honestly, i feel also as though this is slightly biased. from all the research i've done and videos i've seen, the gs2 has better internet speeds, in given areas, better viewing angles, and better dark color definitions. if thats what you're looking for in your phone, by any means get the gs2. it's better for your preference. honestly, the sensation does provide a more realistic and better overall picture, with the possible exception of darker colors, and the sensations has better build quality

During the fog parts in the clip on my HTC it comes up as a natural white foggy appearance where as on the Galaxy s2 it shows up as a greenish coloured fog. HTC sensation is better screen display. Bought Samsung Galaxy S2 last week on most comments made from many posters to my dissapointment. Did several test between the 2 and found HTC had much better and realistic picture quality of the 2. The best test and one everyone can do before they buy the Galaxy s2 is to go onto YOU TUBE yourself and load the AVATAR HD trailer on both phones. The things that stood out for me was the brightness quality between the 2 phones in dark parts of the movie.
@thanasi1978 But you can switch between different "screen modes" on the GS2, and if you choose "movie mode" it reduces the over-saturated colors, and by using screen color adjustment apps you can do an RGB and contrast balance and have really natural looking colors on the GS2, while still having better darks and viewing angles.
The only advantage of SGSII over Sensation is its Super AMOLED + display , which only on videos looks that much better , in real the difference isn't that huge.
HTC Sensation has 100 times better disign . SGSII looks like BIG,sharpened Iphone.
HTC SENSE 3.0 is 1000 times more beautiful , functional , interesting , innovative than ugly , 2D , iphone look touchwiz 4. Also HTC S3.0 interface is completely 3D . Widgets, videos, gallery, homescreens - everything looks better than TW4.0

Pixels/resolution make a difference and you can see it.
Do a white screen test, no doubt the S2 has better blacks but the HTC has whiter whites. Looks like the S2 defaults with more vibrance also. Do a real test with text, that's what people see most often. I will probably buy the HTC.

It's the weirdest thing, despite the fact the myTouch 4G has a Super-LCD it does not wash out when you put it at an angle. I wonder if their is some thing wrong with the Sensations S-LCD panel?
@dexxapi not true the sgs2 has problems with text's especially from the website's in the browser, they have to run "anti aliasing" to make the words look more round & to keep the edges from looking blocky. but its still noticeable, people are complaining about this & it might be fixed with a kernel upgrade since the galaxy browser is the only one that comes straight out using the gpu for processing web pages.
I've seen both in a store and I personally can't tell difference between sensation and gs2 in terms of resolution. But the gs2 had a brighter screen and very good contrast. And really dark blacks which I really like.
@Roboloved how old are you? dont you know you cant ever really compare screens from from a computer moniter because they have different settings. what he sees is not what your seeing. example when you see a tv moniter in a video & you see the scanning on the tv's or moniters but in real llife you dont see it. the same goes for lcd's,youll notice the lines of pixels packed in. if you dont know what im talking about then i dont know what to tell you.
@abirz11 the qHD sLCD is the same in colors & contrast but when you tilt the screen past a certain degree it loses those qualities almost instantly where the super amoled & amoled plus keep them at any angle.
The slcd used in IS, NS, I9003 has very high viewing angle. Actually I doubt Sensation uses slcd at all. The lcd quality is not much different from DHD.
@TheMZKey htc doesnt suck, they have really nice devices (i dont have an htc device i have the nexus S by samsung) ,really nice build quality and great interface, but the suffer screen problems.
your vids are fantastic. I'm struggling between the HTC Sensation and the Samsung Galaxy S2 and your reviews help a lot. Normally I'm a HUGE htc fan but apart from Sense UI the Galaxy pretty much wins. I just wish it had a prettier (rd: less of an apple rip off) look. TouchWiz just feels like they've nicked the idea from apple. Sense on the other hand is gorgeous, but SGS@ has Amoled... grrr. it's so frustrating trying to choose.
The real benefit of the qhd may does not show in pictures. But you see a lot more content in gmail or in the browser or any other app!. That is for me the biggest plus of qhd and makes it superiore to s2

Sam, Honestly I noticed your reviews are VERY biased towards the SGS2. In order to conduct an accurate test on the screens is to test the actual resolution and not the color, because obviously the SGS2 will win due to the Super Amoled + screen. You would have to show different pictures or text at a zoomed out rate to see which picture is more crisp. Also, you need to show us an actual picture of Beans, because I don't believe the Sensation fades pictures that badly.
@scottscott08 the sensation does have wifi calling, its called "sip" its in the settings,call & then "use internet calling" there youll have the sip or setup for voip calling aka internet calling. so yes it is built in & yes he is biased.

He just has to provide the facts & reasoning.Look at this .Sensation Vs S2: 1) Screen: S2 has better view angles.At appropriate angles both are same. 2) Benchmarks: S2 is bound to get higher scores cos its got 35% less pixels to render than sensation and has 256 MB more of RAM. 3) S2's got NFC support. Apart from these three factors Sensation kicks S2's Ass!

