  • this jam is the voice of reason when a person looks at hip hop

  • I still remember buying this CD back in 2000, smooth shit!

  • @TairyHesticles: What was your favorite album of 2011?

  • I'm kinda old [44],and I was lucky enough to be a hip-hop fan in what I consider to be the peak period [87'-89'].P.E.,B.D.P.,EPMD,DE LA SOUL,N.W.A.CASH MONEY @MARVELOUS,ERIK.B@RAKIM etc...I pretty much gave up on the genre until hearing these intelligent ,creative and talented dudes.CHEERS ,

    BLACKALICIOUS!!

  • I. Love. This. Song.

    Thanks you, Blackalicious.

  • you heard blackalicious rap the alphabet??pretty ill, check it out...

  • Those that don't know, need to know!

  • a great book was made to help hiphop

with Blackalcious and loads more top

    groups contributing to it, -called-

    ..:: H ;; O ..:W ....:;;T,O .;;.....R ;.A ..:P

    really-stellar

    boook, really in-depth...

  • omfg, ive never heard this track by black, but this is exactly what i need at this point in my life. Blessing.

  • simply bcuz I dont live that way...hard as fuck

  • Love it

  • This is a pretty awesome song back when I could "afford" to be simple and humble the end of a long work day, and a couple of tokes off the bong and then sleep...

Now a days it's just swimming through a hell of "paper" thin SAMBO persona's based on social consumerism and Aesthetic morality like a white-man is better than a black man and that they have the right to not strive to succeed because of "slavery" and that this president is their collective revenge and gods wraith.

    Can't wait to be FREE.

  • 3 people are Shallow.

  • mad comments on this, so sorry if i missed it...but anyone know the main sample??

  • i swere everyimte i ever hear blackalicious i think about 40oz for breakfasst! THAT TRACK IS STR8 BUTTA! this reminds of it. so laid back the beats just CREEEEP. anyone who digs this gots to peep it! thnx for posting

  • i cant stop listening to this song, this is one of their best smoothest tracks!

  • Def one of my fav Blackalicious songs. Gift of Gab is such the appropriate name and yes, I do consider their music a Gift to us all.

  • I love this band because they keep it 100% real. Everyone else is alla bout sex, drugs, on this fake gansta act that they only do for money. They feed into the system that they think they are so against. This band is cool.

  • wish i could smoke everyone up right now. lol

  • The modern day Gill Scott

  • THIS CHIT IS SO RAW N REAL GABB IS LORD

  • The modern day poet.....

  • its all about the PMA

  • Very Nice! I just discovered it recently. Wish i had back when. better late than never i guess. Ha!

  • Replay button woot

  • Reset button

  • Love it. So sad that people think hip hop is all misogyny & violence & don't realise the flip side is some of the most conscious & positive music out there.

  • I believe this was released right before music was destroyed.

  • Long life to Blackalicious!!!

  • I love this so much.

  • motha fucka good BEAT

  • I feel bad for those who I tell to check this out and don't...

  • realist song ive ever heard, gift of gab is the TRUTH!

  • i luv this track

perfect for the summer, chillin with chicks nd homies.

    THIS IS REAL HIP HOP!!!!!

  • Where has this artist been my whole life?!

  • If you are feelin this, you will love akua naru's new album "The Journey Aflame." pure dopeness. Real Hip Hop, yall.

  • Couple tracks for my man Richie!!! Love you Cuzzoe!!!!

  • I WANT TO DIE TO THIS SONG...

  • ☺

  • "RAP" rap is not who has the illest flow or who has the best technique it's about self exspression its about the joy you get while rapping its about free exspression and the times you spend with freind's. Lil wayne and other artist have no self exspression they just sing about what ever there employer is paying them to say. there for it is not "RAP"

  • fuckin love this song

  • Big Up Blackalicious My 2pac !

  • Big Up My 2pac !

  • THIS SONG MAKES ME CRY EVERYTIME I THINK ABOUT HOW GREAT OUR LIVES COULD BE IF THIS WORLD DIDNT REVOLVE AROUND MONEY.

  • Man, Why isnt this stuff in the charts, Being a metal head I just assumed everything was like Lil' Wayne. To any underground hiphop fans, i'm honestly sorry for even comparing this to soulja Boi ect.

  • @PinguPwnz

    THANKZ.

REAL HIP HOP IS STILL ALIVE.

    IT JUST WENT UNDERGROUND.

  • Comment removed

  • @PinguPwnz This album is from 00'. Blackalcious hasnt made an album since 05'. Not all hip hop is shit man. Look up Aesop Rock, Living Legends, Atmosphere. Theres alot of hip hop that isnt just about making money.

  • Two thumbs down = two people who don't wanna let go of dumb nigga shit

  • powerful track

  • music like this makes me feel glad that i'm alive :)

  • Blackalicious is something you put on when you meditate. Dont take this music for granted because it wont be around at all in 20 years.

  • shallow world, hollow life...damn

  • When I first heard this, I was in high-school. Cheap pop-rap plagued the airwaves. I was a self proclaimed "Rap hater"..... then I heard this one song, and I realised there was more to hip hop than what was on TV. I broke through that commercial Fog that they direct toward highschool students. It was a freeing moment. I've been a hip-hop head ever since. I think thats the biggest compliment I can give the guys

  • @tykyca props homie!

