Valmy, Lodi, Arcole, Pyramids, Marengo, Austerlitz, Jena, Wagram, Smolensk, Borodino, Dresden, Ligny, Marne (1st), Verdun, Marne (2nd), Koufra, Normandy, and countless of special operations in newer history. These are only a handful of glorious victories by the French army the past 200 years. So read some history, seems like it wouldn't hurt you… France surrendered in Vietnam but so did the USA.

The Third Reich was by far the most technologicaly advanced army of its time, and wouldn't it be for the millions and millions of russians dying at the east front against german supremacy, the third reich would easily take over the rest of europe and more.

And at the time, not everyone in europe saw the Reich as an enemy, or atleat not as the greatest enemy. But defeat in -40 did not stop frenchmen from fighting to free la République.
