wanted to know how to get glitcy drums..im new to producing

  • @enteria120 heck yeah, cubase! I'm still trying to figure out how to get even the basic stuff down on mine haha

  • i swear i must have listend to the clips inbetween songs more then the songs at times. all the parts you have written compliment the music so well plz keep makeing amazing music!

  • Fuck the interludes, there's a goddamn Cactuar on his desk.

  • Thumb for cubase.

  • Boss

  • Hey what program do you use?

  • I'm just starting out making some electronic stuff, to take a break from the guitar-oriented music that i regularly make. Why exactly is dblue glitch considered cheating, and what alternatives are there to it so that i would not be "cheating"?

  • @CillaBlack5 He was kidding lol

  • Hey man, I was just wondering, because I'd love to make this kinda music for myself, what VSTs and programs do you use to create this stuff?

  • Holy Shit this sounds cool.

  • Can't wait to get high to this haha.

  • Jake you need to incorporate as much cactaur as possible into the new record.

  • Are you using these tones on the album or just programming them now and finding tones you want later?

  • Coffee is superb. It is essential

  • all jacked up on coffee... so that's what the kids are calling it these days?

  • AKG K271's?

  • THAT FUNNY DANCING CACTUS FROM FINAL FANTASY!

    xD

  • CACTUAR!

  • Definitely amazing Jake. For serious. I am not a fan dubstep/electronic styles of music, but I can't get enough of this track! Great job writing it sir.

  • Is the Cactuar a necessary source of inspiration?

  • Program?

  • uh...

  • this just made me grin like an idiot. jake adds the thunder to P

  • Can you afford that apartment just from being in Periphery? Musician here, just wanna know if survival is possible at a band ur level

  • So you just cut the recording track in little pieces to make that "glitch" sound?

  • MO FUH KIN CACTUAR

  • I WANT THAT ALBUM RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Do you guys use twitter?

  • cactur!!!

  • awesome

  • what keyboard is that?

  • Why so many tracks? :o

  • @ConceptsProject Why not?

  • This is so beautiful. One day I talk to you on facebook and said that I wanted you to make a record with your electronic stuff like distortion corridor and undertow of attraction. You said to me check out the new periphery record and stay tune you'll see. Now I can fully understand what you were saying. Thanks a lot Jake and go check out his myspace, it's so relaxing. I'm trying to make something like that in my studio. Keep up the good work !

  • This album is going to kick ass.

  • Your electronic instrumentals are beautiful, and really add something between tracks, i love how melodic they are, great stuff!

  • AHHH NO A METRONOME RUNNN

  • Cactuar FTW.

  • I use Cubase too! *---*

  • It's.....so beautiful :'(

  • Jake, nice stuff, what OS is that?

  • @martinman300 Thanks! It's Windows XP.

  • @enteria120 Is it skinned? Looks really cool. I use cubase too, just starting to get into some of this electronic stuff. :-)

  • @enteria120 Windows XP? In that case I'm gonna hack into your comp and steal all your work trolololol

  • You use dblue glitch dont you?

  • @jessewrightmusic Fuck no, that's cheating!

  • @Periphery What do you use?

  • @jessewrightmusic I don't use dblue glitch, it's actually faster to get the results I want doing it manually.

  • Hey Jake, do you manually cut out the parts in this song, or is there some kind of software that automatically does that to give that "glitchy" effect?

  • @732547 Yeah I sample an instrument, cut it up and add effects.

  • Dude, everyone loves your electronic stuff. When I used to work at Radioshack we had a sound system behind the counter and I would always play all your stuff I got from your soundclick or cloud whichever lolol all day long every day and I mean I worked there a LOT and a lot of my customers liked it a lot.

  • @Jackrat808 that's awesome, thank you!!

  • beautiful

  • Whats the program? I REALLY want to know how to make stuff like this....it just sounds awesome!

Btw can't wait for the album, do we have a more precise date than May 2012 yet for Juggernaut?

  • @ABFan010 Cubase.

  • :) can't wait

  • This kind of songs written by jake bowen are juste pure gold ( take a look at his soundcloud ! )

  • I love it because it reminds me of Metroid Prime. :)

  • You go Jake!

  • You definately need to put out an electronic album. I'd buy it. With real money.

  • I think these are some of the best parts of the album, hopefully the new ones will be just as good. Keep it up.

  • New album is gonna be sooooooo good

  • hmmm, not up to par with this one.

    /watch?v=7KX6iQ8wssI&feature=related

I'm disappointed Jake, i expected more.

  • @ibanezxiphos700 Hahahaha, I see what You did there. XD

  • It means a lot to me that you guys like what I do, I also contribute riffs but the electronic stuff is 100% me. Again thanks for the kind words, it just makes me write harder and I won't let any of you down!

  • @enteria120 And that very attitude is what allows you to hold the band together and be the incredible songwriter that you are. I look forward to the album and I'm positive that you won't let us down.

  • if you put out an album of only this kind of music it would cause another baby boom

  • this makes me 10x more excited for the new album

  • I love this! The electronic atmospheric tones in periphery's music does so much!

  • This short clip of music inspires me more than Ghandi/Churchill/god himself. Awesome music. Thanks alot :)

  • @Umaiketsu i know :( i kinda hate myself right now

  • All these studio updates are making me hard.

  • why did it stop :(

  • what do you use to make those drums?

  • Jake's interludes are one of my favorite parts of the last Periphery album. Definitely the biggest influence from Periphery in my own music is Jake's electronic sections.