  • @tykyca fuck yeah brotha

  • @tykyca love that compliment

  • "shallow days, you never wanna

let a brother be a brother

    fully inner to the outer

caught up in all them hollow nights

can't escape cause everywhere that I look

people fronting, and it just ain't right"

Damn.......He's been touched by the Gods....

  • great song great album

  • DEFINATELY A JEM IN MY BOOK

  • ... and hip-hop is a voice, so we enlist that to express how we be feeling about this and that, but music does reflect life and kids look up to what you're portraying

and mimic what you act like.

  • Now thats some real hip hop

  • @cormega70 Yeah better then that illuminati music out these days .

  • @skeemts yes man.... you indeed are right

  • @billrau57 Black Moon

  • @billrau57 Black Moon

  • love this track

  • Great song. Another great song is Gangstarr: Moment of truth

  • how the fuck is there a thumbs down on this?

  • @TairyHesticles thank you for posting all this good music

  • damn, i remember this one year i went over my uncles house for the summer and i found this record that he got signed by gift of gab and Chief Xcel. I wasnt that much into underground hiphop/blackalicious back then, but now i realized what i missed out and slept on...

  • Hey I invite any of you guys to a cypher. Check out my cypher video for details ha.

  • Quannum. Hubba Hubba.

  • i love the message, modern rap is so evil and fake...

  • so so deep, both types

  • this tracks brings me waaay back. lovin it!

  • Blackalicious, very intelligent choice for your brain & ears.

  • Gift of Gab and Chief Xcel's wonderful lyrics and clever deliveries are amazing.

  • Love what he says about the word "peace" - Such an amazing dude.

  • Anyone know those songs where it gives you that feeling you cant explain. This is one of them and this is why music is the greatest creation.

  • this is the cut for after '1 of those days'makes the stress float away!!

  • this is the cut, seen him live with his man friend dj xl

  • Ten years old and still has that mellow, genuine vibe. Incredible.

  • Because this music heightens your ability to think for yourself and to think critically.

The media wants obedience and conformity to progress their faltering agenda. When you realize theres only 3-4 corporations that control the entire media in the U.S. it becomes clearer, sry for the tangent..

  • He might sound crazy but most economic experts will agree with him.

However, I don't think that this kind of music is directly discouraged by elites.

There is a strategically more intelligent way to approach such a problem. Change society's perception of music & they'll dig mindless dance music while they cash out their credit cards at clubs. Its smart business, exploitation has been happening for centuries from those in power. The CEO's aren't your parents, they don't give shit about you.

  • Rhetorical but still, why isn't this on tv??

  • Nialicious puts water in the eyes of the wise

  • that's real

  • This is the greatest rap song ive ever heard.

40k is just sad view wise.

  • I just searched this randomly, haven't heard it in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages my god man....there are no words I think this might be my favorite thing ever NIA is such a 100 percent perfect album but this song is just the best thing about it, all their albums are so good but this is just a masterpiece Gab and Xcel just...my god man the lyrics in this track just kick me right in the heart and the groove is so perfect. I don't think a song has ever meant so much to me

  • Huge up to Blackalicious, felt in love with their albums about 2 months ago and they took a major place in my top15.

i'll get one album of yours i promise, for now thanks Megaupload you made my ears get to orgasm so many times so far.

  • "Shallow Days" yes indeed they are, but this is top quality!

This seriously kicks the butz of the talentless, inferior, bling bums & guns flunkies th@ get trotted out in the 'shallow daze' th@ is MTV and wherever else fools look.

Blackalicious, doing it right....yea.., most excellent ☺

  • Any old shool producers here? Well if so please tell me what artist or subgenre (because i guess it's jazz) I should look for so I can find those 'lazy' trumpet samples? Yes, I like to do things traditionally :P

    Thanks :)

  • Bossa Nova is great for lazy sounds.

  • The traditional way is to just find a trumpeter and work with him/her a while to find the right sound. Good Luck.

  • Big up

  • gift of gab = one underrated rapper, give this man some love

  • This is real hip-hop...It gives inspiration for people like us to make good music, and to listen to real stories as well, yall know? It not that bullshit ringtone garbage that is all commercial nowadays.

"Commercial rap gets the gun clap" - O.G.C.

  • Word.

  • i love this song. awesome damn its amazing. makes shivers go down my spine

  • ye man it makes me feel like no other song for some reason its fucking great innit

  • True.

    That's what this is. True.

  • Now this is true. Not all that gangsta/booty bull.

  • that's true. I listen to that "bull" as well but see I when I listen to it I don't treat it as a "real" song. I treat it as the mainstream garbage it is and just listen to it for fun.

  • that mainstream garbage skews your perception to how the world really works.

  • not quite. unless you meant "your" in general.

  • hmm, a "thumbs down" just because I believe in thinking for myself rather than saying that MUSIC causes me to have a skewed perception. Way to not understand what I said whoever thumbs-downed me.

  • its not that black and white

  • so what you're saying is that people can be influenced by what they listen to, watch, take in visually and audibly every day and not be able to think for themselves? yes, people do in fact do that, but I am not one of those people.

  • stupid people do that.

  • THANK you.

  • this is fucking awsome sounds like some dark shit positive wu tang

  • great song... does anyone know some more hip hop with really good lyrics n beats like this? this blows anything on the radio outa the water

  • Man, you have come to the right place. I would probably start with some Brother Ali if you like positive hip hop. There is also tons of experimental music in underground hip hop, much of it with great lyrics.
