  • And if you use hitbox its EVEN faster!

  • Very nice video. Thanks for the upload.

  • Hi gilley I'm maining guile and just got my stick and can't get the hang of the right grip of the stick its like mid way through agame I lose focus on gripping my stick, or change my grip automatically to another . Is their a method that you use while in game play tx

  • 1. How do I defend against quick opponents like Ryu, Chun Li or Fei Long? Say what you want asbout Shotos but they are quick and they can smell blood.

    2. Combos are tricky enough with non charge characters but how do excute them with characters?

    3. There are some that requie me to zig zag my joysdtick, like charge then press the buttons oging northwest then punch? Any shorter way to execute this? As I can handle forwards, backwards, up and down but zig zagging is a tricky beast.

  • but with ssf4 3ds you can just spam it in lite mode :(

  • @talonsl007 this is why you look for people using pro mode

  • thx

  • wasnt feeling the vid until you showed your 2 sonic booms in 1 combo with no fadc. .......

  • @gilleybaba could you theoretically use hit confirmation with any of the jabs to finish those combos with a flash kick versus a fierce punch or would the flash whiff at that range? For example instead of throwing 2 booms could you replace the second boom with a flash if you get hit confirmation on the previous boom>l/mp?

  • bro u are a true guile god i aim to be like u bro thanks for this seriously

  • Thanks you man! you helped me alot!

  • thanks for the charging tips. I can chain combos from C. Jack now :)

  • What about the handcuffs. It's been since the sf2 days I remember jump in with a fierce punch reverse spinning leg kick ....sonic boom. And to unlock the timer it was a flash kick. O well

  • Goodshit I'm waiting in sanwa jstick will implement asap

  • use MP and you will ALWAYS be able to keep up with any speed with hadoukens

  • weed

  • thank you

  • hella helpful

  • Nice video! I've been doing this since WW... yeah, it works in the old games too.

  • Guile combo master! Guile is a very special character. Underrated I think in SFIV consider so much Shotokan and Sa "I spam tiger shots" gat players.

    Thanx, learned a lot!

  • Thanks for the tutorial I wanted to learn how to use Guile hopfully I'll get better watching this

  • you should do a Guile combo video with Super Street Fighter IV

  • Great Tutorials man this on and your last one after seeing the super cancell vid i could do it big guile fan to.

  • Very informative. I'll have to give this a go tonight.

  • Damn man, thanks for posting this up. You have opened my eyes with these.

  • ive been playing sf for years and this is the first time i found out about this. thanks

  • also known as charge buffering

  • Awesome video. I'm sexually excited by you.

  • Wow, I never even knew this. Thanks.

  • Great tutorial. I learned a lot. This technique will not only help me in SF IV but 3rd Strike and many other fighting games as well.

Guile master right here. You're the best. And I've never seen those Guile combos or follow-ups before. Good stuff.

  • this is a keeper!!!

  • Hi, thanks for the tutorials but could you tell me how to do that combo at 3:33 and explain it like this. Jump,hk,lp...ect

    Thanks 5*

  • +5 love your guile combo tutorials.

  • You help a lot man Great video.

  • Ok I see thats how it works ...

  • Great stuff man, I had to figure shit like this out on my own since I started SF4 in July... and I didn't get this one yet, thanks!

However, if Capcom had been more nitpicky with their programming since older Street Fighters, players would never have been able to develop techs like this. Thank god for that!

  • I need a new fightstick so bad!

  • In fightertific terms, it's called Charge Buffering. It's probably the best way to use a character that uses charging for their moves, such as Guile and Blanka.

And no, charge partitioning cannot be done in this game. It was exclusively for 3S.

  • Street Fighter terms... lol

  • Hahaha i know yeah. 'Special words' like charge buffering, focus dash etc.

  • oh CRAP that explains why I've not been able to do partitioning so far XD

  • woah 2:45

  • Im a fan guile , look at the great matches on my page

  • awesome bro

  • Thanks for sharing this awesome tip!

  • The corner combos in the vid are done by pre-charging as soon as guile starts his jump (you are holding db the entire time Guile is in the air). The combo at 3:35, the charge is started in the air. The first two hits allow the charge time to be completed for the 1st sonic boom (3rd attack in the string). After the 1st sonic boom, immediately go back to precharging db. The next two hits allow for the charge time of the 2nd sonic boom to be completed.

  • That is a wicked corner combo. It's sad that people have to be told about pre-charging instead of them just naturally finding it out. When you are using charge chars, you should already know that you're at a disadvantage because you have to wait to execute moves. Naturally, you should be coming to conclusions to reduce the wait time on those moves.

  • does this only apply to arcade joysticks?

  • Precharging? Of course not...

