in my underachieving midtwenties existence, 'hipster' is just somebody who is creative and resourceful while surviving. we may have decent jobs, we may not, we might have a BS or a HS diploma, but we're getting by. The word 'pretentious' as a negative is bull, there is simply an assumption that you know what I'm talking about or can at least contribute to a random conversation. I think people would be way more satisfied hating on 'scenesters.'
