  • This is something I would expect a high school band to play in America.

And a Japanese elementary school band is playing this, completely memorized!!

    O_O

    Amazing!! : )

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whoa!!!!! Thats unbelievable! There amazing!

It's not a Rich Private School, It's just a Public School. It wont be forced by ther teachers.

  • I don't get the racist and the other unnecessary comments.

I'm Japanese and yes, I do agree some kids got in the band because of their parents. But thanks to that opportunity, look, and listen to them! They're freaking amazing! There would possibly be NO WAY they'll would sound this good if they aren't enjoying it. And in my opinion, they look happy. Just look at that amazing alto sax player. Didn't he smile after his 1st solo? You morons are the ones making these innocent kids robots and such.

  • stupid people here.Japanese proud of our country.you too?

we are not robots.Their effort bears fruit. That's all.

  • when I was elementaly school student, I belonged to a band club like this.

It's not private or music school, so we could practice only in club activities.

I practiced very hard, but it's because I love music.

I and my friends practiced even after club activities with own will.

  • I'm japanese. seriously question to you guys.

why you guys think these all japanese children have been made to coercion training by their parents?

  • is it because their parents make them practice 16 hours everyday?

  • @c7a7v7e7m7a7n

you think japanese children have not there intention?

  • @c7a7v7e7m7a7n That's a typical comment by a non-talented person :P

  • They are ordinary public elementary school students.

  • These children are not a rich, private grade-schoolers.It is a usual public grade-schooler in Japan. Still, it practiced and, thus, it became good musicians.

  • I quit

  • How come it seems that the majority of compositions across all genres come from the west? Seems kind of backwards, considering the fact that there are musicians of this caliber at this age...

  • How are most of the brass players girls?

  • @RangerAce24 Because we're better at blowing... duh

  • A band geek's jailbait... wait what?

  • I wish our North American bands are like that

  • -mindblown- Dx

  • DAMN! Did you see that tiny asian girl on the upright bass and the other little girl ripping on the drumset? WTF?!

  • If you dislike this video, you're just jealous x)

  • @jenjenn195 IKR

  • These kids have an unbelievable amount of talent!

  • Go tiger moms!! Lol

  • WOW!! Um They Are Show Offs! But Great Song Choice! xD

  • WTF

  • Hello?!?!?!?!?! Can't u see that u don't need yamahas to play that good only PRACTICE PEOPLE!!!!!! Congratulation kids u r the best!!!!!!! No wonder Japan is one of the top 10 on educational standards and U.S............at least 36th!!!!!!!!!

  • The place they're playing at kind of looks like Orchestra Hall in Chicago…

  • 6:26 is some orgasmic trombone playing. o.o

  • How do they play like this AND memorive it??? Amazing!(:

  • Observe that they are all playing yamahas.

  • @georgemichaelalbert

    So?

So what if they are using Yamahas?

Can you say you are better than them?

  • Freaking amazing

  • Guys, I think these are robots. Just look at them. They clearly don't know what love is.

  • go flute!

  • They shouldnt force little kids to do things like this. The expressions on their faces are blank and they really dont look like their enjoying themselves.

  • @LouieOmega

    Are you shitting me?

I'm in a wind ensamble, and there's no difference in facial expression and our band class is FUN.

would you prefer them all having creepy smiles while playing?

    LOL.

  • @GnomeGuardian no I would prefer if they enjoyed what they were doing and not what their parents forced them to do. and im not talking about your band class.

  • @LouieOmega Hou come you know these kids are forced to play and they don't enjoy playing? Have you talked with them?

I feel they are enjoying themselves.

  • no bassoon D;

  • @PLANEMANGROY You realize that they had it memorized AND made it sound AMAZING. I would like to see any American band do that. My wind Ensemble did that for NYSSMA last year and we got a Gold. Oh, by the way, unless you practice ALL day, EVERY day, you're not pulling that off in less than a week, unless you are some sort of musical prodigy.

  • THEY DON'T HAVE AN OBOE!!! THE OBOE SOLO ABOUT HALF WAY THROUGH WAS PLAYED BY A PICCOLO AND WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A TRUMPET!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!! On a better note(no pun intended), I wish I were as good as them! I am 17 and still can't play anything that complex without having music to look at. The are SOOOOOOO amazing! (I worship this band!)

  • I'm sorry; this is just insane. This tone that they have comes with years and years of practice. This must be literally all these kids do. They sound fantastic, though.

  • What are they sliping into these kids juice box's, I want some!!

  • @15Kickbutt Dedication!

  • Who is the composer of that second one? I like it a lot.

  • @emmanuelbobo14

"Japan 2009's top elementary school symphonic band performance"

    Note: Japan.

    Lol chinks = chinese.

  • @ToiletsfullofPoop That's racist.

  • its like watching a wii movie...

  • They may be exceptionally fantastic, but remember, they don't have any fun or free time.

