After i read the tao te ching i was uplifted into a blanket of spiritual ecstasy. I meditated in my bed and 3 waves of energy shot through my feet and all the way up to my head. I could feel the warmth and even percieve colors in this alien form of energy and i have never- ever- felt more connected to the universe.

Within the first 20 pages, there were more FACTUAL mistakes (re evolution of flowers and origin of species) than I cared to count. I chucked the book away for fear that others would be misled too. The Tao Te Ching is my favorite of all books. Its teaching is consonant with the Gita, the Bible, and other scripture from other traditions. When you truly understand the essence of scripture from any tradition, you naturally understand scripture from other traditions. The Tao is pure teaching. There is no element of culture, as in the Bible. The Tao begins with "way able speak, not permanent Way." So many search for God along the "way able speak" - in things. Tao takes us to the emptiness.
"If a book that was written so long ago is still vitally alive, it means that it must have been written from a very deep place and point to something that is timeless. If it were not written from a deep, timeless place within the author, and did not point to something that is beyond time, the book written 2500 years ago would be irrelevant" - Eckhart Tolle. If Tao had not come from this deep, timeless place, it would have been insignificant long ago - Tao Te Ching, poem 67.

@TehLazernetsRkewl The reason why you find religious comments in Eckhart's video comment section is because religious people are insecure and deep down they have doubts about their religion. This insecurity brings forth the need to attack anything that makes the doubts more severe so that the religious person can feel better for a while. It can be taken as a good sign though because this turmoil may enable the awakening to slowly take place and free the religious person from their prison.

Do you, when alone in nature, ever get the sense of God as being anything but peaceful, wise, and loving? The teaching of a burning hell is improper. The lake of fire means "the second death." Death is said to be hurled into this lake of fire. (Re 20:14, 20) Death obviously cannot be literally burned. In death there is no consciousness. It is, then, eternal destruction.

After i read the tao te ching i was uplifted into a blanket of spiritual ecstasy. I meditated in my bed and 3 waves of energy shot through my feet and all the way up to my head. I could feel the warmth and even percieve colors in this alien form of energy and i have never- ever- felt more connected to the universe.

Cr*p. Have your read this jester? I was given a copy of one of his books by a blessedly ignorant convert (not in a religious sense) and really encouraged to read it. Within the first 20 pages, there were more FACTUAL mistakes (re evolution of flowers and origin of species) than I cared to count. I chucked the book away for fear that others would be misled too. If he can't get the facts straight, then the rest of it just barking too. Sad. He really seems to believe in the tosh that he's peddling.

If I understand what you've written . . . . . the nature of science and the scientific method is that one is prepared to consider data, call them facts but continue to test them to determine whether they are true. If not, one forms a new data set and then continues the process.
This is the process I follow.

@tomjreid may i point out that i also question the start of that book , but, if you read on you will realise it is not full of such large debatable teachings, i just thought it was a shame you missed the good in the rest of the book, it changed my life, as for everyone debating you, they need to read the book again, because otherwise they would not debate with so much negativity . peace.

The Tao Te Ching is my favorite of all books. Its teaching is consonant with the Gita, the Bible, and other scripture from other traditions. When you truly understand the essence of scripture from any tradition, you naturally understand scripture from other traditions. The Tao is pure teaching. There is no element of culture, as in the Bible. The Tao begins with "way able speak, not permanent Way." So many search for God along the "way able speak" - in things. Tao takes us to the emptiness.

ET has done his best to extrapolate his concepts by using Jesus teachings, these are merely footnotes that can either be embraced, if ones feels the need to or disregarded, whatever suits. Practicing the PON is simply a great psychological tool that anyone, with or without belief in God can effectively use. Its OK that ET's Theistic views are somewhat confusing, he's not walking on water or raising the dead is he?. Don't be offended Christians, just take from it whatever you can that is useful.

I don't understand why when I come to see any Eckhart video, I always find religious comments in the comments section.
Why is it always that the 'religious' feel the need to come to these videos and preach to us biblical content and try to "lead' us into some sort of biblical debate?
It's tiring. Why don't you maybe take Eckhart's words in and ponder them instead of constantly defending your positions repeatedly like your whole world depends on it?

@TehLazernetsRkewl The reason why you find religious comments in Eckhart's video comment section is because religious people are insecure and deep down they have doubts about their religion. This insecurity brings forth the need to attack anything that makes the doubts more severe so that the religious person can feel better for a while. It can be taken as a good sign though because this turmoil may enable the awakening to slowly take place and free the religious person from their prison.

Anyone who i asking "why does he talk like that" or "whats wrong with him," you should know that nothing is wrong with him. He is living in the moment. That is something that few people actually understand how to do. He doesn't have a need to rush because he understands that being in this interview is a beautiful moment in time. We are used to seeing so many people try to impress and live up to other's standards, trying to be prim and proper, or sexy and cool. He is just purely existing.

And look, its still working today, 2000 years later fear drives your faith. Are you a Christian because you love, or because you fear hell? Does it make you feel good to say "your going to burn in hell" because you dont believe like me"? I believe Jesus' message. But by some of the comments on here I doubt the majority of christians do not even understand the message of their own spiritual teacher, Jesus.

The argument about Jesus is actually quite ignorant of Christians. I do not say ignorant as a negative word but in the literal meaning "unknowing". If you look at the content of Jesus and Eckhart, they are actually speaking to the same things. Eckhart quotes Jesus several times in his first book and sites Jesus as a spiritual teacher of his. The bible (stories put together by men) is full of deception as in the case of Hell being added to keep followers fearful and in line.

Do you, when alone in nature, ever get the sense of God as being anything but peaceful, wise, and loving? The teaching of a burning hell is improper. The lake of fire means "the second death." Death is said to be hurled into this lake of fire. (Re 20:14, 20) Death obviously cannot be literally burned. In death there is no consciousness. It is, then, eternal destruction.

Among the four primary attributes of God, only one is stated this way, "God is love." (1Jo 4:8) A study of the Bible shows God is "merciful," and "slow to anger," in all this dealings, thus they are tempered in love.
The Devil, an invisible spirit creature, cannot be hurt by literal fire.
No consciousness in death is Biblical: Ec 9:5.

The bible contradicts itself ; that is why there are so many theological arguments, both sides supported by the same book..

@myyellowdream But the bible makes it clear that post death, the believer who is born again will be raised to life, and death will no longer be an option. That is not the case for those who reject the offer of salvation. God is not just love, as he offers a way out of judgment, but he is also holy and just. IN nature you see love and peace, yes, but you also see great violence and wickedness too. I think you are turning blind eye to that which you don't like. But is that the clear true picture?

If we have physical laws that are non-negotiable, why wouldn't there also be spiritual principles that worked that way too. @john146only In the account of “the rich man” and “Lazarus,” the language throughout the account is plainly parabolic and cannot be taken literally in view of all the preceding texts. The “rich man” is spoken of as being “buried” in Hades, giving further evidence that Hades means the common grave of mankind. You might research the use of the word "Hades." Its ten occurrences in the Greek scriptures will help your understanding of the actual reference to unconscious death.