  • really? i'm having some trouble pulling it off on a d pad >__>

  • Positive. I pre-charged all the time with him on an snes pad back in the day. It's not hard. With Guile, all you're doing is holding the db position. It's best to pre-charge with db, since guile can execute both of his signature moves from that starting position. Ex: hold db 2 secs to f+p will give you a sonic boom. Hold db 2 secs to u+k will give you a flash kick. It's important to pre-charge your charge chars, because it's a major part of their ability to get counter hits from their specials.

  • you are the man !!!

  • mAN THIS guy is sick :D:D:D:D:D

  • stop giving away secrets to these noobs!

  • On the contrary... the more people know the better they play and the more competitive (and thus more entertaining) network battles are. Unless of course u only play to pick on beginners...

  • it was meant to be a joke :P

  • LOL, sorry, seems i took it too seriously... By the way, is it possible to charge partition with Guile in IV like you could do with Remy in 3rd Strike?

  • @Carolitagirl Nooo, not nearly to that extent.

In all SF games, only one of each kind of projectile, per character, can be on the screen at the same time. So Guile can have 1 sonic boom out on screen.

Remy's charge partitioning stacked cumulatively and was also possible because his high and low sonic booms (ok ok, lights of virtue) counted as two separate projectiles. That meant he could have both on the screen at once, making it much easier to accumulate charge time.

  • i was wondering if anyone knew out there, i use a ordinary ps3 controller and use guile whenever im in tha mood, im pretty consistent with his links and everything else, but can you pre-charge guiles sb's on the ps3 pad? i use the d-pad so its pretty different to the arcade stick

    -1-

  • U can precharge on the dpad. Same rule applies to every other controller.

  • kool thanks, its harder though

  • yeah you can

  • u're cool dude

  • Nice.

So that's how they do it so fast.

I knew there was some trick in it.

    Nice video man...

    You just won another subscriber.

  • I'm having such a hard time learning to play with charge character. I just cant get goog enough for a real match. I'm using Street Fighter Alpha 3 by the way.

  • I played alpha 3, and thats how I learned to play with charge chars, like Vega and Guile

  • yeah Guile pwns, my favorite

  • Thx! You should do more videos using this angle for recording! About other characters too! Nice one dude

  • very nice, thanks! :)

  • you don't ALWAYS throw them that way because then you don't gain anything - you have the same charge-time, you're just offsetting the timing of the forward and the timing of the punch. You throw them this way whenever you can, but if you need another SB immediatley after, you throw it as normal.

  • nice one, can you make a list of your combos plz...lol

  • Still, nice combos man!

  • Thanks for this. You're an inspirational Guile player

  • Cool story, bro.

  • So I'm guessing it works for flash kicks also?

  • This technique is useful for all charge characters. Including Bison and Balrog, as well as Chun-li (for her fireball).

  • is it just me or does the pre charging to make sonic booms work like this only works with medium and heavy punch but not light punch?

  • thanks again. nice tips.

  • @ ChangFromUS

Gilley has been playing since SF2 and is considered one of the best Guile players in the US

    you're a dumbass

  • Definately helped my Balrog out with a faster charge making combos way easier

    5/5 for u bro

    Sweet vid

  • do you have this for ps3 or 360 man?

  • Charge Buffering.

  • Fingernägel schneiden das solltest du mal machen ^^

  • damn, 4 thumbs up! xP you da man with guile dude, really helpful

  • were do u get the board??? I want it

  • gamestop, they are like 80$ lol

  • So not worth the $80. Maybe $20. But NOT $80!

  • Thank you so much for this video - definitely stepped up my Guile with this.

  • thanks sean, that's a pretty good tip that im sure a lot of people never thought about. i have become a Guile main cause of your videos.

  • I'm hopin this helps out my Chun a bit =) Thanks for the great vid!!

  • As a Chun player it does help out. Also handy for any charge character.

  • Thanks alot bro! :)

  • i want that arcade stick but its sold out here :(

  • Good stuff. I'm glad to see always naturally holding down back has allowed me to do this without being taught it.

  • one of these should be made for every character type - excellent job gilley.

  • Great video! Very helpful. Is this technique better with a square gate or an octagon gate?

  • also what he didnt mention is that this works with all charge characters. I even tried it on hd remix

  • i tried it and did it at least ten times in a row, so u can do it the whole match if u want

  • Thanks for the vid bro!!

  • You're the reason why I still play Guile. I had no idea he was capable of stuff like this until I saw your videos.

  • Dude I agree! Now I feel confident about playing Guile again. = )

  • As a Guile main, I am so glad there's a video like this to help me improve my game. Thanks for the vid man!

