  • Tip for all you guys out there with maybe rougher style lives like Led Zeppelin:

When you're friend is hammered and you put him to sleep, make sure hes facing down, not up. Never put a completely wasted guy to sleep facing up, or this happens.

  • Awwww it sounded like he was a very nice guy when not drinking :(

  • Check out the "Fool in the rain drum tracks" EPIC!

  • Only 32. Right? Very sad. Seems to have been, not only an awesome drummer, but was certainly a nice guy. And he loved his family and the band maids very much.

  • Bad news for any musician being a drummer or not!!

    --Thundersticks

  • why is it that I'm half the age those band would have been if they continued to this day, and I feel sad that people like bonzo and hendrix aren't among us. well maybe it's better that way, maybe legends would never be legends if they survived, but seeing them live in their original lineup, no matter how sloppy or grey-haired they would look, would make me feel like I was a microscopic fragment of their history...

  • quadruple screwdrivres FTW

  • Very sad day.....could of been avoided....miss you Bonzoooooooo

  • It's incredible how we lost the two greatest drummers of all time within the space of just 2 years. R.I.P Bonzo and Keith.

  • @vedderfan94 It's always the talented or good people that go early. But, shouldn't it be the other way?

  • i talked to jason bonham on the phone when my dad got backstage at a foreigner concert when he was playin with em in 05.

  • so many musicians of those times had drug and alcohol problems, so much talented wasted, too much sex drugs and rock n roll wrecked them all

  • @ectomy1235 as steven tyler said: take out drugs, and you have a lot more time for the other two. It's a shame that back then, drugs were equally important.

  • R.I.P Bonham, Mercury, Morrisson, Jimi, Stevie Ray, Buddy, Lennon, Rhoades, Elvis, Kobain, even Pac and B.I.G.

  • God must be a big music fan, cause he takes all the best musicians away from us so they can play for him in heaven.

  • discernable diragables

  • we never see 70s,80s again.....sad/

  • John Bonham doesn't keep time with the metronome, the metronome keeps time with John Bonham!

  • R.I.P. to the best god damn drummer ever! gone but never forgotten hes in all our hearts <3

  • If you cut John Bonham groove comes out

  • He gived all to music and to the crowd. He received all from music and from the crowd. When the living legend died, the myth of Led Zeppelin became immortal. But is so sad. What we've got, and what we have lost.

  • to Led Zeps credit, they didnt go on with substitute because it wouldnt be the genuine article! thats called integrity!

  • John Bonham was a great drummer, but had a major drinking problem , and finaly drank himself to death ,which in turn killed off Led Zeppelin as a band , can u imagine how the Beatles would have made it without Ringo ,who came along later ,Led Zepplin was already in fighting prior Bonahams death , at 25 year old Brit , was pissed

  • I'm a big admirer of Keith Moon, He's about the only competition I can even consider for John Bonham, maybe Mitch Mitchell, but I've never heard anyone else play stylistically like Bonham. WTF is the deal with that?

  • Robert was probably devastated with the recent death of his son and now one of his earliest friends.

  • @iamthewintertime I so agree. And don't forget, this was 1980, a very sad year for rock. Three giants passed away - Bonham, Bon Scott, and, heaviest of all, John Lennon. Come together, indeed... RIP, guys.

  • @ThisisfromUzi My brother was 22 that yr and playing in a great band . He said he thought his world was being systematically destroyed one bit at a time . Kieth Moon had gone soon before that , and Moon and Bonzo were his heroes. But he was very much into ACDC and of course held Lennon in high esteem as most people did . A sad time for rock fans

  • can anyone tell me who that is at 0:53 ?

  • I wonder why he opted to want to drink so much that day.

  • @Tony63909 its called alcoholism!

  • Stop that fucking Bonzo all know that the gods do not die! : /

  • Alcohol and drinking are NOT Cool. It is disgusting how many lives waste away over drinking and wanting to be drunk.

  • @QUeensNYCUSA Fuck you

  • @QUeensNYCUSA Stfu. If you don't like Led Zeppelin you must be retarded

  • My Hero and mentor through out my life after seeing Zeppelin in 1972 here in Australia and seeing bonzo banging the skins i knew what i wanted to do...yep been drumming for 30 yrs because of john henry bonham....please checkout my channel dedicated to my hero and fav band.!!

  • A great drummer there has never been another one like him, R.I.P. Bonzo.

  • All great bands split after a member dies

  • "who else i would need for a drummer but Bonzo you know.."

    i cried a little

  • 8 people can't play drums.

  • @Actors317 Pity them for they know not,Better they call it quits than try to make somebody regaurdless of their talent would not fit,we will see him again.

  • The rules are, if a member of the band that got their fame from giving a sacrifice up first, they can't use one of those band members as another sacrifice to get another seven year fame stretch. That's why they peter'd out.

