  • the intro o yuor video always make me feel inconfortable

  • are you in the associates program or the bsn? im going for my bsn which is a 4 yr program and i would like to know if there is something you recommend i do for better study habits and to be better prepared for the program. what was your gpa when you started program what is it now?

  • Your good looking. Let's go out on a date.

  • Was the TEAS test hard? The pre-test that you have to take before you get into the program.

  • @mishasoul just read the answers first, relax, and wear ear plugs

  • yea... nursing sucks.

  • Did the comprehensive book come with a cd or not b/c I've heard a lot of great reviews on this book and I am seriously thinking of buying it b/c i start nursing school on tuesday of next week and i've read on half, abe, amazon, and a host of other book buying websites and some come with a cd and some don't!! =-]

  • fuck white people always

  • do u have a facebook?

  • would you get to the fucking point!

  • I cannot wait to enter the RN program. I got all A's on my pre-reqs of A&P 1 & 2, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101. My GPA is currently 3.786. I have one question: is there any way to increase your GPA at all, if only slightly? I sacrificed an A on one class to ensure I got A's on my other 3 during last term. Also, I see that pharmacology is going to be a challenge; I best prepare months in advance, then.

  • @lexaeus88 hahahah. getting A's in those classes are easy peasy. get ready for med surg II.

  • Hey my name is josh and im wanting to go to nursing school but i want to keep my job do you have any advice?

  • *blink*

  • Wow. You really have me pegged, huh? Sorry you must have had a bad experience with a nursing professor who actually saw you for the idiot that you are. Sort out the bad nursing student? Damn right.

  • Damn, I'm just as disapointed as you, I thought being a nurse just was walking around with a stethoscope and chart, looking cute and telling everyone "I'm a nurse!" Feces?? Bad smells?? WTF I didnt sign up for this.

  • Please don't tell me that you never had someone tell you stories (aka confessions) of their experiences through nursing school, which included stories EXACTLY like the ones she has just shared. That is the whole heart of a nursing school, is learning from experiences and other "confessions" from others. How else would you learn????

  • This is a very sad and distrube video and should be removed. #1 this is not a confession it is a breech of confidentialty, poor judement for someone who is going to be or already is professional. This is a real embrassment for the profession of Nursing, changing diapers is not just a CNA stuff!! it is a part of Basic Nursing Care etc. I can already tell you are going to be one of those nurses no one want to work with_espeacially CNAs. You need to grow up!

  • first of all "disturbe" is spelled "disturbed"...."confidentialty" is spelled "confidentiality".... "judement" is spelled "judgement".... "embrassment" is spelled "embarrassment" "espeacially" is spelled "especially"... ..... I hope to God you are not a nurse or in nursing school because that would really make YOU the one that is an embarrassment to the profession.

  • Whatever! And your point is? Sorry, but I didn't ask you for your opinion. Mind your own business!

  • WOW! BlueRain you can spell! How intelligent you are. I am amazed. You should go places with your perfected spelling abilities.

  • I didn't even watch all of this.

I am a nursing professor and it is this type of student that makes me want to run into traffic at the end of the day. No, scratch that. It makes me want to run into traffic within 10 minutes of starting clinical.

With an attitude like this you do not need to be a nurse.

Your elitist sense of entitlement when you speak about "basic CNA stuff" is laughable.

    Please quit nursing school.

  • Bunsdent; hunan feces, puss, bad smells, are gross and unpleasant. Hannah's sharing her experience in this video is informative and well said. I have seen your type before. You are one of these science/nurse prof who claims to be the "Firewall" for "Bad Nurses". When in fact you conspicuously sabotage and de-rail students not based on academics but rather your personal feelings, bias's and prejudices. You are going to fill the world with perfect nurses and sort out the bad nursing student .