  • great vid 5/5

  • I can Kinda do this now........ well I can do a 4 to 5 hit combo

  • Again, this is bullshit people. This guy is clearly using a 3rd generation time machine (an Oh-Shit 4000 model) from the 1950s to go back seconds in time to toggle between button commands, which therefore allows you to pull off such accurate and precise combos; another words your slowing time down. I'm reporting his Guile-ass to the CIA and the NSA (but if he gives me that $180 stick controller I might reconsider).

  • why are people giving you thumbs down for this comment?

You are a funny man. My only regret is not coming up with a comment like this earlier

  • you sir are amazing

  • this was extremely helpful thx for upload

  • This Tutorial Fuckin' ROCKS man!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS

  • You can only keep up with it for 2 -3 fireballs at the best pre-charges! :P~~

  • Awesome!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for the helpful tips!

  • cool

thanks a lot. i always wanted to know exactly WHEN you do the hold backs when you use guile combos.

    this video was so helpful.

  • how do you nail balrog's headbut to the ultra really good does it need to be pre-charged

  • thanx

  • maaaaaaaaaan fuck this shit i need a stick, BAD. Playing with the 360 controller is like fighting 2 opponents at once; The other player, and the D-pad. Jeez.

  • LMAO sooooo true

  • lmfao 2 opponents at once XD

  • i couldnt tell from you hands but when u do a crouching fierce do you do the sonic boom from negative edge?

  • Very nice vid man. Thanks on behalf of the SF community.

  • Thanks! Even though I don't use Guile (yet), I applied the pre-charge to other charge characters: Chun-Li, Balrog, M. Bison and it helped improve my game.

  • thanks man this video helped me out alot

  • Man thanx a looooooot for that!

I spent a long time wondering how you can pull out sonic booms that fast!

Thanks once more, that's very useful ;)

  • Guile nerfed? cant believe that some ppl say that

they just don't know how to play him.

you the other hand seem to know him well!

But not the Guile's I meet on online lol

I'm trying to learn Vega With my PS3 controller...

its hard lol but! I waiting on the same stick you have!

Don't know when I will get it but soon I hope =)

  • Thank you!

  • fuck yeah man, thanks to you, i've gotten alot better using guile, can do some of ur combos!

  • Sup Gilley.

Question on when you release the medium punch in a combo into a sonic boom with the pre charge tech.

I am so used to press release in this instance.

Could you be a little more descriptive on yer 2 in ones with pre charge.

    Ty in advance.

  • nice video

  • you are the man!!!!!!

  • This is awesome for any charge character!

  • i never knew you could do that.

    awesome.

too bad i dont play guile.

  • nice. thanks alot

  • How do you pull off the Super or Ultra after K.O. like in the Combo Video? Are the commands already entered by the time K.O. hits the screen?

  • Awesome video Gilley, SFIV is my first time enjoying charge characters. I played mostly Ken in 3S but have been playing the shit out of Guile and Rog in SFIV, these videos are a big help.

  • yo can u show us some combos plz ? n how u time it rlly good guile is my fav and i win 50% of my game and i suscribed

  • dude your videos give me hope with using guile.. hes always been my favorite and i was always good with him.. but your on a level with guile that i would never match. but having these tutorials up has brought my skill up greatly!! an im starting 2 use guile at his full potential!!

  • pretty much what you said goes for me aswell man, but i dont think ill ever be able to do this on my ps3 controller :( lol gonna try though!

    awesome vid, very inspirational ;)

  • i do this, but i never knew why it worked,

  • Now that's what I'm talking about, man! A true Guile master.

Although...how many of those combos work against a blocking opponent?...

  • Thanks, I had done it that fast once or twice but could never repeat it. Don't know if I ever would have figured it out without this.

  • great video thanks

  • Glad to see these tips for Guile...He is a character worth mastering! Thanks Gilly!

  • wow thats some crazy stuff at 3:35

  • lol

  • Can you do these combos using a regular controller? Myself, I don't find the xbox controller conducive to playing street fighter, but I've never been good at using a joystick either. For me the playstation controller was always the best. I'd be interested to see a video of your hand movements using an xbox controller doing these combos. I'm having a hard time finishing guile challenge mode.

  • Get a stick

  • get a stick and learn

  • Me too, I can only get to the fourth state. This helped a lot and had a good insight though. He really is the best at Guile and probably every other character. I'd love to see him play online vs. someone.

    Keep em' coming!

  • So cool. Can you work Bison too?

  • Guile at his finest. To quote him:

    "GOOD JOB"

  • idk wht i am doin wrong here he will not do it for me

  • you just helped me reach a new level with this!

    THANK YOU!

  • wow, crazy combos. i have a lot of work to do

please put up more tutorials, they are great!

  • thanks 4 the tutorial great help

  • Comment removed

  • lol

  • pro.

  • Can the same technique be used for flash kicks i.e. charge d, u, d+k?

  • Unfortunately no, when you press up without pressing kick, you will jump.

  • Of course! Thanks for the reply.
