  • Holy smokes!! I now know where Dwight Yokham got his slick moves...

  • I am 26 and I LOVE Hank Williams SR and JR!!! I am very grateful for technology, as it allows us to enjoy Hank Jr singing with his father, HANK WILLIAMS SR!!! I was born in 1986, and I notice that those of us born in the 80's seem to be among the last generation to appreciate musicians with SKILL!

  • makes me want to leave my girl just so i can go drink at the bar and play this on the jukebox!

  • i just realized hank sr kind of sounds like a ghost

  • man this was just plain awesome!, and i loved it the way it was done!

  • this one made the hair stand up as i was brought up on this music

  • CRIMES: Count 1 - Invasion of Privacy. Count 2 - Continuing Crucifixion of Angelina DiMauro since February 16, 1994. Today is Sunday, January 22, 2012 (C.E.), 8:21 PM (Earth-Eastern Standard Time)

  • That was sooooo cool!!!

  • Hey CMT why dont you go back to your format you started with instead of airing stupid reality crap show, you did the same thing MTV did. Or I should say Viacom ruined 2 very good music video networks. To you 25 that dislike this video piss off!!!!!!! Dont click on the video if your going to dislike it.

  • i love justin bieber<3

  • @sexintheair357 just bieber is a fag and he dont need to be mentioned in the real music unlike that crap he sings and all those people

  • @rebelalltheway2111 bitch PLEASE. just because you have no life doesn't mean you need to take it out on Justin Bieber. Now, if you want to call someone a fag when they acually are a fag, go look in the mirror.

  • Look brother Im 25-not all of us are into that Garbage. For me its strictly Hanks 1 AND 2, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Louvin Brothers, Waylon, so on. And I live in Boston. I get dirty looks when I control the juke box, but not one messes with a man playing the fighting side of me hahah.

  • @cjwalsh91

Sure am glad to read your comment. I hope you realize that you are absoluteley in th MUSICAL TASTE MINORITY! ! !

  • Cool! The magic of cinema.

  • makes me kinda sad knowing hank junior grew up with out a dad

  • @supaluigi96 couldn't agree with you any more, but i think he's the success he is now because he wanted to keep the legacy going, I personally don't care what anyone says there 2 of the greatest musicians ever. May Hank Williams Sr R.I.P

  • @supaluigi96 I now what you mean. I cryed.

  • Fellow southerners, let's bring it home for Ron Paul!

  • It's the best version since the original :)

  • It is possible to be from the older generation and still appreciate both the music from then and from today (both country and urban). Jr is different than Sr and III is different than Jr (sounds like sr sometimes though). Change happens whether you want it to or not. Might as well learn to enjoy both the before and the after instead of complaining that they are different. Why do I have to remind people 50+ to grow up?

  • ADD III

  • if only hank sr and jr could have actually sung togetherit would have been amazing

  • thery ya go the best singer songwriter ever and not jr sr love you hank sr never be no one like you

  • this song remins me of my grandpa, i love u jampy i will see u in the heavley gate of heaven with welcome arms, i miss u so much

  • hank williams sr. is THE greatest country singer i know of, patsy cline, willie nelson, johnney cash, are other great country singers. not this country/pop crap, todays country music sucks

  • 1,836 people like this video, 24 people dislike this video. The rest of the 418,918 viewers didnt give a rats ass about what others thought and stcuk with their first goal of listening to 2 legends.

  • this is a classic with two great singers i love this

  • hooray for beer loving hicks

  • 24 PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS!!!

  • There's a tear in my beer cause i'm pissed at this young generation and the shit they call music.

  • @Meljays1055 I bet your parents felt the same way. There is good music out there. The record labels decide what you get to hear and they're not run by the younger generation.

  • @irockwithdirt Music today is decided by how many copies they send to music shops. If the shops then put a particular genre in a position where it will sell well then that artist wins and the others who haven't got the money to PAY for exposure miss out. As you say the labels decide which music to promote. I have been in radio for 20 years. Gary

  • @Meljays1055 im a part of that generation, and people within it call the music shit, i understand what your saying, a few of us do want a change.