  • If the world could filter out the bad Nursing Professors, based on your criteria, I am certain you would not be teaching. Prof's like you take the wind out of students who once were motivated and driven and really could be a nurse. Instead, they lose money and precious time dealing with the likes of you. You and your pompous attitude such the life out of prospective nurses and crush dreams. I am a nursing student and you are pathetic

  • I believe just about anyone could become a nurse. With dedication, motivation and commitment to study it is possible. It IS NOT rocket science. It is not a cake walk either. I have dealt with profs like you, who play silly head-games, create tricky exams and bully students. I bet you are tenured where you teach. You have heard every ridiculous question 100 times. It has become a game of power and control for you. You may help a few but you shit on the majority.

  • Bunsdent, soon I will have my RN degree and when I do I shall come find you. Then I will make a copy of the degree and shove it up your ass with a red hot poker. After I put my fist through your face. Stop being a duech-bag, and teach and educate these students. Do your job of teaching, Stop and take a look at yourself and see what you have become...a nasty, tenured, endulgent disgruntled Professor who succombs to his own discontent with himself.

  • @Bunsdent you sound like someone who enjoys having a patient take a projectile shit in your face! is having a shit fetish a prerequisite to being a great nurse in your book?

  • @Bunsdent "professor" huh? What are your credentials? ADN, maybe BSN? What's your role at your program? You sound like you have some resentment against nursing students?

Poor attitudes like your's is why people do quit nursing school because the instructors are terrible and play gate-keeper. Most of my instructors are more focused on their masters degree than teaching. Doesn't one take a pay cut to become an instructor? Makes me wonder...

    Please, quit teaching nursing.

  • Seriously, if you couldn't handle the smell why did you even enroll in a nursing program? The experiences/stories you're talking about are nothing compared to what you will experience on the floor or in foreign nursing schools. And if you were already a nurse, and you posted this blog you would sorta breaching patient confidentiality and you would be either sued or fired. Im guessing you have not yet learned the legalities that comes with nursing. You should begin by reading HIPAA.

  • @iwasnotthere4 speaking of HIPAA, was there any "personally identifiable information" in this video posting? oh yeah thats right, the answer is "no"...so stfu

  • @iwasnotthere4 Considering there was no date, time, pt diagnosis, clinical site, on and on.....you should re-read HIPAA. There is no hint of a violation here. You are one of those people who read into the law too much and have been brainwashed by risk and HR.

  • The unprofessional way in which you speak of the incident with the C diff patient turns me RIGHT off of your blog. You are going to be a nurse. You are going to be dealing with urine and feces and barf and blood and mucous on a regular basis. THIS IS PART OF THE JOB. Were you not aware of this? If I were your patient who had this problem I would be extremely insulted that you spoke about it like this ON THE WEB. I truly hope that none of my family members is ever in your care as a nurse.

  • Thanks for sharing even though your editing sucks. There are parts (like the book) where you cut out. Also the music is really loud and then you speak very quietly. Just some constructive criticisim, don't get me wrong, I like you sharing this with everyone.

  • I am a first year of BN, i find it pretty good, i am very anxious for clinical.. However i am worried that i may not have the stomach. I am determined however and i will finish this course because i really want to help people :)

  • I totally agree on the Pharm flash cards...they are a must have.

  • Hi! I'm just starting my 1st semester of nursing and I'm really excited! I just wanted to say this is a cute video!! and also, where did you get that book what's it's title and where can I get it from?? Thanks alot! Your video's are really cute and give me hope that I CAN do this no matter how hard it is!!! Thanks, Cassie

  • i can totally relate to everything you're saying about nursing school....i'm still there and its the hardest thing ever but i'm having so much fun.

  • LOL at confession #1

  • im starting nursing this year in late august and im reallly nervous that im not going to be good at it or that its going to be extremely hard :( any advice?

  • omg confession #1 makes me not want to be a nurse xD

  • Hey thanks for the video :) I'm studying Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) in Australia, and am in second year.

It's good to see that a student is getting up and sharing their experiences. You have learned a lot in the time that you've been at uni :)

Do you find that if you hear the word "Rationale" you want to vomit? LOL I do!

I'm hoping to get my grad year in general nursing, then do my post-grad in Psych or ED... We'll see!

