I found the Nova mousepads to be great. Even their lowest gaming model is kick-ass: Raider. I like the clothy feel of the hard-rubber(might be a weird composite) surface, because it's uneven.
Erm... how about mentioning a company that specializes in mouse pads? XTracPads. Both Razer and SteelSeries are newer companies that are known to take the hose to unsuspecting noobs. I have a SteelSeries Merc Stealth keyboard that is complete junk, check my review. As well, I have a Razer Megasoma mouse pad that is also junk, it came in a nice package but to my dismay once unboxing, I noticed glow in the dark spray was roughly applied to the top, affecting tracking, junk. Logitech+XTracPads ftw.
@MultiSheepsheep It's not Razer's fault that you play with noobs. Quality mice and pad only gives you a little better, easy, precise aiming in FPS's. I have got an Abyssus and a SS QcK, and I can say that those quality stuff, like from razer, steelseries, or logitech is really helping me out with aiming in CS:S. But ofc, skill is the most important thing.
I got a huge mousepad in Thailand with a massive picture of wc3ft King Arthas on it, rubber bottom cloth top for 32 baht (1 AUD). Lasted 2 years so far. best thing ive ever bought (from thailand) :D
I play mostly FPS games, I use a Razer deathadder, but... I made my own mouse pad out of wax paper, works amazing! Best of all it cost me nothing lol. Just tape it tightly to the table (get the air out) and you'll be surprised on how well it works.
Gaming mouse pads are overrated all of them. Just buy a black plastic rough surface folder. Cut it by the middle fold. Clamp the right side so it's not on your way. If it's too rough for you. Rub some oil on the plastic and/or mouse feet. I tried the razer mouse and their $40 mouse pad in store and my homemade mouse pad performs the same.
if you like small mice which means you are fps player and probably good one then you must have roccat pyra. I tried over 30 gaming mice from 2007-2010 but since 2010 i live in harmony with my pyra which is just 30$. accuracy and control on that mice is fucking awesome. your counter strike aiming will go 50% up with it. i wasted 3 years with big name brands and wasted lots of cash.
bullshit i bought a mouse pad from a yardsale that has a picture of a beach printed on it it doesnt move and has a rubber bottom and cloth top i also bought this 6 years ago aswell.
I've been using a Qpad for years, with a Logitech MX518 on mouse skates.
The pad provided me with loads of kills, minimum deaths through the years.
So Qpad all the way. It's pretty worn down so a new one is in order. My advice on buying a good mousepad? Go to a computer store and ask if you can FEEL the pads. Take your mouse along to feel it and you'll know. Skates increase the lifespan of your mouse and make it run smooth, unless you're willing to buy a new mouse frequently
cloth mouse pads are for people who normally use relatively low sensitivity, so its not for everyone. most people are middle sensitivity, so go with plastic and it will be easier for you.
I prefer hard plastic mouse pad like Steelseries SP. The sound you mention disappears when you equip your mouse with Teflon feet. Unfortunately SteelSeries is expensive and wear out like any other hard material (still slower then soft mouse pad). Interestingly Teflon feet give good sliding effect with regular hard mouse pads, not only Steelseries. These feet also wear out after some time. BTW I like Microsoft Sidewider X8 - it fits my hand perfectly.
Strange, but I firstly noticed that sound You are describing after seen this video and You ruined my mouse pad (used Razer eXactMat X control), because I started to hate this sound :D I had to replace it doue to this sound!
Awesome combo, until the Deathadders buttons start failing, like mine has. Now all the new ones have shitty sensors so I've been forced to buy an MX518, which makes me sad as the old Deathadder was a godly mouse.
@trttab123 Does the Goliathus feel like regular office mouse pads or what i like a mooth mouse pad and i dont kow ikf i should ge tthe control or speed
@trttab123 i own first generation deathadder..........greatest reliable mouse i ever used for shooters you think, yur brain moves yur hand, BAM dea don everytime EVERYTIME as for the pad i need to buy goliathus cuz i was cheapass an bought the razer kabuto.......sigh.......enough said
I say don't buy an expensive one because it can happen to you the same it did to me, the mouse broke after 1'5 years. I'll buy a new one, A4tech, for 8€ and as long as it lasts 1 year it will be worth it. It was a razer btw.
@jessec1988 thats unfortunate because i have a razer death adder and it is the best thing i've ever held in my hands. even better than my gf's tits..... <3 razer
@aznzero327 I've never liked the QCK+, they wear out so fast and when it wears out a little you really notice it. Also the friction changes a bit when it's humid out and that is very annoying
@zulrivers I have to disagree; the steelseries i-2 is the best I've ever used, and I know it won't wear out. G700 works perfectly on it, and I have to say as the first Steelseries product I've ever owned (along with my 7G being purchased a couple of weeks later), I'm very impressed with them.
@fpsBeaTt Dood thats exactly the same setup I have here. VERY FEW MICE WORK ON A I-2 but a G700 works flawlessly. The only other one that has worked without issue is the Lachesis but I can't stand how they feel and how two buttons are completely useless on one side (depending on left or right useage). All pad wear out except these glassplates, even the so called metal ones which actually just have a hard coating of plastic on them, once they wear you can sure feel the difference. Get an I-1/I-2!
