@nazerts101 its true, thats why we will keep going back to ww2 for that drama, simply put, warfare probably will not entail putting men inside of machines in the future, for anything he can do in a cockpit, he can do remotely. so ww2 and the surrounding period will likely be the stuff of imagination forever, look at space combat movies like star wars, its all based off ww2 style drama.

Well, birds of prey is for the console lot. Console controllers don't have any where near as many buttons to control a plane.

So compromise is necessary, which is why I don't like the idea of IL-2 on a console.

German bombers used to use British radio to triangulate their position to the target (before RDF).

So Mr. Smart Ass... Some pilots did have streaming classical music.

IL1946(PC) 50+ players on one map, attacking bettyes with high speed dive attacks, stupidly trying to out maneuver a zake with a corsair, zoom and boom attacks on unsespecting planes, landing without elevators or ailerons, skip bombing, falling to your death becouse you thought you could turn with a p38 at high speed, blacking out and falling to your death, seeing two (or more) of your chasers collide behind you becouse they got too greedy for the kill... PC rulez!

Completed both missions on simulator setting. Landing is a bitch, especially if the aircraft is shot up.

This sim is pure art.

Mmm, when it comes to 'sims' on consoles, it's no longer about realism so much.. More graphics and 'fun' gameplay. A lot of people play IL-2 on PC for the first time and hate it because it leaves them confuzled. ie: "O zomg! I liek totaly had teh cwosshair on him why did he die not?!?!" and so on..

So why not fill it with the usual 'Acecombat' gimmicks? =P

That is the arcade version of this, selectable in options. The cool bits were in-game, but edited slightly with some kind of cropping and panning.

Don't forget the engine on il-2 is 9 years old... And is still very good if you would compare. But indeed, i am also watching forward for new new games to come out.
