I beat him on my second try, the first try i had my pokemon (Underleveled) then when i was gonna fail, my weakest pokemon (Rioulu) couldnt beat it of course he was only lvl 33. And lvl 33 isnt anything against lvl 48 weavile. So then i trained Rioulu maxed his friendship evolved into Lucario and then i (Overleveled) him to lvl 50. and the other were around 45, 40, 47, etc. and i caught palkia cause i had pearl version.

I actually beat this guy on my first try. XD Then again, by the time you get to Mt. Coronet, your starter is probably already at its final stage and way overpowered, and your rival healing your Pokemon right before this fight helps. XD
