You can do it with Smoke on the water too. I can do the verse/chorus pretty well, but the solos kill me. :P To practice, just use Frets on Fire/Guitar Hero. (But FOF works better because there's not give up.)

Heh, it's all just practice. Your hands just get used to doing what it needs to do to change pitch.

The trilling one? Well... first try it without your hands. Just put your tongue on the roof of your mouth and try to use air to make it bounce up and down on the roof. It's kind of like the Spanish "rr" sound. Then just try to do that into your hands.
