Always loved George T's music. Its great music to dance to, play pool to, drink to and also drive long open road distances to (but not after drinking:)...George is and always will be the BOMB!
@plumb2013 True the 4 downers need a good walloping with a 4x2 plank. But not all gamers are haters. I think G.T is a legend, and I play all game types. FPS, MMORPG, Driving, Flying, etc etc. Then again I also manage to string more than two words together. LOL. Rock On People.
This makes me teary eyed. How this type of music isn't number one all over the world is fucking beyond me. Bless Elmore James and George. And kids. If you wanna start playing Rock'n'Roll...This is how you fucking do it the right way.
@semilost I wonder if it was at the Empire Theater. I managed the Bill Blue Band, and we opened a show for him there. It was a great show. He was extremely shy off stage, though. Ironic.
@brevadude - I'm not from Richmond and as I recall things were a little "foggy" that evening. Dont remember the theater's name or the opening act's name but I do recall that the openers rocked as well....;) !!
This song is Open D - I got the book, and played along , with George (well, not like King George) - I did get a Copper tube slide like his, free, at the Hardware store...works great
If there's anybody better, they "ain't been born yet", as Yogi would say. I saw George several times from 1979-1982 at small venues, then at some larger places over the last several years. He still rocks out, but those late '70's and early '80's shows were incomparable.
I fucking respect this guy beyond any level conceivable by man. Although not the front of my "playlist" he is always there with me at the front when my heart makes decisions. We feel the same pain, and the same gain. The slight sarcastic undertone that influences everything I do. This man will influence me and my decisions for the rest of my life.
Thorogood is an ace musician he did the song justice however still the superior version is Fleetwood's Jam in Chicago, with Spencer in the G lead and J.T. Brown :)
does any one know what open tuning this is in....thanx for the post love george when i first heard him at age 6 that slide playing took me by storm my favorite album is the 1977 ST debut on record LP to hear his slide playin on vinyl is a whole different experience....
George T and the DD's. These guys ruled in the late 80's. Saw them twice at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Me and my crew were drinking Yukon Jack...he blew our faces off.
Ahhh yes...A little dose fo George Thorogood never hurt anyone..I saw him on a halloween night way back whe he did a 50 states in 50 dates tour....1 concert every night....50 nights in a row and each night it was a dirrerent state...what a tour schedule but he pulled it off and "blew the roof off the dump" in Amarillo, TX...he was billiant live.....TY for post.....
GT&TD to play king tuts, don think so, that announce ment was made by the singer of the support band, the dirty strangers, who are playing king tuts in august some time,
Yeah me too Went to see him last night he was fantastic first time I have seen him live unbelievable if anyone gets the chance its worth it brilliant!
well what can i say about last nights gig at the secc armadillo in glasgow, just superb , brilliant , the quality of mucisianship , sound, professionalism, in other words a wonderful performance by a band that obviously love what they do. third time i have seen them and they just get better each time, if that is possible. george had the crowd in the palm of his hand for the whole show. sign of a great showman. from the opening no. ,rock & roll party to the last, madison blues, just wonderful!!!
goin to see george and the boys in glasgow tonight, 3rd time i have seen them, brilliant, the place is bouncing all night, this is rock & roll how it should be played to the masses
notice the sign on jeff's drum kit,"HERE TONITE,5 MAN TRIO".He told me he got that idea from a 3 stooges show, that he saw that sign on one of their episodes and thought that was so cool.
I saw this motherfucker at the Main Point in Bryn Mawr PA, a small room. He drank cheap red wine with us and then blew the room away.

One of the most underrated guitarists of all time. He stands up there with Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton, but most people don't recognize it.

I read that George makes his slides himself.
He uses 1/2 in. copper tubing and cuts and finishes them by hand.