  • @DXman54 you don't know ;)

But hey... it's fun to play instruments. I'm a pianist and tombonist, and teacher, and I have a lot of fun playing ... thats fun time too ;) Not only playing football... It's the same. Doing what we like is the fn.

  • @DXman54 but they might be having fun making music

  • @DXman54 BULL!!

  • @DXman54 playing music is their fun.

  • Two words: Tiger Mom.

  • ummmmmmm.... WOW im a sad excuse for being in symphonic band in highschool... @_@

  • I hate Asia.

  • Wow, the band is so insanely well balanced. Guess they didn't get to choose what instrument they played?

  • O.O... my high school got owned

  • Whoa that is totally beast! I play middle school in a very good band program and our high school symphonic band was thinking about playing that. They are playing level 6 music

  • FML

  • They all probably had private lessons... I least I hope so, cause I'd feel horrible. xP

  • i was gonna be like "awww cute!" but then i got insanely intimidated...son of a.....WOWWWW

  • difficulty level: asian

  • @Pluscano what about new jokes?

  • This is why they're going to take over the world some day...

  • Amazing and depressing all rolled up into one. One could only dream.

  • WOW.........just..WOW

  • OH MY GOSH!!!! I am in the most advanced band ensemble in my middle school, even scored highest in the Chicago Heritage Festival, but we would never come close to this.

    ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING!!!!

  • 1:18 the next Kenny G.

  • Too awesome...

  • FEAR THE BEAR

  • the sound is so clear it sounds like there is only one person playing... oh wait there all the same person anyway

  • @MrJmranderson -_- so stupid

  • JAPANESe PARENTS NOT AMUSED

  • anyone else not surprised at all?

  • I thought slave labor was against the law in Japan... I can't imagine the amount of work those students must have gone though to get that good at such a young age.

  • I LOVE SLAVA!!!

  • Dude this is what we played in Middle School all state with sheet music and they play it in elementary school without music

  • Holy crap

  • Ok, my jaw is still on the ground.

  • I wonder what it sounds like when they sight read music ! ?

  • LOOK MA! NO MUSIC!!

  • Superb! So young and obviously very talented. Better than many so called professional wind bands I have heard.

  • Fantastic!!! saudations from portugal

  • WOW...

  • I tought it was brass at the first ROFL!

  • it's the end for us human beings all

  • symphonic band performance

  • look at all the french horn players! last year, i was the only one. so i switched to bari sax. im still the only one. *helpmeplz*

  • This why i wish I lived in Japan o.o Haha if only my 8th year orchestra could do this... Yeaaa, you go bassessss <3

  • This is the only song they learned all year and they practiced 24/7... that's the only explanation I have for this

  • @skewerable lol my band teacher always tells us that they never consider failure and they are given a piece of music and the teacher just says play this and the students reply "Hai" blankly and just do as they're told... o,o i like their culture and how they can control them so easily

  • Congratulations on an inspirational performance! I gave my thumbs up for the euphonium players! Delightful :)

  • it is hard to remember that they are elementary kids! A+ for musical excellence!

  • @1:49 note that the girl is playing picc trumpet! I've never even heard of someone in elementary school performing on picc, not even any of the other "child prodigies" we have here in the States.

  • FANTASTIC SAXES! :O now, let them do something with trombone

  • they are amazing, at our concert the percussion section (thats me) forgot to play there instruments in one of the songs, it was embarising. and we play like really easy stuff. these japanese kids sounds so good is because school have alot stricter ways of learning than we do.

  • It is also amazing that they keep in good physical condition...

My Japanese teacher always said " one for all, all for one."

  • 1:29. The parents are like "Don't fuck up or you bring shame to famry."

  • @RSSsailing That's not right. Do you realize how much their parents push them to be as good as they are? That takes a TON of effort to accomplish. Be lucky you aren't Chinese or Japanese.

  • @diggerollocady1 I'm Leonese! Its a landlocked country between southeast Asia!

  • O.O my high school band teacher showed me this. There's maybe one or two high school bands that are this good in probably the east coast lol

  • Oh my gosh! That was amazing.

  • Did anyone else realize that they had that all memorized?

  • @XxMrCoolDude53xX Holy Crap

  • @XxMrCoolDude53xX When I was just learning to play piano starting at age 12, for recitals I had the music memorized. Didn't everybody?

  • Wow, crazy good...

  • wait...elementary school? i'd hate to see (or hear...) what the high schools are like...

  • yes...but can they play "Stars and Stripes Forever March"?

  • i guess i would have memorized something after about a year of playing

  • i bet all these kids could make all state for 4 years in a row in texas when they get in high school. haha.

