  • pictures of you, the cure.

  • What's the song at 2:11? :D

  • would this pedal be good not for reggae/dub playing?

  • Can you please tell me if this version sounds just like the big box version ?

  • @valentin80 No they don't. The big box versions differ from each other as well, older models sound a bit darker but have longer delay time. You will get the typical DMM sound from the xo though.

  • i was actually looking for some pedals to make graham coxon/blur-esque sounds and you started playing 'chemical world', that's me sorted, well done

  • I don't know what you played at 1:23, but I need to figure it out.

  • @xXlopoXx Look at the song standard lines by dashboard confessional. Diffferent octave notes, but the same type of thing going on during the verse

  • (y) heart warming tone that fills up the soul... just the way i like it!

  • unfortunately Robert Smith uses Boss pedals :( -(referring to Pictures of you , you could hear it here )

  • How does a DD3 compare to this?

  • I think the deluxe memory boy is better. It has tap tempo and true bypass. Am I wrong? Does anyone know which pedal is better?

  • @caincolesr 1. this has much better sound

    2. this also has true bypass

    3. even if it didnt have one buffer in your chain improves your sound

  • pictures of you.,., nice

  • does this pedal find out what tempo u play itself???

  • @dintubeDK no.

  • Which cables does Andy use for his videos?

  • MOTHER SHOULD I BUY THE PEDAL ? :p

  • ANALOG > digital

  • Sleep comes like a drug in gods country. I love the Joshua tree!

  • In Gods Country?

  • @MrAustinBond yes indeed.

  • Blur - Chemical World..Great Stuff

  • sorry i´m a noob...what is this for?

  • @Bosbachos Basically this pedal will repeat notes that you play, so its similar to having two guitarists, it plays the same notes you do, just slightly after (depending on the length of the delay you set). It also has a chorus which is just kind of a trippy warbley sound. It isn't something that a guitarist MUST HAVE, but its a cool toy to create some cool sounds.

  • @Bosbachos its a delay. Cant you realise the repeats??

  • I used to have an 80's Deluxe Memory Man but sold it through needing money, I so regret it and after listening to this and tapes of me using it with my old band Im going to have to try to get another!

  • 0:07 Andy took me into God's country :)

  • Wow that is a really, really impressive sounding pedal there! In love with it at soon as I heard it. Though at that price tag, I suppose it had BETTER be good...

  • Comment removed

  • mother...!

  • Can't do this pedal for 1 reason ... Hate the graphics.

  • @joelg125 Paint it?

  • Pink Floyd Run Like Hell would work.

  • Does this have a loop like the stereo?

  • In Gods Country - U2

  • try them both side by side before buying

  • level knob, more responsive controls, more power. Tap tempo on the way for another $60

  • why would i buy this over a memory boy? :)

  • @PabloJones01 Buy the memory boy, i have it, and it does everything you could possibly want it to.

  • @PabloJones01 its analog, not digital... still yeah, I would go for the memory boy, but I already have an eventide timefactor that kills the EHX by far

  • @rodrigozamo have you tried the Empress Super Delay?.........I think the Empress owns all delays.

  • Pink Floyd Mother solo.... Just a hint too much delay there Andy, hahahaha

  • Would be nice with a tap tempo feature

  • chemical world by blur

    :-)

  • Of course, he set the modulation too deep.

  • Omar Rodriguez uses it =) so can i create a sound like a "distortion"? o are u using some other pedal?¿

  • Do they use a reverb? or does the effect create a kind of reverb sound by itself?

  • @reinier1992 No, Andy always only uses the effect he's demoing I'm pretty sure.

  • Do they use reverb after showing his clean tone? or does the effect create a kind of reverb by itselfs?

  • @reinier1992 i believe the effect is produced by the depth knob in the pedal when you are in chorus mode

  • Can you get the same sound at 2:12 out of a memory boy??

  • can this thing do u2 stuff?

i mean maybe the timing will be little off beacuse i doeasn't have a tap tempo

    but ..??

  • first he plays in god's country by u2

  • AGUANTE BLURRRRRRRR

  • Could u please demo the Deluxe Memory Boy.

  • How does this compare with the stereo memory man with hazarai

  • @bioken007 it has stero too. see the direct out and the effect out. those tweo have to be connected, than you have stero sound

  • Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb?

  • Play some U2 on that!

  • its this or the deep blue ... carnt make up my mind.. anyone wanna help?

  • does this work with a 9v DC adapter ?

  • @guitarsalert It clearly states 24V on top for a reason.

  • Ooooo any demo with some Blur's got my vote.

  • been watching alot of your videos for a while now , just wanted to say thay they are all exellent . thanks andy.

  • @3:20 Pink Floyd - Mother (solo) :)

  • "Desert Roooooose...." Nice. Not enough folks play Edge in demos.

  • In God's country an Mothers of disappeared no?

  • I want the old one..

  • Pink Floyd, this rocks

  • I Hate This!!

Nothing Is Like The Original Deluxe Memori Man!

