Does anyone know what he's up to these days? He was supposed to be starring in an English movie this month called Fallen, but I haven't heard a thing!
he's doing a fine job in Lost. I'm impressed not just with the smoothness of his English now but his timing and intonation. He seems to act naturally with the language now.
Great actor. I'm glad he's doing well in Hollywood. Most actors would be happy just to be popular in their own country but true men like H.Sanada, Koji Yakusho and Watanabe Ken challenge themselves on the international plateau.
@EvilKris it's not like actors are satisfied with just getting popular in their own country. of course they want to be known in many different countries, but that's a really hard thing. So don't say that only they are true men. everyone's doing their best. (sorry if my grammer's wrong:P)
@w1126aaa sorry maybe 'true men' was the wrong way to put it. I meant to say I'm impressed with their boldness at being truly the first Japanese internationally recognised movie-stars. It's great but, perhaps you are correct that everyone else also desires that opportunity. But I know many Japanese are pretty shy -especially with speaking English- so being in their position takes some confidence. 驚異的 な文法から心配無用

というか、勘違いしている人が多いようですが、彼は英語はペラペラです。はっきり言ってここにいる日本人の誰よりしゃべれるのでは？
そもそも、ラストサムライのときは渡辺謙もしゃべれなかったから真田が通訳していたくらい。

i have seen the show before that chinese-american was acting japanese and his japanese pronunciation was terrible like just reading roma-ji.
i felt it really unnutural.and i could never focus to the story.
LOST is the fiction but it has reality and there is the respects to the each nation.
i love the show very much.
Carlton is the genius and very good-hearted person.
im not big sanada hiroyuki fan but i think he did great job too.

イギリス映画（SF映画だったかな？）にもでてるんだから英語がうんぬんてのはないんじゃないの？
そういえば中国語でもちゃんと演技してたよね？
日本語、中国語、英語で全編でれてアクションもできるアジアの俳優って普通に貴重だとおもうが
まぁなんか怪しげな日本人よりも英語圏の人のほうが評価してくれてるのが証拠でしょ

@NIHONICHIBAAN アメリカのアジア人俳優の韓国人や中国人も第一にアメリカ人なわけですから、地元の日本人や韓国人の俳優も別にお互いハリウッドを「目指して」仕事しているつもりではないと思いますよ。それ以前にロストは直接ハリウッドと関係ないですけどね。

東洋人というよりは日本人にそういうのが多い気がします。
逆にワイルドスピードの日本人役はほとんど中国人や韓国人ですし。マッハGoGoなんかもそうでした。