@thug3m NO. iphone 4 has problems with calling. sensation only with wifi and bluetooth. death grip can be reached easily with iphone 4. with the sensation, u must have monkey-like hands to get in the "death grip" position.
@samjpullen You didnt read what he said, he just said that you dont have to lean upon anything when reviewing, it is obviously clear that you like the s2, but youre pissing people off when you dont tell them why. When the sensation has to render 32% more pixels then offcourse its slower, when it has HTC Sense which is the most custimizable interface existing on android, it requires more ram. Therefore it is slower, these things you havent mentioned once in your videos therefore its a bad review!

@samjpullen I am positive that anyone in here would agree that launcher pro is not the same as sense - not even close. There is so many features like the; statusbar, dock, widgets and lockscreen, in pro launcher that doesnt seem anything near the same feel as sense can produce, so for you saying that sense is a downgrade from launcher is just being ignorant.

@theneo87 nothing a little 100mgz overclock cant fix :), sgs2 is 1.2 also so im pretty sure a 1.3mgz htc would fix the 35% extra pixel problem. i have the evo 3D so it has 1 gig of ram as well.

@theneo87 The screen is just one thing the S2 trashes the Sensation at. Nobody cares about specs or resolution. People care about how it looks and performs in the real world, and if samsung can achieve better looks with fewer pixels, then we can safely say they've done a better job, end of story.

AMOLED produces the deeper blacks and better contrast, thus resulting in better colors. The overall image looks better even at a lower resolution. That's what I was saying, I wasn't even talking about viewing angles. Although I will give you an example of when view angles can be really annoying: Watching videos on it with a friend. Angles can matter :)
@theneo87 It is also a well known fact that the 218 PPI pixel density that the Galaxy S2 has is about the magic border where you get diminishing return on image quality and it no longer pays off to add more pixels. The only thing really affected from that point on is text. And in all honesty, the text is perfectly sharp and readable as it is, so that's not necessary. If that little difference is giving you trouble, then chances are you have eye problems and shouldn't be reading stuff on phones.
@garanixx With the Lock screen I agree, I love the lock screen on Sense 3.0, the rest? nah.
Using launcher pro you can customise the dock, in sense you can't do anything bar change the colour.
Widgets? beautiful widgets much nicer with custom clocks, weather etc and you can customise with the widgets on launcher pro, they look great while using less memory - Follows on

Sorry Sam but your resolution test seems flawed. You cant see a difference in screen resolution by zooming in on a picture. When zooming in you are just seeing the pixels of your digital photo. A true test to see if higher resolution makes a difference between the 2 screens is to fully zoom out on the same webpage for both phones and see which one still has readable text. Have read in other comparisons and reviews that sensations text remains very readable whiles gs2s text goes blurry/pixelated
I wish HTC would start using SAmoled and bigger batteries. The HTC Sens software is almost on par with Apple for ease of use and style.

@Lyricsmaker321 i wasnt even saying the sensation is better lol i know the sensation is crappy. battery to screen ratio is crap. i know the gs2 is faster because its an arm9 processor, qualacomm uses arm8 and compesated by going 1.2 ghz . hoping that the gs2 would stay at 1 ghz but unfortunatly samsung caught on and pushed it ahead at the cost of more battery life lol. ram well anyone who can read knows that the sensation has less ram along with sense the biggest recource hogs.

It's the weirdest thing, despite the fact the myTouch 4G has a Super-LCD it does not wash out when you put it at an angle. I wonder if their is some thing wrong with the Sensations S-LCD panel?

@dexxapi not true the sgs2 has problems with text's especially from the website's in the browser, they have to run "anti aliasing" to make the words look more round & to keep the edges from looking blocky. but its still noticeable, people are complaining about this & it might be fixed with a kernel upgrade since the galaxy browser is the only one that comes straight out using the gpu for processing web pages.

I've seen both in a store and I personally can't tell difference between sensation and gs2 in terms of resolution. But the gs2 had a brighter screen and very good contrast. And really dark blacks which I really like.

@Roboloved how old are you? dont you know you cant ever really compare screens from from a computer moniter because they have different settings. what he sees is not what your seeing. example when you see a tv moniter in a video & you see the scanning on the tv's or moniters but in real llife you dont see it. the same goes for lcd's,youll notice the lines of pixels packed in. if you dont know what im talking about then i dont know what to tell you.

@abirz11 the qHD sLCD is the same in colors & contrast but when you tilt the screen past a certain degree it loses those qualities almost instantly where the super amoled & amoled plus keep them at any angle.

The slcd used in IS, NS, I9003 has very high viewing angle. Actually I doubt Sensation uses slcd at all. The lcd quality is not much different from DHD.

your vids are fantastic. I'm struggling between the HTC Sensation and the Samsung Galaxy S2 and your reviews help a lot. Normally I'm a HUGE htc fan but apart from Sense UI the Galaxy pretty much wins. I just wish it had a prettier (rd: less of an apple rip off) look. TouchWiz just feels like they've nicked the idea from apple. Sense on the other hand is gorgeous, but SGS@ has Amoled... grrr. it's so frustrating trying to choose.

