I was born and raised in Jersey. The "Jersey Shore" cast is from NYC! Not representative of our home. Also, North Jersey is home to the industrial wasteland that america thinks of. South Jersey is farms, malls, and hicks. Say what you will. Jersey has it's perks in a way, but being from there, I'm not proud. I subscribe to liberal views and freedom, my hometown is superficial and republican/ close minded/ stuffy/ God fearing/ small town minded/ and uneducated. That's why I moved to CA!
My mom grew up in New Jersey/NY and had a blast. I can come up with plenty of 'stinky' states, but NJ is not one of them. Every state has its crappy areas. Though I am not Italian, I am bothered by the vulgar stereotype that is pegged to Italian Americans on TV. Prejudice is bad no matter who is on the receiving end of the stick.

I always recommend people to go look at Garden State as a somewhat better film for understanding New Jersey. W'ere not all bad!

The people on Jersey Shore are from Staten Island New York. The Real Housewives of New Jersey are from a very small percentage of extremely rich people from Franklin Lakes. New Jersey isnt even close to the reality in which the media portrays it. Its like any other state, only Jersey gets exploited more often.

I used to live in NJ (was born there) but now live in Florida. I don't hate the former because it goes above and beyond all the guidos and what not in everything. I'm proud to support Jersey Doesn't Stink.
Oh, and despite the fact that the Garden State Parkway is the busiest toll road in the US, the turnpike there (There are sections that don't stink, fellas!) is somewhat less busier than the one in my current state!

Most of Florida is at least a thousand times more unpleasant in an infinite variety of ways than Jersey will ever be... and we have this awesome rep for being the sunny, beautiful tourist's vacation destination and Spring-Break/ Summer hot-spot. Ask me how many cars go missing every day in Miami, or how many dead bodies are found in coackroach ridden pay-by-the-hour motel rooms. Better yet, just Google the average annual crime stats for the entire state versus Jersey's. Not a pretty number...

That is a VERY small sliver of New Jersey from Exit 12 to the GWB along the Turnpike. People seem to forget that NJ is roughly 8,000 square miles.