    IS THIS PEDAL DISCONTINUED???

    SomeOne Answer! Please Please!

  • @jaimico777 yes, the big box DMM is discontinued.

  • I'm just curious...do the pots turn the same amount / same range as the older boxy Deluxe Memory Man pedals? Not a huge deal, one way or the other. Just curious.

  • 'In God's Country' at the start :D what a tune like!

  • I like the original this one has a crappy casing.

  • In God's country eh? I lol'ed.

  • That one sounded like Peter Frampton.

  • When he played with the oscillation and turned the delay time up at the end, I could only think about Cleveland on Family Guy hahaha "no no no no no!!!" haha

  • I dont understand why get these one, if the deluxe memory boy has tap, e. pedal, effect loop, please tell me

  • wish this had a tap tempo.

  • I've had this pedal for a while and no matter what other delays I put on my board, I always tend to go back to the Memory Man for the sharp, crisp delay sound!!!

  • It's a shame EHX used to really make a quality product. Now they are cost cutting like crazy.

  • U2 U2 U2 !!!!

  • woooooooOOOOOOOUUU...U2 SOUNDS the EDGE!!!! in the dvd "it might Loud" , the edge demonstres Memory man!!! is a fantastic!!!!

  • im having troubles tryin to buy a echo/delay and i liked to get a EHX, but i cant choose between the Stereo memory man or the deluxe memory man? help please, thanx

  • @felix51993 i think you'll be happy with the Delux MM because, while it's very versitile, it's not overly complicated. Not to mention the quality/sound is second to none.

  • is this better than the way huge aqua-puss? give me your opinion.

  • whats the name of the song the guitarrist plays on 2:50?

  • @gustavobabreu the song play at 2:50 is a bit of

"Chemical World" by BLUR on their 2nd album "Modern Life Is Rubbish" ( the part begin on 2.06 on the video post by emimusic, on youtube if you wanna check)

  • true too much on that floyd solo, but the pedal seems nice, Im still after the original,

  • From what I read and can tell, this has the same guts as that old dinosaur DMM, plus this has more knobs for more tweaking and is in a smaller enclosure :)

  • old ones better

  • PINK FLOYD!!! 3:20! mabye a bit too much delay on that solo? haha... i want this pedal

  • the edge used this A LOT on all there albums up to the Unforgettable Fire. then he started using the sdd-3000 delay unit.

  • What a pedal!!! And cheap!!

  • great effect, I really like EHX Holy Grail

  • Yeah, 3:20 is the solo from Pink Floyd's "Mother."

  • Don't know the Dream Theater song, but that sounded a lot like part of the the solo from Pink Floyd's Mother at 3:20...

What are the songs at about 2:14 and 2:45?

  • @MortyMoose the song at 2:45 is 'Chemical World' by Blur (from 1993 Album 'Modern Life is Rubbish')

2:14 might be Smashing Pumpkins, but I'm not sure which song it could be... I'd really like to know!

  • Hey, I think its Pictures Of You by The Cure @ 2:14 , but I'd have to check.

  • Yep it's ts Pictures Of You by The Cure @ 2:14 , it's about 4:54 on the actual song:)

  • 3:20 Dream Theater : Surrender ;)

  • no... thats pink floyd for sure dude lol

  • 3:20 Pink Floyd : Mother ;)

  • @sbrillo3000 so the theaters ripped off mother so well that it confuses you fans ? ehehe

  • @sbrillo3000 I'm sorry the song is not Surrender but "Surrounded"...

  • I like the old, big cases better. The XO series looks like Electro Harmonix is cost-cutting.

  • This is directly from the Electro Harmonix site.....1. Starting today (April 20) we will begin taking orders from stores for the new Deluxe Memory Man. It's the exact same warm analog circuit, with premium vintage 'bucket brigade' chips, all housed in our more pedalboard-friendly enclosure. They're ready to go, so ask your favorite EHX dealer.

  • I like it. U2 sound and the Cure. :-)

  • (For about £100 more [I think] is this really better than the one with hazarai?

  • analog vs digital.... analog always wins

  • @ciaranm93 Might be for you, but no presets and different modes, and no looper.

  • i've been reading up on this and the older DMM, looking to possibly buy one...people trash this one in comparison to the old one, and are saying the internal components are not 100% the same (something about Panasonic chips being in the old ones, not around anymore) ..can Andy or anyone at PGS confirm any of these claims? or offer any feedback to the whole DMM vs DMM XO

  • If you find out please let me know. I am currently auditioning one and think it sounds fantastic. I like it much more than the digital-trying-to-be analogue t rex replica I am also auditioning. This DMM is pretty good to direct tone unless you really crank up the echo level. The only issue is the taper of the knobs could be better. But delay tones are very, very nice- not to dark not too bright. Short slap backs are perfect too!

  • does anyone know what the song is at 02:45?

  • What's better...this or the one with the hazari delay? and why?

  • This one is better sounding, warmer. It is the definitive delay, I've had most and I LOVE this one.