  • @Meljays1055 im 15 and love this music 2 of the best artist and singers i ever heard

  • @Meljays1055 I agree, and Im 18. This is true country music right here.

  • @loonlaker67 i agree and im 15. country music today is total bullshit

  • @Meljays1055 jr blows

  • @Meljays1055 I'll go one step further and say that things went downhill after HWsr and that includes jr.

  • @Meljays1055 I know it, todays crap sounds like an auctioneer who doesn't know what the hell he's doing

  • @Meljays1055 music does suck now, that is why new bands make it off covers, look at good bands such as silvertide or the darkness, not that big because the play rock and as for country, it has been gone since the late eighties as far as the new artists.

  • @johnwaynejohnson I study music, what I see with country is that it's stuck in a rut due to compositional aspects. Now I enjoy Cash and Doc Watson, even been listening to some Bob Wills despite simplicity and Blues is similar to country, but blues actually progresses. From B.B. King, Hendrix, Clapton, SRV and Gary Moore to Bonamassa, Jack White and John Mayer it's always been changing into various sounds. When you think of country only two things come to mind: Open chords and slurred singing.

  • @correctionguy Yeah i agree but i would throw mayer out due to he trys to be to much like SRV, Country or what is called country now is not country, it is rock music with wannabe rednecks sing bad country lyrics. I mean have of the songs now dont even have a rhyme scheme and that makes it even worse. The actual country artists out get no radio play. Haank III is very country but gets no play, it is sad when Kid Rock is more country then what ao called country artists are now.

  • @johnwaynejohnson Mayer's awesome, he's like an SRV incarnate, it's great that there's someone out there with that same sound and more. It's unfortunate that he's such a douche and turns a lot of people off of him though.

I find a lot of post grunge bands, like Creed and Nickelback, have a country-ish feel. I feel bad for country.

  • @correctionguy even though i am not a huge fan of SRV, Mayer really cant play the guitar near as good

  • @johnwaynejohnson No idea why you would say that, please do explain.

  • @correctionguy mainly speed of SRV playing and never missing a lick, Mayer is more BB King style and slower not saying he is bad just cant hold a candle to a lot of great guitarist.

  • @johnwaynejohnson Speed certainly isn't an indication of ability though, if it were than you would be saying B.B. King couldn't hold a candle to a lot of great guitarists either and I would dispute Mayer being slower, he's a rather energetic blues guitarist. If we wanted speed with accuracy than we couldn't go too far past Dimebag and he was damn bluesy for a metal guitarist. You've also got Friedman and Gilbert, along with far too many people who would be better than SRV.

  • @correctionguy all in all it all came from the blues, but it is come of that b not that changes, BB plays everything basically the same, i am just saying there are many qualities that make a great guitar player, i dont throw SRV in the great category due to everything was basically the same, speed playing through b or e, my opinion i think clapton out does them all and i am not a huge clapton fan, he can play fast, bluesy, and never misses a lick

  • @johnwaynejohnson Not utilising the various modes and keys certainly doesn't make you any worse of a guitar player either. Certainly a good composer would use some interesting chord progressions, but I would have to ask for some analytical examples as far as how good of a guitarist they are.

  • @johnwaynejohnson Personally, I don't think there is much room to say who's better than who when guitarists get as good as SRV, but if you're going to say you don't consider him great then I would assume you've analysed a lot of his music, or on the contrary are yet to make an analysis.

  • @correctionguy i have vast array of music i listen to, SRV is badass but he was set to one style and never ventured out so you really never got to see if he could do anything else, i am a good player but SRV would blow me away, watch Steve Vai, i really do not like just hearing guitar playing with no lyrics but he is by far the best i have ever seen or heard.

  • @johnwaynejohnson You're still not giving an analysis of the music at hand though. Yes, Vaughan died young, but that doesn't dampen what he did do. Vai is also a great player, very fast and technically proficient. Someone who prefers melodious sound as opposed to impressive finger work would probably prefer SRV. There has to be some grounds for agreement that they are both great, otherwise being 1 second faster at scales and arpeggios, without a thought of melody, is better than both of them.

