  • owt??????? is this piece of shit canadian,,,,,, wondered why it had the sly glasses on

  • If it gets me into one of her beds then cover me in goat poop and call me compost!

  • Um...Um....Um....Um....Um.....Ummmmm !

  • Super Sexy.

  • I just don't see how this video got 15 dislikes unless those viewers were Jealous women!

  • That's pretty much it. She told it just like it works......No B.S. Works every single year for us.

  • How delicious. I wonder lexi, how much salt I could lick off your mamories

  • BIG speed up. Use human urine as a starter.

Cover the pile for 48 hrs with plastic, tarp..old carpet is better.

After 48 hrs, uncover, turn (to aerate), add water as needed, cover again.

    Rinse, repeat...10-14 day compost.

  • 4:12 Did I Hear A Donkey ? lol

  • Amazonian ..

  • It is making a good meal...for micro orgs, and plants.

  • i like how simple and easy she makes it.want to see more of the compost used, and see some of her garden also.does she ever use wood chips, or river eel grass in the pile??

  • I want to make organic love to Lexi on top of a smouldering compost pile...

  • Excellent video, and I like how it appeared to be totally on the spot and you nailed all the key points.

  • great diy

  • 1) Air

    2) Water (moisture)

    3) Heat

    4) Nitrogen (greens)

    5) Carbon (like, "hey!")

    What about human poop?

  • @parkerjwill no human poop.

  • @freqeist Humanure Handbook, check it out.

  • @parkerjwill thanks but no thanks.

  • @freqeist Personally, I haven't done it, just read a good portion of the Humanure Handbook. But, if my goal were to make one hell of a harmonious homestead, I'd seriously consider it a valid and even attractive (not on all levels of course ;-) option.

  • I recently started my own compost, but What are the friendly bugs we are looking for? Not maggots right??? That's what I've got in mine, Do I have to start all over??? Please help

  • @TahshaTPitsMe If using manure, be sure to dry it out first. No meat, eggs, etc. You should be able to kill maggots if you get the pile hot enough. Ask around at the garden store about nematodes that prey on maggots.

  • OMG the bugs are like 'pooping'! It's called digesting but I guess that word has too many syllables in it for an American .... woman! In a way she reminds me of Big Bird on Sesame Street, the way she talks in a simplistic way as if addressing 4 year olds. OMG is Disneyworld a country? Like I don't know Elmo, I'll ask one of the bugs when he is finished poo ping!

  • This video was very informative, I wish more videos were this specific. Now I would like to see a video that tells us what not to put in a compost pile. Thanks

  • lets smoke a dubie sometime

  • kidhf524

MAKE SURE YOU TELL THIS LADY THAT SHE HAS:

.......the most gorgeous TATAS I have ever seen ......but SHE knew that!!!

  • @lostallmymirth i kno , thank god for 360p youtube, i'd die to nuzzle those gorgeous underarms & suckle . Lexi is So Fit and smart. But she knows that : )

  • @SalviaSeatBelt Dude you are a FREAK.

  • does the "green layer" of your garden have to be edible???

  • Nice all natural woman!

  • nice video

  • can i use dog poop?

  • @jerrydff7 They say to not use any poop..that comes from an meat-eating animal. Cows Pigs and shit are kewl............

  • @jerrydff7 no cat, dog or human excrement should b used. Local horse stables sumtimes allow u to collect manure if u bring the barrel or bag. Happy composting!

  • dude this chick is pretty smart... she does a good job of explaining the science in american terms haha awesome stuff

  • @JuneBugJoe American term? you mean to dumb down..

  • @freqeist enlighten me then smart guy... you dont have to talk like a walking dictionary to be smart... the smartest people are those who speak on level of understanding.

  • A girl who calls worms "wormies" and isn't afraid of them; priceless. xD

Nice informational video as well, it helped a lot. Thank you!

  • Hi thanks for the explanations. I have one question, how can I make compost out of leftover food, like rotten vegetables, and so on.

  • @javieradrianchomer

"how can I make compost out of leftover food, like rotten vegetables, and so on. "

Just chuck your moldy veg on the heap and it will eventually turn into compost. Ideally the heap should be at least 3' by 3' by 6'. To speed things up, add extra nitogen by piddling in a bucket, adding four times as much water and pouring it onto the heap. Actually, there is o reason why you shouldn't add your other bodily wastes but you may find that your neighbours tend to be a bit negative

  • nice teeth

  • Thanks for the vid...I don't care what people will say..I just love compost ;)

  • Decompostion creates the heat...not the bugs pooping....lol...the breaking down chemical process creates the heat.

  • Heat is not an ingredient...it's about the right ingredients to get the heat...mix dry stuff like straw or leaves with fresh leaves and grass. Then throw in the kitchen stuff.

You don't need manure. If you use manure use vegetarian animal crap. Then add water. Turn it every month to speed it up.

  • good to know about inoculation.

i dug down into my (dry) pile. the temperature measured 91- which was about equal to today's high temp. so, instead of just adding water- added some extra compost tea. one hand feeds the other : )

  • u need poo in compost too

  • nice compost. hard for the guys to focus on what your saying though. compost is mesmerizing.

  • Thanks for the info! Makes more sense. Next time, can you comment about the smell. When the material is decomposing, does it produce a bad smell? If so, how do you cover the smell? How long does it take to decomposed?

  • @MrGreenvision

"When the material is decomposing, does it produce a bad smell?"

It produces a pleasant, earthy smell. The only time it really pongs is when there is too much water and no oxygen, so if the heap starts to reek, turn it so that it gets some air.

  • This is one of my favorite how-to videos for composting. It conveys some information (like initial aeration) that isn't common to most videos on the topic.

I do have one question though. Shouldn't the C:N ratio be roughly 25:1? In this video, you said you should always have more N than C. I thought it was the other way around.

    thanks!

  • for a hot fast acting pile a ratio of 1 part nitrogen to between 20 and 40 parts carbon.A medium active pile with a brief initial heat surge is in the 100 carbon to 1 part nitrogen range. 200/1 and higher will produce a slow decomposing pile that won't be ready till the following summer.

Too much notrogen can overheat the pile and kill the good bacteria creating a sterile compost

  • Thank you!

    Very informative and nicely explained!