Seriously,,, I thought he was killed in a car accident,,, while very drunk? I was not a television potato so I can't say where I heard it.

  • Only 32...He didn't even reach the pinnacle of his drumming yet...

  • long live Bonzo !!!

  • rip the master.

  • Yep I agree...The BEST drummer ever!!!!

  • damm you alchol, damm you to hell

    R.I.P John "Bonzo" Bonham

  • @nirvanafan91ify "damm you alchol, damm you to hell R.I.P John "Bonzo" Bonham"

It isn't known as the worst chemical a human can consume for nuttin. As long as the user knows his dose, Heroin is a safer intoxicant than alcohol. Heroin users fall into the death trap most often because they suddenly have a cleaner batch and use it as if it was not as pure as it really is, deadly overdose follows. It should be legal(ized*) for that reason alone.

*It already is your right to use it, BillOfRights9

  • Damn, 1980 was a sucky year for music... We lost 3 great musicians that year: Bon Scott, bonzo, and John Lennon

  • @flembagg966 Four rock musicians died in 1980. Bon Scott died that February. Two months later, Tommy Caldwell of The Marshall Tucker Band died in a Jeep accident in April of 1980. Then John Bonham in September. Then lastly was John Lennon. 1980 was not that bad. We had many great rock albums released that year. Music died after 1994 in my view.

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster It was about 1980 that it all seemed to go down hill for my taste. The radio became a noise box I hated to tune into. I turned to playing my own records and listen to what I liked, wishing some new good stuff came out, with the rare exceptions I found some.

  • @SlackerSlayer After the disaster known as disco, rock was on the resurrection in late 1979/80 as far as album sales go. Led Zeppelin, The Eagles and Pink Floyd led the charge with In Through the Out Door, The Long Run and The Wall respectively. 1980 also saw the debuts of Iron Maiden, The Pretenders, Def Leppard and U2 (though overrated in my view); the overdue acceptance of AC/DC, Judas Priest, Genesis and Rush. Solo Who projects from Townshend and Daltrey were also superb in 1980.

  • @SlackerSlayer I also forgot that 1980 saw Black Sabbath come back with best album since 1975. Motorhead had Ace of Spades. 1980 did see the last time Queen would have a hit album in the States during Freddie Mercury's lifetime, Jethro Tull selling out Madison Square Garden and Boston Garden, Kansas tour with original lineup, Aerosmith touring with Brad Whitford as guitarist until his return in 1984. Styx were still huge at this point (as was Journey). It was 1995 when rock began dying slowly.

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster I am glad you enjoyed it. Of those you mentioned, AC/DC was the only non-disappointment. I loved all Sabbath, all Rainbow,,, but put the two together,,, I couldn't get into. In through the out went into it's cover and stayed there, hated it. Journey??? Seriously have you seen my picture?

  • @SlackerSlayer I was 4 years old in 1980 but heard so much rock music in my house (thanks to my mother, may she Rest In Peace) at that time that it was in its resurrection. The Wall became the top selling rock album in US history (Led Zeppelin IV eventually caught up with The Wall). Nice pic. Some have said I'm helplessly trapped in prog rock/hard rock circa 1977, I say "great time for rock and roll".

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster Yes 1977 was a great time, for me a 16-17 year old.

  • @JasonTheGuitarHero legal drug...taxed and at every corner.

  • such a shame R.O. I.H (Rock Out In Heaven)

  • Damn Alcohol

  • and nobody let the guy go home

    why stop the drunk guy?

    it's freedom

freedom of approaching life liberty happiness

  • i'm an old mid-forties drummer which knows time and emulence motion ajd rock me baby all night long

  • different persons are a weird thing to say to fastidios alient lay 57 roswell

  • in heaven have the betters shows ever bonzo on drums hendrix guitars vocals 3 awesome morrison janis and mercury elvis and jackson like dancers do i miss someone?

  • definitely the LSD look at 5:06

  • Bonzo was and stay, the best drumer of the world...................Thanks for sharing.

  • Bonham would have been 63 this year.

  • 31 years we miss John Henry Bonham "Bonzo"

  • @JasonTheGuitarHero no, it heals pain and makes me feel better about myself

  • @THEFLYINGREDNECK thats pretty sad man, you should get some help for that. Believe me when i say it, you dont want to get into that shit.

  • Don't get me wrong, I love Neil Peart. But him replacing Bonham would be like swapping tires on a motocross bike and a street racing bike. Sure, you'll still be in the race and reach the finish line. But it wouldn't be as good of a ride.

On a less related note, does anybody know where I can find that clip of Jason playing drums when he was around 4 or 5? I just cannot find it anywhere. That little clip used to crack me up (when he'd twirl his sticks and such).