  • @correctionguy The music is the same, he also never wrote anything, everything he played was written and previously preformed by someone else, there was no innovation and i think being a great guitarist is innovation, nothing was never his, Hendrix was not as good of a guitar player what everybody claims, but he was innovative, anyone can put fast solos to already made music, Vai uses his guitar like a voice and there is alot of melody, on hand SRV stayed on the same scale 99%

  • @johnwaynejohnson I don't care if he stayed on it 100% of the time, scales used are not an indication for the skill of the guitarist themselves. Writing music is what a composer does and besides, Lenny and Crossfire among others come to mind. He wrote some great songs. Now, I'm pretty sure revolutionising that dirty blues rock sound of his was rather innovative and he died quite young, so what he achieved is quite impressive for the fact that we never saw him go further than that.

  • @correctionguy he did not write crossfire that was bill carter and others, and actually ZZ top was playing that style before he was, he did some riffs but Doyle Bramhall did the words.I am not saying he was a bad guitar player he just was not original, it actually got worse the further when he started adding keyboards, thanks to Van Halen probably. His solos are not hard to play if you can play blues lead. You just play it faster, And alot of his songs sound the same.

  • @johnwaynejohnson Sorry about that, I meant Pride and Joy, not Crossfire. Lyrics are what a lyricist does.

True, I didn't think of ZZ Top. I guess you're right in that he didn't do anything new to sound and music, but I still doubt that many people today could recreate his playing, to implement the timbre and power he could in his solos to speed is just frightening.

A lot of the songs sound the same to you, but aren't the same any further than compositional structure (1s, 4s and 5s).

  • @correctionguy True no one can bend the strings as hard as he did and completely massacre a fretboard and make it sound good he played it like he hated the instrument and through the amp you could here his wrath.

  • I still get the chills every time I watch this! ..There's tear in my eye.

  • @crazybobdj me to luv this song to i cry every time i hear its crazy.....

  • @saraleigh89 Thanks! My dad is in heaven since 1998. I look forward to seeing him again!

  • This is a great way to hear Hank & Hank Jr. love it

  • Who is that guy who keeps ruining the song? The one in the sunglasses... Hmm.

  • @theoriginaljeffro - That's Hank Williams Jr. The one in the sunglasses.

  • @Hilesmith1 So they are related? Hmm... he didn't get a full dose of his father's genes.

  • @theoriginaljeffro You should compare Hank Williams III to Hank Williams Sr. They look a lot alike.

  • 22 people don't like beer.

  • @brdj010 i didnt say hank williams was an obama fan!!! where did u get that? read what freakinstein69 said FIRST then read my reply to him before you weigh in... you dont have a dog in this fight sooo BYE! dumb ass!!!!

  • Best video ever!

  • they need to remake this video, it was cool then.. imagine what they could now?? thumbs up if you agree!

  • @TheMuenzer This video's the kind of thing that shouldn't be remade, that should be left alone. I can't explain it in any other way.

  • @BlackCowboy9 I agree. I love this video! Sure, they could fix it up and do a remake with a lot more added to it, but that wouldn't make it better. Keep it as it is. It looks like something out of 1989 because it is from 1989.

  • @TheMuenzer One expression we used in the US Navy applies right here. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

  • Still trying to figure out which of the three (Sr, Jr, III) I like best or if it really matters.

  • @davekeays my favorite order would probably go III, Sr, then Jr

  • @theavenginggun So far I'd put Jr in the 1st place but I haven't figured the order of 2nd and 3rd.

  • @davekeays aye man, we all got tastes hahaha.

  • @davekeays It really only matters to you man!!!

  • I have added this to my playlist "Awesome." My latest playlist, High Five*****, the current featured content set of my channel, also contains this peerless video. In fact, it contains five of Hank William Jr'.s aka Kid Rock masterpieces. Hank Williams Jr. represents the best country music and personifies the best in every man.
