Hi gilley I'm maining guile and just got my stick and can't get the hang of the right grip of the stick its like mid way through agame I lose focus on gripping my stick, or change my grip automatically to another . Is their a method that you use while in game play tx
1. How do I defend against quick opponents like Ryu, Chun Li or Fei Long? Say what you want asbout Shotos but they are quick and they can smell blood.
2. Combos are tricky enough with non charge characters but how do excute them with characters?
3. There are some that requie me to zig zag my joysdtick, like charge then press the buttons oging northwest then punch? Any shorter way to execute this? As I can handle forwards, backwards, up and down but zig zagging is a tricky beast.
@gilleybaba could you theoretically use hit confirmation with any of the jabs to finish those combos with a flash kick versus a fierce punch or would the flash whiff at that range? For example instead of throwing 2 booms could you replace the second boom with a flash if you get hit confirmation on the previous boom>l/mp?
What about the handcuffs. It's been since the sf2 days I remember jump in with a fierce punch reverse spinning leg kick ....sonic boom. And to unlock the timer it was a flash kick. O well
Nice guide, i recently bought a SE edition fight stick but im having trouble pulling of (Ken, Ryu, Sagat, etc...) Ultra combos facing the right side i know this vid has nothing to do with these characters but can some1 help me please!
Dude, I appreciate your videos they are very helpful, specially for someone like who is really trying to learn Guile, I wanna say thank you, and please keep them coming, your videos are helping me a lot :)
Great stuff man, I had to figure shit like this out on my own since I started SF4 in July... and I didn't get this one yet, thanks!
However, if Capcom had been more nitpicky with their programming since older Street Fighters, players would never have been able to develop techs like this. Thank god for that!
In fightertific terms, it's called Charge Buffering. It's probably the best way to use a character that uses charging for their moves, such as Guile and Blanka.
And no, charge partitioning cannot be done in this game. It was exclusively for 3S.
The corner combos in the vid are done by pre-charging as soon as guile starts his jump (you are holding db the entire time Guile is in the air). The combo at 3:35, the charge is started in the air. The first two hits allow the charge time to be completed for the 1st sonic boom (3rd attack in the string). After the 1st sonic boom, immediately go back to precharging db. The next two hits allow for the charge time of the 2nd sonic boom to be completed.
That is a wicked corner combo. It's sad that people have to be told about pre-charging instead of them just naturally finding it out. When you are using charge chars, you should already know that you're at a disadvantage because you have to wait to execute moves. Naturally, you should be coming to conclusions to reduce the wait time on those moves.
Positive. I pre-charged all the time with him on an snes pad back in the day. It's not hard. With Guile, all you're doing is holding the db position. It's best to pre-charge with db, since guile can execute both of his signature moves from that starting position. Ex: hold db 2 secs to f+p will give you a sonic boom. Hold db 2 secs to u+k will give you a flash kick. It's important to pre-charge your charge chars, because it's a major part of their ability to get counter hits from their specials.
On the contrary... the more people know the better they play and the more competitive (and thus more entertaining) network battles are. Unless of course u only play to pick on beginners...
LOL, sorry, seems i took it too seriously... By the way, is it possible to charge partition with Guile in IV like you could do with Remy in 3rd Strike?
In all SF games, only one of each kind of projectile, per character, can be on the screen at the same time. So Guile can have 1 sonic boom out on screen.
Remy's charge partitioning stacked cumulatively and was also possible because his high and low sonic booms (ok ok, lights of virtue) counted as two separate projectiles. That meant he could have both on the screen at once, making it much easier to accumulate charge time.
i was wondering if anyone knew out there, i use a ordinary ps3 controller and use guile whenever im in tha mood, im pretty consistent with his links and everything else, but can you pre-charge guiles sb's on the ps3 pad? i use the d-pad so its pretty different to the arcade stick
I'm having such a hard time learning to play with charge character. I just cant get goog enough for a real match. I'm using Street Fighter Alpha 3 by the way.
you don't ALWAYS throw them that way because then you don't gain anything - you have the same charge-time, you're just offsetting the timing of the forward and the timing of the punch. You throw them this way whenever you can, but if you need another SB immediatley after, you throw it as normal.

Wow...you hypocrite, I saw you getting on someone at the Arcade Infinity KOFXII videos about talking shyt on a "snk page". Now your doing the same thing..
Again, this is bullshit people. This guy is clearly using a 3rd generation time machine (an Oh-Shit 4000 model) from the 1950s to go back seconds in time to toggle between button commands, which therefore allows you to pull off such accurate and precise combos; another words your slowing time down. I'm reporting his Guile-ass to the CIA and the NSA (but if he gives me that $180 stick controller I might reconsider).