  • I just saw Robert Plant in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park at the Hardly Stricly Bluegrass Festival. What a show! I took a video from up on the hill where the acoustics were great! "Ramble On" was my favorite song that day!

  • @iraceu1 Huh, what? ??? Hey! Who's a Bonham hater!? Who are they!? Name them, eh! I think they need to be told a little somethin' about themself!

  • I'm still pissed about that!

  • RIP John Bonham

  • RIP John Bonham. Truly one of rock & rolls greatest drumers May 31, 1948 – September 25, 1980.

  • 31 years ago today. terribly sad.

  • dislikes?? Must be Pat Boon fans.

  • @trangzen66 thus why there is only 7 dislikes!!!

  • @trangzen66 LOL Pat Boone! BWAAHAHAHAHA!

  • John had the deep soul groove of the band ! No, white drummer could reaplace him!

  • I've always been more of a Deep Purple fan and love Ian Paice's "swing" drumming, but Bonzo was something else entirely. An absolute legend who could never have been replaced, no matter how good Cozy Powell (another great loss many years later) and others were. Bonzo was truly a special case!

  • i'm about a decade younger than the Zepplin members and got lucky enought to see them in Houston TX 2nd row center, 1976! . John Bonham's work is timeless, his Moby Dick solo stands way above numerous other great drummers! Miss you BONZO! LED ZEPPLIN or the Gods of Rock!

  • Best drummer in the world. Period. One of the saddest days in music history...

    what documentary is this from?

  • None of the other thumbnails even make sense, wonder who chose those 3 for this video? Some NON-zep person for sure, lol.

  • hes a fucken drummer for christs sakes, there are 100s of possible replacements for any drummer, its not like when Jim morrison of the Doors died, the band was fucked for sure !

  • @ronnied828 Yeah, how are the doors going to find the biggest LOSER, again!!!! get real!

  • @ronnied828 Are you serious. tell me, who could replace john bonham?

  • @sahartyman Niel Peart of RUSH`...will never happen tho

  • @steverednova

neil peart is great, dont get me wrong. but NO ONE CAN REPLACE JOHN BONHAM

  • @dazerbrah ...Sure ....Jason Bonham

  • @steverednova

like i said. NO ONE CAN REPLACE JOHN HENRY BONHAM.

  • @dazerbrah tHATS YOUR OPPINION

  • @steverednova No actually that's absolute truth

  • @bburditt WHO REALLY FUCKIN CAREEESSSS

  • @ronnied828 Heh! You dunno much, do ya. Because on the contrary, it's a lot like that. You can't replace John Bonham in Led Zeppelin any more than you you can replace Jim Morrison in The Doors.

But unlike the The Doors, every single member of Led Zeppelin, bar none, was vital and intrigal to the whole, so that includes John Bonham, so shutup, eh.

  • Unique drummer.

  • anyone notice the guy fliping off at 0:36

  • Why did they use a picture of Plant to advertise this video clip, as the thumbnail image on beginning???

  • @gmj2012 because they only give you 3 pics to choose from to make the thumbnail, and out of the 3, that one was the best because the others aren't as good.

  • @acidinurmind Thanks for the response, yeah you are right, plus Plant was featured in the video too, so it makes sense. Thanks for the upload & info. I'm somewhere in the middle about the drummer being too unique to replace, I wish they had gone on with a new drummer, but also understand how hard it may have been for them to mentally accept someone else in his place--it wasn't about the music for them, but about their brotherhood like friendship.

  • @gmj2012 Who gives a fuck!!??

  • Does anyone know which gig that was around 4:20 where all four of them were sitting in a row? I would love to watch the whole thing so yeah if you know the date, location etc... :)

  • One part of me would have been curious to see Zeppelin carry on but all in all, I do believe they made the right choice. And I seriously doubt anyone they might have tried to replace Bonzo with could have stood the comparison they surely would have received, for any length of time.

  • this makes me sad :(

  • Bonzo is my inspiration, the dude's spirit lives on but led zeppelin is lost in the prcoess :(

  • people have problems no one is immuned not even a great drummer

  • althought he was the drummer

come on died because the alocohol cause

    sort of fail doesn't?

  • R.I.P Led Zepplin!! <33

  • Can somebody verify this? One of my friends told me that Bonham got in a car accident or something where they found his arms 30 feet apart from his body or something like that. I have never heard this story until he told me. Is this true??

  • @TheSubdivisions Eh, no

  • @TheSubdivisions You're thinking about the drummer for Deth Leopard.... that's what happened to that drummer in the mid 80's....

  • @munchy14 That's what I told him!!! He said no, it was the drummer from Led Zeppelin...and then after that everybody laughed at me. I'll show em!!! Haha

  • john bonham took the stairway to heaven when he died

  • WHEN SOMEONE IS DRUNK AND UNCONCIOUS, YOU LIE THEM ON THEIR SIDE SO THEY DON'T SUFFOCATE ON THEIR OWN PUKE.

