It is alittle painful to listen to Kerry during If Only! She is ALL OVER THE PLACE! She is soooooooo flat! and sounds like she is trying to belt EVERY SINGLE WORD AND NOTE! .... she is a fantastic singer, but that song should never be sung by her again!!

her singing part of your world makes her sound like a lot of girls here on youtube who are very amateur. the reason sierra got the part is because she knows how to properly sing. jodi sounds better than this. and her belting sounds more like shes screaming through a cold. sierra is sooooo much better. just tellin it like it is.

I'm not feeling Kerry as Ariel. She's too much of a belt. Sierra's voice

might sound too "old", but her classical training helps a lot.

You can REALLY tell that Kerry isn't sure whether to use her head or chest

voice throughout much of both songs and they're fighting with one another.

When she does choose her head voice, it's just not strong or polished enough.

She is much better suited for roles like Audrey that allow her to constantly

belt and where it's ok to have a more nasal-y voice.

I don't really mind either "Ariel" voice. Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE Sierra Boggess fan...but I think Kerry would've been a good Ariel character and singer to a certain extent. But I'm glad Sierra was chosen, he belt seems more natural...I think?? Oh well I'm just gonna stop talking

i love kerry i think the tone of her voice fits the character, her voice sound young yet polished. sierra is great she sounds ten years older. i think the reason that sierra got the part not only is she beautiful but she looks like Ariel and she the classical training that allows her to hit the higher notes with more ease and finesse. they both sound good, it all depends what you want. a young sounding voice with a belt, or a more mature voice with finesse.

I agree with her killing this song, sorry. :) I think Kerry has a very powerful voice and a beautiful tone if she uses it; she's too nasal; she needs to open up. She's good for songs like the ones in Little Shop of Horrors but not Disney princess songs. She actually has a lovely CD with Disney songs...I forget what it's called. The sad thing is most of it is soooo nasal. :(

@oceanege You should hear her as Belle. She was much better suited for that role and you could see why she originated the role in the Toronto production of "Beauty and the Beast" and then played the role on Broadway.

I'm with Sam and Fara! Kerry has a great voice but her vocals for Ariel arn't right. She has great emotion but her nasily belts are unpleasent. Ariel is supposed to have an astonishing voice! She maybe 16 but that's what makes her special & unique. If I may quote the Broadway show - " Her notes are as clear as ice and pitch as pure as water." And I think Sierra not only brought the vocal beauty but the passion & aspirational qualities. I wish Ashley could have filled in for her. She's great!

I understand that you never said she's the worst singer ever, and I'm sure you can sing. But you're lack of modesty, and your quickness to bash someone else for their performance (a professional actress), it just makes me even more eager to hear a 14 year old girl, who's voice will not have remotely matured at all, try to compare herself, to a seasoned Broadway and Professional actress/singer, who's voice is extremely powerful.

well, sorry for not sounding modest. i usually don't talk like that, but i felt like i needed to say what i think is true. call me naive, but that's who i am. and i know i'm not suited for any brodway anytime soon. i have a ways to go, i admit. i am an amature. i'm not the best. the nasily voice just gets to me haha

Kerry is one of the best performers on Broadway and did this so well. I really think she should have gotten this role. She is also a really sweet person, when she talks to me she is just the best. I love you Kerry!