  • @radiohead00000 neither, the empress superdelay

  • Hey people!)how do you think, what's better:this pedal or TC Nova Delay?

  • u2 in gods country good sound

  • Does anybody know the song at 02:15??? It sounds very nice with the modulation!!! Cheers, Matt.

  • just like heaven by the cure

  • its pictures of you, not just like heaven

  • LOL . . . its The Adventure by Angels & Airwaves : )

  • Very very good "In God's Country" sound. In fact, 2nd best on UTube!!! Matt.

  • Theremin was the best but all together was awesome!

  • It's this or an older 4 button version, which should I get? Help anyone!

  • Older version all the way

  • 1:40 song? anyone?

  • Yeah, really, does anybody know what song that was? It sounds good as hell...

  • PINK FLOYD!

  • Love the sound on this. I have a concern though, about how to power the thing.

I run my pedals off a 1-spot, they all use 9v power, this, however is 24. Does this come with it's own power supply, or would I be better off checking out the Memory Boy? That seems to do a lot of what this does...

  • It has a 24v wall wart that comes with it. I can't wait to get this pedal. It's freaking insane!

  • U2!

  • Nice 'Pictures of You' by the Cure at 2.15

  • Cure use boss XP but I like EH better!

  • In God's Country

  • Hi guys! some people here on Youtube says this new XO Memory man have a chinese chip wich are of poor quality and sound, is this true? I like to buy a DMM but Im not sure anymore, do the bigger version have a better quality chip? or is that only in the even older 70's version? thanks for any input on this. I'd like to know

  • hey satjathamma,

try to get the real deal if you can! i have the original one and tried the new one a few weeks ago. the new has less character and sounds less analog to my ears (compared to my old DMM)

  • as far as i know its exactly the same chip and built to the same specifications, just in a smaller box, ive been asking the same question on the ehx forums and to howard davies (- he does awesome mods to these pedals -) and ive just ordered the xo without any mods, so cant wait to get it

  • Well do you think it sounds poor?

  • Hi guys:) some people here on Youtube says this new XO Memory man have a chinese chip wich are of poor quality and sound, is this true? I like to buy a DMM but Im not sure anymore, do the bigger version have a better quality chip? or is that only in the even older 70's version? thanks for any input on this. I'd like to know

  • what is he playing from 1:26 to 1:50 ?

  • does it have tap tempo?? subdivision?

  • does it have tap tempo? subdivision??

  • the old one owns

  • so does this have a control for how much chorus or vibrato you need like the old memory man deluxe ?

    thanks

  • I believe that is what the depth knob to the right of the chorus/vib knob is

  • Its the Chrs/VIBR knob.

  • Yes. The depth control dials in how much chorus or vibrato you want.

  • Sleep comes like a drug, in god's country....

  • the song at 2:12 is "Pictures of You" by The Cure- if someone hasn't already said so.

  • weird considering the Cure was using digital delays ever since 1983

  • Thanks, might actually get off my arse and finally get a CD by them lol

  • So, is a modulated delay, just delay with chorus in it? Cheers, Matt.

  • Modulation is any kind of chorus, vibrato, flanger, phaser, auto wah, or anything like that. This pedal has a chorus or vibrato you can add if you want to.

  • Anyone know what hes playing at 1.25??

  • the cure

  • is there any difference in tone with this and the old one ??

  • Nope, its made in the US but its not hand wired like the old one but machine done saving time and space on the circuit board

  • can this replace the digital delay pedal?

  • Well only if you just need 550ms of delay. These things predate digital by a way

  • It depends. If you use your digital delay for perfect, identical repeats that fade over time, then this probably won't do it. Most people who use an anlog delay do so because the echoes don't come back perfectly, they distort and darken with each repeat. To them, analog delays sound more natural and organic. In contrast, digital delays can be so perfect that they can sound cold and sterile. But, it's all about what you like to hear and the sound you are going for.

  • Digital delays have a lot of unique features that you cant get on an analog delay, such as reverse delay and all those odd presets.

Digital delays cleanly repeat whatever you were playing. Analog delays put more emphasis on the note you are playing and the repeats are warmer (muddier in a good way).

  • I'm buying this with my next paycheck. Thanks for the review PGS!

  • chemical world!!!

  • Why "now the memory man is true bypass" the old one wasnt?

  • True bypass is a buzz word most people dont even know what it does.

  • how switch between chorus/vibrato in this unit? Witch one is better, this or the olds (big one)?

  • The rotary switch selects chorus or vibrato. Nobody has any reason to tell you which is better because they are phasing out the old pedal and everyone wants to sell the new unit.

Ill tell you that this mem man is pretty much the same as a 2008 big one.

  • I want!!! But a new amp head is next on the G.A.S. list.

  • where is the switch for chorus/vibrato?

  • what r u playin at 2:12?

  • Yeah I also wanna know, it's pretty

  • It sounds like 'Pictures of You' by The Cure. Disintegration is the best album ever! XD
