If they took the time to do it right; time to choose the right songs (not just great songs, but songs which fit Mick & Keith's voices), get the production just right, get the best performances, etc,, they could do a great Country album. They've got money & time, so they could do it (even though they're a little burnt by now).

but if the casual fans didn't like it; it still wouldn't take them down, 'cause the Stones are just too big, too legendary; and besides, they'd just come back with a strong Rock record.

They'd have more respect from those who really love music, for going outside, and a lot of appreciation from 'real' Country music fans.

(The Stones shouldn't do Country material tongue-in-cheek, though.)
