Why do most Deadheads not allow themselves to appreciate other music. Listen, The Grateful Dead were awesome musically and basically pioneered a scene that allowed a giant fan/cult like following to tour all over the US with them which is also awesome. But its OK for other bands to take over the reins of that scene and duty. The Grateful Dead were a rocking folk band. Phish is a rocking jam band. They can both coexist equally. To me, I sure as hell appreciate and am thankful for them both...

Never have I met a more musically illiterate group of people. 99% of the Phish/Dead fans I know/met thru my life have the most narrow taste in music. Often times they are the most difficult to turn onto a new genre or sound. They are also the quickest, in my experience to down talk any form of music made without classic instruments.

I am old and used to see phish at bars for $7 bucks it was worth it then, saw them until they played the garden. That was it for me to many kids not enough adults. maybe its a better scene now hope it is.
i think that most people just hate people's enthusiasm for phish. all the fans aside, they're still a pretty decent, maybe sometimes forgettable, jamband with a damn good light show and production team. all the music aside, the fans are unbelievably enthusiastic for this band, bordering raging-lunatic-"maybe i should be worried" excitement. people can get into this whole package and a lot of kids do. but if you don't like one part of the phish experience, it seems all very confusing.
Phish sucks because you have no sense of humor? That doesn't make sense. The sad part is, Phish has such a deep, rewarding, catalog that they have something for everyone.

i recognize their talent and especially their intellegence , however i would not put one dollar in trey's pocket if that dollar was even given to me. the pompous ass that he is does not compare to Widespread, Dave Mathews, and would not even come close to challenging ekoostik hookah with lyrical ingenuity, harmonic convergence, and sincerity regarding their fans. Phish indeed sucks ass and was the worst mistake that came out of my generation.

I am old and used to see phish at bars for $7 bucks it was worth it then, saw them until they played the garden. That was it for me to many kids not enough adults. maybe its a better scene now hope it is.

i think that most people just hate people's enthusiasm for phish. all the fans aside, they're still a pretty decent, maybe sometimes forgettable, jamband with a damn good light show and production team. all the music aside, the fans are unbelievably enthusiastic for this band, bordering raging-lunatic-"maybe i should be worried" excitement. people can get into this whole package and a lot of kids do. but if you don't like one part of the phish experience, it seems all very confusing.

Phish sucks because you have no sense of humor? That doesn't make sense. Most who hate on Phish are usually pretentious d-bags who are afraid of being remotely associated with anything a "hippie" might like. The sad part is, Phish has such a deep, rewarding, catalog that they have something for everyone.
Their musicianship is undeniable, their compositions are magical, and their shows are fun. Do they occasionally sing off key? Yeah. Do they occasionally miss a change? Yeah. Get over yourself

I think all of those guys are talented musicians, but I think their catalogue is weak, their covers are mostly lifeless, their stage antics are dull, and their sound is anything but profound. Phish ripped off the Dead, lowered the culture, and lowered standards. Sorry guys, but I just dont get the whole Phish thing.

Have you ever seen the band live? Seen them this summer? They on fire, no drugs needed. Please watch anything from this summer, check out Harry hood 9/4/11 and if your still not impressed then you we just have different tastes in music. And Jerry Garcia played bad music, have you ever seen him play?