The real benefit of the qhd may does not show in pictures. But you see a lot more content in gmail or in the browser or any other app!. That is for me the biggest plus of qhd and makes it superiore to s2

Great videos man, but I have to tell you though:
When checking pixelation in displays, don't zoom in. Zoom OUT.
Zooming in would detect pixelation in the actual image, eg if you want to check which of two images have the highest resolution.
To check pixelation performance on the display itself, take a detailed picture / text and zoom out, then move the camera/eye close and see the result.
Making the details in an image bigger by zooming won't help, higher res is for showing smaller details!

Sam, Honestly I noticed your reviews are VERY biased towards the SGS2. In order to conduct an accurate test on the screens is to test the actual resolution and not the color, because obviously the SGS2 will win due to the Super Amoled + screen. You would have to show different pictures or text at a zoomed out rate to see which picture is more crisp. Also, you need to show us an actual picture of Beans, because I don't believe the Sensation fades pictures that badly.

@samjpullen The way you conduct review is awesome! But you are missing out on factor , a great reviewer is never biased towards anything. He just has to provide the facts & reasoning.Look at this .Sensation Vs S2: 1) Screen: S2 has better view angles.At appropriate angles both are same. 2) Benchmarks: S2 is bound to get higher scores cos its got 35% less pixels to render than sensation and has 256 MB more of RAM. 3) S2's got NFC support. Apart from these three factors Sensation kicks S2's Ass!

@thug3m NO. iphone 4 has problems with calling. sensation only with wifi and bluetooth. death grip can be reached easily with iphone 4. with the sensation, u must have monkey-like hands to get in the "death grip" position.

@samjpullen You didnt read what he said, he just said that you dont have to lean upon anything when reviewing, it is obviously clear that you like the s2, but youre pissing people off when you dont tell them why. When the sensation has to render 32% more pixels then offcourse its slower, when it has HTC Sense which is the most custimizable interface existing on android, it requires more ram. Therefore it is slower, these things you havent mentioned once in your videos therefore its a bad review!

There is so many features like the; statusbar, dock, widgets and lockscreen, in pro launcher that doesnt seem anything near the same feel as sense can produce, so for you saying that sense is a downgrade from launcher is just being ignorant.

You yourself have listed 3 ways that the S2 is superior, but have not listed any advantages the Sensation has over the S2, but you conclude that the Sensation "kicks ass", nonetheless. In this case I believe the onus is on your to show why the Sensation kicks ass. If you have listed those factors in an earlier post, I apologize, and would ask you to kindly point me to it. Thx!

don't hung up on 256 mb more. this isn't the reason of the lower speed. its sense. pack sense on the sgs2 and let's talk about speed. or take touch wiz and put it on the sensation. don't forget the things making a smartphone a smartphone. look at the phones. the sgs2 breaks much more earlier in case of falling down to the ground.for example the screen would chip off much easier than with the contured glass

No the Sensation does not "kick S2'2 ass" as you put it. They're both high end phones and both excellent devices. They both have their own ugly, nasty technical problems and they both have areas they excell at over the other.

Talking of the screen , that too , you cant say that SGS2 is way better , Super Amoled + display is one of the best technology , but sensation display is crisper , real colour production. Only thing is its not that good in viewing angles as

@theneo87 The screen is just one thing the S2 trashes the Sensation at. Nobody cares about specs or resolution. People care about how it looks and performs in the real world, and if samsung can achieve better looks with fewer pixels, then we can safely say they've done a better job, end of story.

@theneo87 When did you see or hear anybody say that the Sensation produces better colors than the S2? No my friend, it's the other way around.. AMOLED produces the deeper blacks and better contrast, thus resulting in better colors. The overall image looks better even at a lower resolution. That's what I was saying, I wasn't even talking about viewing angles. Although I will give you an example of when view angles can be really annoying: Watching videos on it with a friend. Angles can matter :)

@theneo87 It is also a well known fact that the 218 PPI pixel density that the Galaxy S2 has is about the magic border where you get diminishing return on image quality and it no longer pays off to add more pixels. The only thing really affected from that point on is text. And in all honesty, the text is perfectly sharp and readable as it is, so that's not necessary. If that little difference is giving you trouble, then chances are you have eye problems and shouldn't be reading stuff on phones.

@garanixx With the Lock screen I agree, I love the lock screen on Sense 3.0, the rest? nah.
Using launcher pro you can customise the dock, in sense you can't do anything bar change the colour.
Widgets? beautiful widgets much nicer with custom clocks, weather etc and you can customise with the widgets on launcher pro, they look great while using less memory - Follows on

I couldn't be doing with tilting my phone to the perfect viewing angle all the time, that would really annoy me, I'll take the Samsung anyday!!! Amazing phone and I defo want to zoom in further too so another bonus over the HTC.

Sorry Sam but your resolution test seems flawed. You cant see a difference in screen resolution by zooming in on a picture. When zooming in you are just seeing the pixels of your digital photo. A true test to see if higher resolution makes a difference between the 2 screens is to fully zoom out on the same webpage for both phones and see which one still has readable text. Have read in other comparisons and reviews that sensations text remains very readable whiles gs2s text goes blurry/pixelated