  • this sounds amazing! :D

  • how you you press ctrl + alt + del on that keyboard?

  • SEA used reason and they had some of the greatest synth of all time. in b4 stfu :)

  • What kinda VST's y'all using?

  • 58th ?!!!!

  • cubase was yes!

  • where are the other 57 updates?! Periphery just trolled me again but I feel too happy about the ambient electro stuff that I don't even care

  • do you give cubase tutorials?

  • Lovely. Really uplifting.

  • #58 ?? I'm missed up a lot...

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT!!!!! seriously man, periphery has changed my life

  • why is everyone talkin about cubase and gear? this is a video that contains beautiful music, focus on that.

  • @MattSaintsMusic because most people that listen to periphery happen to be very into gear.

  • So does this mean that each song will have a length that's a full minute or two longer than the ACTUAL song?

  • do you prefer pc's over macs?

  • Sounds awesome!

  • cool stuff Jake!

  • Sounds really good. Looking forward for this album.

  • What are the specs of the computer periphery uses for their work?

  • Hey guys, I am starting up a home studio and was wondering what you guys use for vocal mics

  • I WANT IT SO BAD

  • "And look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Djent Reznor! No! It's Jake Bowen and his Windows PC of wonder!"

  • hey jake, can i marry your creativity ?

  • what midi keyboard is tat ?

  • Next Time you go to australia you have to come to nz!

  • where are these 50 other studio updates????

  • oh Jake <3

  • whats your pc set up?

  • I'm loving the cactuar plush!

  • What plugins are u using

  • it has a...

    (puts on sunglasses)

    ...NEW GROOVE to it

    YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHAAAAAA

  • hey jakey jake, you're great. thanks retweeting my soni photo so often!

  • Sounds awesome so far.

  • so do you guys record everything in cubase, or do you just use it for the interludes?

  • this is some great all new material ! (trolollol) but this sounds sick

  • Comment removed

  • I'm semi surprised by the Roland monitors. I'd have guessed Yamaha or Mackie.

  • These interludes need to be their own songs with their own track number. I won't mind having a CD with twice as many tracks if I could also single out these short pieces if I wanted.

I love the interlude after Totla Mad but I have to listen to the rest of the song first. I'd rather just listen to the interlude then Ow My Feelings each time.

  • I'm really glad we got this video, I've been wanting to see how some of this stuff is made for a while.

  • Fucking beautiful man. Listened to 1:01 once and the melody has been following me around. Getting stooooked!

  • @oAzureSkies well put , I agree

  • reminds me of BT

  • Cubase ftw!!!

  • reminds me of edge of the earth by volumes :s

  • Cubase ftw \m/

  • Nice Do it! ya'll!

  • beautiful playing!

  • This stuff gets me pumped to start using my studio! I just got some nice monitors..

  • CACTUAR!

  • Shut up and take my money! :)

  • not enough dooya in this

  • Ugh what program is this

  • but why are you using cubase.

  • @handsomegargoyle2 Cubase is hands down the best daw for midi work. Even Protools and Logic users know this. Every DAW has some slight pros and cons over the other, but the truth is you can get excellent results from any of them if you know how to use them. If you seriously spend time hating on other DAWs then you likely have no idea what you are talking about and are just blindly regurgitating something you heard someone else say...

  • @Periphery Well said sir. On that note, I love working with MIDI and thought Logic had that on lock down. Time to investigate Cubase! Can't wait to hear the new album!

  • @Periphery i prefere digital performer for midi work have u tried it

  • @Periphery well I actually use cubase every single day and the only way it I feel it is improved in any way is by the stacks of extra add-ons you need to buy. Also, I really don't like PC interface and it can't handle the amount of VSTs I use so I actually have a good reason for not liking it.

  • @Periphery but also, that is probably because of the computer being absolutely shit, and logic and pro-tools need add-ons too, so I can see what you mean.

  • @Periphery Cubase is the shit.

  • @Periphery Personally I prefer Ableton, but I have yet to try cubase.

  • @Periphery it's all about Audacity. not even trollin, it's so simple and if you know how to work it you can make everything happen. and it's free!

  • @Periphery i ♥ cubase

  • @Periphery what programs were used to record the whole first album? obviously cubase for the little song transitions but everything else?

  • @Periphery i am using cubase exclusively but i think Logic works as good as cubase or maybe even a slightly bit better with midi work... but i dont think that using another DAW gives any advantages over another except maybe protools with its Beat Detective :P

  • @handsomegargoyle2 daaam you got told . .

  • Secret's in the Cactuar ladies and gentlemen. Where ever you see a Cactuar, win is bound to happen.

  • @jokeroflife2006 99% of people reading that comment afterwards googled "Cactuar"

    FF<3

  • and THIS,is whats gonna make these next albums so Amazing!! Great job Jake!

  • TOO SHORT VIDEOS OF YOURS!

  • Jake what software do you use?

  • @TheOneblackened Cubase

  • one word. Beautiful.

  • Most. Awesome. Bedroom. Ever.

  • Please keep working on these lo-fi tracks of yours. I love this vibe so much, and you're been delivering at a much more consistent level than the likes of say Telefon Tel Aviv

  • besides the fact that the music kicks ecery kind of anus, the most impressive thing about this is that Jake has an undeniably unique style. If i heard that piece without any video or introduction from Jake I still would have known it was him. LUDATSHIT