@fpsBeaTt Also what works best is getting some fUNC LIQUID and apply it to the feet of your mouse. Let this dry for a day if you can, if not just till it looks dry. You can apply it to the plate as well but I prefer not to, if you use a plastic pad then for sure apply to both mouse feet and mouse pad. It will be even slippery than aunt Sushie's coochie. Use LIQUID once a week, the bottle will last for years.
So the surface type is entirely preference? Man I'm glad I don't have a preference for glass or metal pads because those things are expensive. Not much of a fan of hard pads. Besides the sandpaper sound it's irritating to the skin to rest my wrist on.
@zulrivers you, good sir, know what you're talkin about. I myself use the destructor several years ago, and the only other pad I'd recommend is the vespula which has a wrist rest. The destructor has lasted for hundreds of hours and have seen the mx revolution, lachesis, and storm sentinel advance.
i kinda dont see the point in huge mousepads. i have a razer sphex and barely even use a quarter of it. with the DPI of mice these days you dont really need a massive mouse pad. that said virtually all gaming mats are massive anyway so you're stuck with something that will hog desk space (unless you have a sphex, as it's paper thin and doesnt get in the way)
i use a 20 years old mouse pad works great the mouse however is a razor diamond classic v1. The mouse pad is a hardplastic mouse pad with a nice wallpaper behind it. The bottum is slip free, some water drops on the back and it will stick forever. The don`t make that kind off mouse pads anymore. So iam lucky to have one. Or still have lol.
You do not know the new generation mouse pad. A lot of mouse pad is the one like the clock that stops. Or, the product only of the gimmick. The mouse pad of a genuine orthodox school is here. SAMURAI gaming mouse pad.
hey ! i got the logitech mx518 gaming mouse, and i am wondering about a mouse pad.. which mouse pad is good for the logitech mx518 ? im also wondering on buying the alienware tact mouse.. what is a good mouse pad for the alienware tactx mouse, and the logitech mx518 ? and is it a good move ? from logitech mx518 to alienware tactx gaming mouse ?
Been using the same very basic cloth and rubber mouse pad for the last 10 years and it work quite fine for gaming. It is so old a part of the surface is some kind of dead skin wax, which make for a nice smooth surface for wrist to move along with low friction.
Only reason I would change mouse pad would be to get a metal reinforced rubber and cloth pad to be able to use mouse on uneven surface (mostly so I could use my cordless mouse on the couch =p)
poor logic given on why you should get a gaming mousepad. Typical generic mousepads can be bought for $2, while gaming mousepads easily go $40 or more. I highly doubt the $40 pad can last the lifetime of 20 generic pads (20x$2=$40). You mention other factors of gaming pads, but not as a reason to get it over a generic mousepad. Also, a lot of it is just marketing gimmicks.
I got a hard plastic one (It says patented tracking surface) that i got from my dad and he works at an Engineering company that designs and creates stuff for Oil Wells in the north sea. It has a large oilwell on it and it looks pretty awesome :) Works good too.
Qpad sponsors my clan and their softpads are amazing, huge thumbs up, also using the slicks they gave us it made the mouse slide perfectly on those pads, huge thumbs up!
i use a razer goliathus-control fragged edition. -large= which i think is the alpha version. i absolutely love it. its huge! and the material is unique in that it has a less fine thread hence the (control) edition. they also have a speed which has a tighter weave. both are great. just depends on which material you like better
i bought a steelseries qck für 10 euros a few days ago. its cheap, its fantastic. no need to spend 20+ for something like that. even the bigger qck+ goes for only 15 euros here.
My desk ironically is a better surface than the 30dollar pad I bought (puretrak talent) Perfect tracking, just the right friction for high sensitivity, and scratch resistant.
For anyone curious, it's the Bestar Prestige+ credenza. I like it so much, the next desk I get; I'm going to saw off a square piece of this desk to use it as my my surface.
@Shadar22 i dont get it, cuz if u have a mouse thats hight tracking, why not just lower the mouse pointer settings, or game settings to fit ur needs on any mouse pad and mouse dpi
@Shadar22 same here, I always gamed on my desk because its an awesome surface, but now its been worn and it doesnt glide anymore and I have to buy a mousepad, bought a steelseries QCK cloth mousepad but its doesnt glide good :(
@izzo4l razer mousepads after a while of "hardcore" use tend to smoothe out in the center and wear off over time...
I didn't have those problems with my taito
I just washed it and it's like a new mousepad fresh from the package
...the mouses I agree are similar in performance and I chose the Deathadder over my Kone but as far as the headset is I think that the Razer Megalodon, Carcharias or Piranha don't give Roccat's Kave any competition ;P
Just to add to MR. 3D here that the better mouse pads also offer a life extension to your mouse life it self. I took notice at the bottom of my mouse after a few days where I would regularly clean it and it didn't have black stuff stuck to it or what not. (So where is all that dirt going? It is going on you pad, so I do reckon you wash it once a while). Another plus was that the mouse just glides.
must... have.... HUGE... mouse... pad.... I love my xtracpads ripper xxl gaming mat! I got mine from xtracpads DAWT com and it pwns ! 3 feet wide ftw!!!
@01ehaja hehe u missed for 1 week i bought razer goliathus control edition

