you can't go wrong with the triumph at all... more comprehensive maintenance plan and significantly better sound IMHO.... bigger gas tank and out right sexy looks makes it a winner in my book.
@eyfhsdksd minus their electrical problems that two of my friends had with BOTH monsters they owned... not saying it's a normal occurrence by any means but if a Ducati goes wrong it goes way wrong... like a Ferrari :P maintenance is higher cost too...
street triple R is not "street triple"..... DUCATI IS LIKE THE FERRARI THE TRIUMPH IS LIKE JAGUAR..... WHICH ONE U CHOOSE. BREMBO against nissin quality against english rubbish
@lollino05 xD You don't seem to have an idea of motorcycles. Ducatis are at service most of the time cause italians are quite bad mechanics... everything looks nice and expensive parts are used but the whole package does'nt work together that good!
both great bikes from great manufacturers, the Ducati has better quality suspension and breaking standard but aftermarket products can fix that, while the street triple is more sporty but has a little bit of a "funkier" look what with the duel headlights. decide which you like bettter and have fun riding. i'm gonna try to pick up a 696s this summer i like it's style a little better and don't mind the slight decrease in speed for the better standard quality.
Monster 696 has nothing to do with street triple. You should go to 796 to get the competition a little balanced. Ducati has more torque and much low revolutions power, but nothing to do qith the incredibly elastic street triple R, wich in 1st gear reach 110 km/h!!!!!
i think this is not a good comparison because the monster is not a bike made for the performance! the duc is made for the kick of riding and the triumph for the power!
@IphoneIhave1 actually, you look a little GAY. Both of these are excellent bikes and much better than the competition. So, go drop the soap a bit more sailor.
I'm 1.6m tall...really like The Tripple R, but went for Ducati 696 because of lower seat and also the financial deal that offers in bangkok. so DUCATI!!!!! ha ha
I'm going to buy one but not sure. What's swinging me to the duc is abs which the 2010 version has. I'm rather surprised the Triumph does not, otherwise I'd buy it like a shot.
I've tested both, and the Triumph absolutely destroys the Ducati. Makes it seem outdated and unrefined, with an awful riding position.
The Street Triple engine pulls hard all the way from idle to the red line, the handling is much lighter and more nimble, plus the Triumph roars like an old Porsche 911 when you really let rip! :)
LOL... Don't make me laugh Joker... I'd change it asp just for you but I'm not into Ramstein nor Village People!... I know you love "YMCA" or "it's raining men" but it doesn't match the motorcycles colour... Maybe next time if I post a pink One just for you! LOL
Making people laugh IS the Joker's business... even if it's from an N2O overdose... lol... As for the colour and music, just use the ones we so vividly remember from our Prom Night date... Then I'll know you still care... >D
@maffsf What is the music, by the way? Loveit. I think it suits the clip. And I also just bought the Triple. Makes your face hurt - the muscles are killin' from all that grinnin you have to do :))))
i own the 696 and i wish i had gotten the triumph instead... the ducati has a look that is better but performance wise the triumph is better. as is the support you get from triupmh is great....ducati service is horrible
i'm italian and i really love Ducati, but those 3 cylinders... if u r looking 4 style get the Italian one, if u r looking f adenalyne get the english (it has the same engine of the Daytona, only few hps less)
i ve tryied both bikes and i ride the triumph now.You want a monster dont bike the ducati...
those 2 bikes a good the 696 is a bit easier 675 is more for sport tiding you need a bit more skills for the triumph if your not a bad rider the triumph is THE roadster every bikes mags say that
Think about service intervals also. Not sure if the pint sized duc still needs the costly valve check and cam belt replacement every 7500 miles or not but I think the triple is simpler cheaper with longer intervals. Just a thought.
The Ducati's service intervals are actualy longer than the Triumph's (12000Km vs 10.000Km). Ducati will need cam belts every 20000Km (which aren't nearly as expensive as they used to be) so on the long run I'd say both have the same maintenance costs. Valves are the same as any other engine: adjust when needed (and shouldn't need to soon).
I've both bikes in the stable. I own a matt orange street triple R and my girlfriend owns a monster 696. Both are ace bikes with very little between them. I choose the triple R as i prefer the looks. The 696 sounds amazing, but is a little ruffer ride in my opinion. Also the 696 seat slopes forward a bit too much for my liking, squashing the berries against the tank! The 696 is lighter and the seat is alot lower, so if it's your first bike and you are comfortable on it, i would go for the 696.
both bikes got strong character , i own a striple 9months now , but i rode test and a duc696 , its cool too , sweet engine , easy to ride ,and ofc the duCulture ! :) its just a matter of choise
Thanks I already did... I love them both!!! That is my problem 'cause the Triumph has more power but the Ducati has better equipement (brakes, etc...)... I'm going to use it more in city roads!!!
Ducati.... is a Ferrari on two wheels.

Listen to yourselves, children.
It's simple: Just go for a ride on each and you will know. It will choose you, like that winged dragon creature in Avatar.
Or save your time AND MONEY and just get the standard Street Triple. It'll be years before you're as good as the stock 675 bike is. Even on the track.
It's hard to ignore the Street Triple once you've ACTUALLY RIDDEN ONE (massive hint there BTW...).
And forget sound: the St3 can bark, sing, whistle & howl.
Just ride them, mate, FoFuSa!

Ducati 696 is imho higher quality, lighter thanks to air cooling and bi-cilinder and overall higher reliability due to italian racing experience..
The triumph has funky dual headlights and higher horse power although one should check those compared to the overall weight of the two bikes.