Let me know how you're going!! :)

  • she is EXTREMELY cute!

  • cool i didn't know that! stumble upon this video by way lol

  • Just took NCLEX, I read 2 different prep books and NCLEX questions had nothing to do with any of it. It is all pharm, and teaching.

  • thank you hanna i have nursing background, i got the opportunity to do a year at a nursing home fell in love with it so i decided to do pre-nursing this summer on line do you have any advice you seem so educated thank you

  • you do not say diaper when dealing with adults....you say pad.

  • She called it a "brief" initially, then called it a diaper to clarify for people watching the video. I was taught to call them "depends", but everyone at the hospitals calls them diapers. And I figure it's okay to call them diapers as long as your not in front of the patient. I personally call them what ever the pt prefers.

  • Thank you so much for creating these videos. I'm considering going back to school to get a second degree in nursing. These videos are a great help.

  • Hello, I was just wondering if you could tell me what that book you were refering to was called, thank you so much can't wait to see more videos.

  • Hannah, your vlog absolutely helps in a personal way. I get good grades but when I go to clinicals and deal with real patients it is so much different. Thx for the vids!

I have a question about 1st semester clinicals: Were you nervous and how long did it take you to overcome it? I just finished my very first rotation (8 visits to TCU). We don't have partners. :( I'm having a hard time getting over thoughts such as, "I don't want to wake them up," "I don't want to interrupt their visitors," etc.

  • Hey hannah!

Thanks again for this great video! I am starting out with my pre req's at a community college and hoping to get nto an accel BSN prog in NJ! Any good advice? I start with A&P 1 this summer.. This thread is so helpful!

  • Hey Hannah. I just recently graduated from Nursing school in December 2008. I just took my boards yesterday..YIKESS. I was laughing when you said the earliest you woke up was at 4:45. Get prepared, the earliest to get up was at 2:45 am to go to a psych clinical. GRR. LOL about the catheters, i concur. It is a lot of hard work, and when it comes to taking boards make sure to take the Kaplan review. IF you want to email me any questions email me and put in the subject box (nursing question)

  • hey how are you i just came upon your website adn was wondering what exactly was the book you were talking about all i heard was comprehensive review

  • Its the prentice hall NCLEX review book...it should be in the discription...on the righthand side of your screen. Its really good. So helpful!

  • Do you have to take the HESI? If so have you started studying for it? I take mine in April. We need an 850, only 2 times to pass.

  • I don't think I do, because I've never heard of it before. We take the NCLEX when we graduate. I have started studying for NCLEX I try to do a handful of questions a day...

  • hey i'm trying to get into nursing school hopfully next fall, do you have any advice about physiology, and micro biology????? and whats the hardest part of nursing school? what do you like the most so far?

  • Physiology was difficult for me...but I got through it, I had to study alot; its straight memorization, and alot of it, like the electron transport chain, or sodium potassium pump which are extremely basic...annoy me. The hardest part is the hours. I get up at times @ 5am and then nursing rules the entire day except for the 20 mins for lunch, and the 1 1/2 hours I am at practice running with the X-C team. Nursing literaly with demand all of your time if you want to do well.

  • I hated when people would come up to me and tell me that nursing is going to rule my life for the next 3 years...and that I was basically signing my life over...it so annoyed me. Its not really like that...but it kinda is. Your life isn't joy-less...you still have fun, and you become really good friends with the people in your classes. Keep me updated!!

  • aah!! i cant wait for nursing school!..im still on my prerequisites all i need is micro and chem :) anatomy 1 and 2 ARE THE hardest classes i have EVER taken...EVER!...BUT i made it out with A's!!..it took 24/7 of studying but i made my A so im happy lol.. i wonder how microbiology will be? hmmmm...

  • Yay!! I'm excited for you! You'll love it! Micro is ok I remember cool lab stuff and the Chem I had to take was organic nursing chem and it was a little tricky. And Yes..you are right, A&P was very very difficult, depending on your professor...but it was unbelievably difficult. Congrats on the A!!