  • Bonzo was Roberts closest friend in the band, when Roberts son died Bonzo and Richard Cole (tour manager) were the only ones from the band that were at the funeral. jimmy and jonesy werent there :(

  • i have this documentary :DD

  • @justicerevenge777 What is it called? I want to get it!

  • @JinnyJean1971 its on i tunes, its about 6 bucks its called "A to Zeppelin: The Unauthorized Story of Led Zeppelin" id email it to you but its off itunes, so youd need my password :/

  • I think both John and keith got lost as can happen to anyone as for dieing bad well I'm a siner so my vote doesn't count

  • 32. Was the same age as Keith Moon?

  • :(::::::::::::::::::

  • bonham died because god wanted drum lessons

  • @EtceteraJHawk class

  • Only the good die young

  • @Jackupnow Sometimes, the bad die young, too. And if they die old, they die bad. :).

  • well he died doing what he liked, drinking and dringing and drinking so lets say he drunk himself to death. cared nothing about his family or anyone just himself so i say good riddance.

  • @harold9468 your comment is out of order you would drink to with all that fame and being away from his family

  • @harold9468 Did you even watch the video, fool?

  • Miss Pamela!

  • @75amoeba dude whats wrong with u?

  • Theses woman are old dogs.

  • what documentary is this from?

  • Sadly, the band lost it's heartbeat. I can still remember the day they announced his passing. Still brings a tear.

  • goodbye John!

  • 00:34, ya those are usually the symptoms of being drunk..

  • Zep disbanded after Bonzo's death. That says all you need to know about Bonham and the integrity fo the band....

  • best movie..worth to watch it in webmovietube

  • Great Drummer and missed, like "Mick Tucker" (The Sweet Drummer) who was up there with John and Cosy & Buddy & Krupa .. such greats and never forgotten .. all as good as eachover but in their own way :) RIP .

  • @petebest22 mitch mitchell, george suranovich, stuart cable, the list goes on,Heaven/Hell is full of drummers ..

  • DINO CAMPANELLA

  • no he wasn't ,he was the greatist rock drummer of all time . buddy rich is the greatist drummer of all time.buddy was lightyears ahead of everybody

  • @croppybhoy Fuck you, Bonzo Was the best and there has been no-one who is anywhere near as good yet

  • I WAS BORN IN 31-05, I AM DRUMMER WITH JOHN, MY IDOL..

  • Very bad stuff. People do not realize that alcohol is a powerful neuro-toxin. They don't realize that you can already be a dead man while you're still pounding them down.

I have lost several friends to alcohol that died way too young.

  • Now I'm crying.

  • Kinda like Layne Staley. DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO "REPLACE" BONZO ,INSULT TO THE FANS AND THE BAND.

  • @snotra You, my friend, are what I call a troll. Trolls are obnoxious. I want to kick trolls in the face. If you don't like the band, then don't watch the video. Idiot.

  • @Snotra You are an idiot!!!!!!

  • @Snotra sloppy guitar player who has a sound that fits the band. pitchy singer at his worst, incredible at his best. Out of the world incredible drummer and one of the great bassists. The rhythm section are truly the best part of the band and they're phenomenal

  • @Snotra too bad we dont listen to Ballet music

  • @Snotra dude, whats your problem? if your just gonna post hate comments on an incredible band's video, please just dont watch it in the first place.

  • @Snotra tell that to there millions of screaming fans

  • @Snotra ide love to see you outplay pagey, ide love to see you outplay jonesy, and i would fucking laugh at your attempts to outdrum bonzo. go die.

  • I watch these sort of things to remember: Alcoholics aren't stupid people: Just stupid Drunks.

  • Please visit my channel...dedicated to john bonham and drumming.

  • @tornmask totally agree with you about Hendrix, Janis, and John Henry, but jacko? He was a little kid with a bit of talent until he went totally mad after thriller, never liked him, never rated him, I cried like a baby when I heard about Bonzo dying, Jacko? Wouldn't even have pissed on him if he was on fire

  • Hello there music appreciator.

  • the difference between Led Zeppelin and The Who, after Bonzo died, they were done because they were SMART! they couldn't go on anymore. The Who? the picked up some other kid, ZEPPELIN FOR LIFE!

  • @xXaggiesXx23: The Who couldn't afford to break up after Keith Moon's death, you dolt. And for you to call their replacement "some kid" proves how little you know about rock music.

  • @tomthefunky ha ha i like how i have 2 thumbs up and you have none on that comment and what the fuck is wrong with you? i know a hell of a-lot about rock music. all i play on drums is Bonham.

so go away Bonham hater and bow down the the sico Moon who is really not a great drummer. fuck off