  • fun piece btw

  • an elementary school band playing SLAVA?!?!?!??! wtf!> lol

  • i don't really understand how people can come to the conclusion that these kids are all work, no play.... just look at them! especially in the second song, look how they're like jiggling and swaying with the music they're producing!! They're enjoying it! they love it! i long to be one of them. also... there's no way you can play like that and hate what you do :)

long comment is ranty, sorry :P Love the video, love the music.... and i'll be quiet now :)

  • although this may seem amazing, and it is, lemme just tell that this is what all of these kids play for a year. nothing else, they just study and study so hard on a piece for a year. that is all

  • @benboy444 I think you are forgetting all the basic elements that made this a great performance. Even if they'e worked the entire year on a piece of music, but all the fundamentals such as producing a great tone quality, having a great sense of pulse and blend and balance are still skills that are very hard to achieve at that level. I can bravely say that a lot of schools in the U.S can't play like this even if they are given the same exact amount of time.

  • @benboy444 How do you know that? Have you experienced it in Japan? I'm a Japanese. I attended an elementary school and played some music. Yes, we practiced everyday, but not necessarily at school though. We met only twice after school to practice. Otherwise, I did at at home. It was entirely up to ME and all the students to continue practicing consistently. I CHOSE to do it. And I think we learned at least one song every 4 to 6 weeks.

  • Bari Sax kid ftw!!!

  • Crazy Sax solo.

  • ... when I was their age, I struggled with hot cross buns on the recorder.... fml.

  • My school recently cut our only music program, last year in fact. And its been really frustrating to the students and teachers who actually care about creativity for students...

But this video simply amazes me. Well done Narashinodai Daiichi!

  • The senior band at my High school here in IL can't play like that! this is amazing!

  • And the parent's are like "that coulda been better" lmao

  • Wow, that's.. gees.. The only thing that's worrysome about this is.. Look at the bari and bass clarinet players.. They're going to have SERIOUS hand issues later in life ..That poor bass clarinet girl had to really stretch to reach LH B looked almost painful... But that drummer girl is going to have some SERIOUS muscle tone by the time she's in her 20s.

  • My . Band. Just. Got. Pwned.

  • Not a single smile in the audience, its all work and no play with japanese ... " you must not fail me, wax on wax off"

  • wholly hell

  • Congrats to the teachers, parents and esp students for such an outstanding performance.

  • What amazes me is how the director was able to keep these children's focus.

I'm a part -time piano teacher and I teach 4-7 year olds and they have such short attention spans.

For them to learn this and memorize this is a great accomplishment!

  • Really? memorizing pieces is tough? If you really love the piece, it comes to you naturally. at least for me, it isnt that surprising.

  • NO SHEET MUSIC?! :o

In my 7 years of symphonic orchestra, I cannot play without sheets and they did it like it was nothing.

    Pros man. Freaking pro.

  • Holy Shit...that kid with sax and clarinet thang blew me away

  • I have never seen such commitment and discipline in Middle School Band. These kids are awesome! Do they go on concert tours? I hope they do, at least in Asia. Many directors will be inspired.

  • I saw this thinking, "Holy crap. These kids are only in elementary school and they play as well as my high school's top players!"

Then I saw that there were higher grades (Junior and Senior High).....

  • The guys on percussion were having the best time of all!!

  • HOLLY CRAP!!! REALLY, THEY JUST DID THAT???? THIS KIDS ARE BETTER THAN 99.99 PERCENT OF USA HIGH SCHOOL TOP SYMPHONIC BANDS! REALLY, YOU CANT FIND ANY HIGH SCHOOL IN THE UNITED STATES THAT SOUND THIS GOOD ON YOUTUBE! BEYOND AMAZING!

  • kids these days, am i right?

  • SUPERB!

  • Tom's chasing Jerry

  • The first song sounds like something you would on Looney Tunes.

  • @ultimatewinxclubfan The first piece is titled "Slava!" The composer Leonard Bernstein commissioned it for his friend Mstislav Rostropovich, whose nickname was Slava. He wrote it in a kind of vaudeville style to reflect Rostropovich's jolly personality. The piece itself is actually composed of two songs from Bernstein's failed Broadway musical.

  • why did they not get a standing ovation?

  • @TheSweetAndSourTeam does ur band wear uniforms and have 7.5 minutes of music memorized with solos?

  • These kids are amazing. I can't believe the stupid immature comments posted here. Stop criticizing and get your butt in the practice room.

  • They may be technically good, but there's little soul in what they're playing.

  • I didn't know they had the Suzuki method for entire bands now... :/

  • Damn, I play in the high school band and we don't play as well as this.

  • After about halfway through the clip...I realized that they don't have music stands....

    They memorized 7 1/2 minutes of music...How?

  • The amount of practice that has to be put into this outstanding. i dont think i could get a class 5th graders to stand s till for an hour much less practice for 4 hours at a time, shows how dedicated people to musical education in other countries besides the u.s. we didnt even have band as an oppurtunity, maybe we need to pick it up and somehow reaise our standards to this excellence. i would loved to have been apart of something as cool as this

  • Notice how they dont have stands and no one in the audience is smiling...

  • they dont have an oboe...

  • I think the reason these kids do well is cause the kids there embrace something like this at a young age, while American kids reprimand others early on for being in band. pretty dang
