Wow, I never knew about this game. Obviously taking the FG off was dumb, but why would you EVER, EVER run a sweep on your own 2 with under a minute to go? Risking way too much!

Maybe Aggie fans will feel better to know that was Ron Rivera who made the great defensive play for Cal. The same Ron Rivera who played for the great defenses of the Chicago Bears and more recently has been a standout defensive coordinator. In 1983 he set and still holds the Cal record for tackles for a loss. Also, that was the game following the Cal-Stanford game with "The Play" so clearly Cal had some crazy stuff working for those two games.