thats why hard mats should only be used with high dpi, little movement = little sound

were you looking at god when you said razer has alot of good stuff because it seemed like you would salute by that look at the ceiling...

i use a razer goliathus-control fragged edition.

QcK SteelSeries is awesome. They make some THICK ASS pads that last a long time.

@Shadar22
I agree :)
since years, my mouse is always at the same place and made my table the perfect mouse-pad!
powerpoint1357924680 1 year ago
@Shadar22 i dont get it, cuz if u have a mouse thats hight tracking, why not just lower the mouse pointer settings, or game settings to fit ur needs on any mouse pad and mouse dpi
iluvfatchx 1 year ago
If we could only buy your desk from razor sigh...
s1vus1 1 year ago
@Shadar22 same here, I always gamed on my desk because its an awesome surface, but now its been worn and it doesnt glide anymore and I have to buy a mousepad, bought a steelseries QCK cloth mousepad but its doesnt glide good :(

As a serious gamer I would always prefer Roccat over anything else...
I do have some of the Razer products but I must say that Roccat is the best...
at least to me :)
demozjeh 1 year ago
@demozjeh id like to read the reason of that please ^^
izzo4lp 1 year ago
@izzo4l razer mousepads after a while of "hardcore" use tend to smoothe out in the center and wear off over time...
I didn't have those problems with my taito
I just washed it and it's like a new mousepad fresh from the package
...the mouses I agree are similar in performance and I chose the Deathadder over my Kone but as far as the headset is I think that the Razer Megalodon, Carcharias or Piranha don't give Roccat's Kave any competition ;P
demozjeh 1 year ago
Just to add to MR. 3D here that the better mouse pads also offer a life extension to your mouse life it self. I took notice at the bottom of my mouse after a few days where I would regularly clean it and it didn't have black stuff stuck to it or what not. (So where is all that dirt going? It is going on you pad, so I do reckon you wash it once a while). Another plus was that the mouse just glides.

@01ehaja Mines the normal 12in x 10in. Its big enough and plus i go 2000dpi anyway so it doesnt matter much. Its more the smooth glide that i like
