Check Google--it looks like she's already been on the West End, before this, as I recall. There are parts for kids-- "Annie," "Peter Pan," etc. Kids are limited as to the hours they can rehearse or perform, so there's often more than one playing a particular part.

There's nothing in BGT that says that the contestants can't be pros--several have been. That's not the intention, but they don't rule it out.

Still, her Mary Poppins was, as the judges like to say, brilliant and better than this.

There is a big difference between standing in front of a microphone and "singing" and performing a song while acting. Most human beings can't open their mouth or stand up before a large audience. This wonderful girl hit all the marks perfectly! That takes talent, confidence and lots of practice. The reason she didn't win is that the other contests had more appealing acts (stage acting isn't on my favorite list nor is opera either) but that doesn't me she didn't WIN! See her on the west end soon!

Agreed, but not just acting, but dancing. It can't be easy to sing and dance at the same time. Listen to how out of breath she is at the end, even as superbly fit she must be.

How much of that is due to physical activity and how much has to do with psychology is something only she knows.

If you have ever done any kind of public performance or speech you should understand what stage fright is. I give speeches and if something doesn't go exactly right (joke that falls flat, hecklers, etc) it is easy to choke up and stop breathing. It takes practice and super human confidence to get the pulse back down and regain momentum and timing.

If you haven't, you might check into the Alexander Technique. It was developed by a public speaker (back in the days when they were a major form of entertainment) who had difficulty breathing.
