She is a Goddess, and if you are interested in learning more there is a great deal of media, on youtube and elsewhere. I'd suggest started by reading some of the vedas. And visit a Hindu temple. There aren't many Kali-specific temples in the U.S. but there are a great deal of ISKCON (Hare Krisna) temples, and there are a few great Shiva temples in Queens, NYC. Both sects are very welcoming.
jaisarasvatimaa has a lot of good aarti videos. These are prayers and/or meditations you can do at home. Or just meditate... it's a good prescription for anything
Yes, she truly is a guiding hand in times with need as well as without, generous with love tho harsh sometimes it may be. In times of darkness one can take solace that sources of light will seem to shine brighter. May Kali continue to bless you
