Hes just going where he wants to musically without worrying about what anyone else thinks, i think thats the best mentality for a musician to have. Wish more musicians did that instead of trying to please fans by making the same record over and over!
@freexfalling1 you said it man if your never going somewhere then your going nowhere and after a while people wont want to follow someone thats standing still. Its a sin that people dont realize this.
John fucked his creditability by coming out as a Dave Mathews wannabe, and then changed into an SRV wannabe. Then he went out and got a full sleeve tat to give himself an edgy image. Now he's trying to morph into an Arlo Guthrie wannabe...
What look and sound are you going to go for next, John? Kim Thayil?
Normally I would be upset that John's playing cowboy music... But I love the man's music so much... He can do whatever the hell we wants and i'll love it!
@jak729 yes, sorry if my answer implied that john mayer got famous by taking melodies from andy mckee, during the timeframe that you mentioned, what i mean was the after effect after andy got famous, circa 2007
@JAKE887 I'm a massive fan of both Andy Mckee and John mayer, seen both on them live twice. Could you give some examples of where Mayer copied Mckee? I would actually love it if he had, would kinda show some links in my mish mash musical tastes, but I can't hear it, could you tell me some ideas he stole please?
I think JM nailed the point. Many factories and great brands lose the geniuses and the craftmanship that made them great over the years.
Few companies, challenged by many unfair compromises of a worldwide market, tend to forget their 'vision' and 'mission'. Very good people leave or are cut out by modern financial policies. And we lose the chance to see very fine instruments and creations reaching public.
Let's hope many companies stay true and top with their people and their work
@TheTwistedmistr What a douchey thing to write in context of what I wrote. Musicality is a word - it's a great word. And I've seen your page and can tell you like some good music which confuses me... because why would you want to stop people from using a word like musicality? Oh yeah, because you're a douche.
IS THAT JOHNNY DEPPP........

I think john mayer is fantastic but when he goes into his spacey nothing really there music I think it's a bit self indulgent and boring.
I really love the more up tempo tunes on the live album, brilliant.

@jondotwoz It's a Martin, anyway. I'd rather have a Taylor, Guild, Gibson, or PRS before any Martin.