  • @Sandrine1bear Having getting an A on Micro last term, all I can say is that it is a very draining study when also getting an A on APHY 102. These trials are making me a much more experienced student.

  • Thank you so much for making these videos :-)...I was just wondering how you prepared for clinicals...and are you going to specialize in any particular nursing field.. and once againg thanks for making these videos

  • Aw! No problem!! I'm sorry I ever stopped. First semester, when working in the nursing home we didn't prepare at all...just reviewed the basics of CNA stuff the night before or your nursing instructors might give you a little list of objectives they want you to focus on for that specific day; just go back in your health assessment book and review what is on the list. Second semester they have you pick up your patient information the night before.

  • You'll look up the medications you patient is on, look up the diagnoses that the Dr. may have already given, look at the labs that are available to see if they relate to the diagnoses made (ex. high WBC count is consistent with infection, and low WBC count is consistent with cancer treatment).Get a good grasp on what's been going on with your patient and you'll be fine. I found this part fun, just make sure you leave plenty of time to do this ( 3-4 hours) so you can be relaxed and not stressed.

  • Will do ;-) thanks for tip x

  • Cool vid, keep it going, keep yourself going you are the kind of person the nursing profession needs. I am in the UK and going to take the pre-nursing course in Sept then off to university for three years hopefully yayyy.

I wanted to ask what the first week of clinicals were like and was the learning curve steep. I know it varies from setting to setting never mind from country to country but am interested. Oh love the honesty about female cath's heard it's bad on obgyn with prolapse vag xxxx

  • haha! Thanks!! Thats really sweet! The first week was good...my nursing professors ease you in pretty gradually...it wasn't terrible...the second semester, which I will cover in another video soon, is where they expect you to be more independant and know your stuff...always ask for help though!! They would rather you admit you don't know something then you make a error!! Keep me updated! Good luck!

  • nursing students, dont rely on the finalexam 2 get u thru. Myself & others,in the past have said "well @ least i passed w/an 80(which is the minim. @ my school). That isnt a good frame of mind to have.Keep ur grades up & when finals come round u don't have 2 stress 2make a certain grade.Every bit of studing helps,100%.Also dont study when u are sleepy, all u are doing is reading a bunch of words, that is just a waste of sleep.Study one section @ a time & dont move on until u understand the concept

  • Very good advice, friendnhim!

  • MY 1ST TIME n NURSIN I GOT ALL THE WAY THRU MY 3RD SEMEMSTER & HAD NO IDEA THAT I DIDNT PASS UNTIL I WENT TO my POST CONFERENCE & MY INSTRUCTORS TOLD ME THEY COULDNT BELIEVE IT, THEY CALCULATED MY GRADE 4&5 TIMES 2 SEE IF THEY MADE AN ERROR,BUT IT WAS THE FINAL EXAM THAT BOMBED ME.I CRIED RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM.I RE-ENTERED THE PROGRAM FROM WHERE I LEFT OFF & KEPT MY GRADES UP SO THERE WONT BE ANY MORE MISHAPS.NOW IM IN MY LAST SEMESTR. YAY!

  • wow thats horrible...it happened to alot of people this semester...they cried too..right there...horrible, just horrible.

  • the first half of my first semester was long term care.

i am dreading going back to school.

  • Oh I know!!! But we have to get through it....and we will! Keep me updated!!

  • Nice to have seen one of your first new "confessions". Nice work..:)

  • Thanks...I know these will get better...and I just ramble...and say um alot right now...but once the new semester starts I'll do these every clinical day...and remember alot more.

  • geez things I get to look forward to. I start my program in Jan. wish me good luck. I have waited for you to start this series again and I thank you for that. Thank you so much for taking your time to do this. I will keep watching!

  • Good luck! You'll do great! Let me know if you need anything. I'm sorry I stopped...or never even started really...thanks for watching!!

  • Thanks so much for sharing!

  • Oh no problem!!
