  • gotta love the choir

  • @Liamas1980 what do you mean? Besides the fact that ledger over dosed he was a damn great joker he added that....I don't know real psychopath deal ya know?

  • They screwed up when they added Kilmer in Forever. Keaton Rules

  • Why is Reggie Watts in the side videos?

  • Gives me chills every time.

  • 8:04 FTW!

  • Hans Zimmer was great for Gladiator, The Ring, etc...but not for The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight soundtrack had no heart...just the same beat over and over.

  • @JSSTyger Ahah yea. I thought it was only me that thought that. I prefer this one by far.

  • I love jamming to Danny Elfman whilst playing on Arkham Asylum

  • Comment removed

  • the silent guardian......the DARK KNIGHT.

  • anorexic batman symbol

  • I love the vid, but should've called it a compilation album or suite, the actual track descent into mystery is not til the end.haha

  • Like bale as batman, more as wayne, but i loved keaton, the bale films though are just so, real lol

  • As much as I love The Dark Knight, This music is far superior to that of The Dark Knight. They definitely should have kept it.

  • @HEAVYMETALGODS86feb9 Darker my ass. Nolan's films don't compare to the Killing Joke or The Dark Knight Returns. It was just a bunch of overhype coming from fanboys that go all "i think the joker is a pretty cool guy he stabs ppl and is all scarred and isnt afraid of anythin'!"...

It's not a bad movie, it's only overrated. Go and read some Frank Miller's Batman... that's hardcore. Not the Joker going al "Why So Serious?" on everyone's ass.

    Cheers.

  • the first part is up the cathedral, then the last 1:30 or whatever is descent into mystery...i dont hear a penguin theme in here

  • @HEAVYMETALGODS86feb9 Shut up, Troll. You're a poor man's joker. But while you sit there in your one room apartment afflicted with turrets, here's a riddle for you. If you solve it, I might listen to a word you say. I engender confusion I obfuscate all I come in profusion I cause fools to bawl I uproot the supercillious I propigate pain Yet to the punctillious My meanings quite plain even if you percive me you know me not before you can tell me what i have forgot?
  • @bvonbaron Are you talking about having lost or forgot your watch? As the only answer to your conundrum I can think of is time, and the most common representation of time, which you may forget or lose, is a watch. Or should I not take your obscure obfustications at face value?

  • @BelatedCommiseration No, That is incorrect. The actual answer, to spoil it for all the good people of the internet, is a riddle. So there. It's actually quite simple if you think about it. Cio!

  • @bvonbaron Hm...I dunno if the wording of your riddle is actually presented in a way that would justify that answer. For one do riddles 'come in profusion'? Also can a riddle really 'propagate pain' in and of itself? Also the fact that you end by saying you forgot something seems to imply an object via the definate article in the sentence. It was this that led me to believe that it might be an object associated with time. I think the answer of time fits better so I will believe that is the case!

  • @BelatedCommiseration I didn't say that your answer wasn't GOOD or FITTING, merely not correct. Most riddles have a profusion of answers, really. Take this one for example: What runs around a city but never moves?

  • @bvonbaron Lets see...a river? Or maybe plumbing or sewerage?

  • @BelatedCommiseration

Those all could be possible answers. Other answers include, but are not limied to, a wall, a sidewalk, a highway, the city limits and "yo MOMMA!"

Realisticly, any answer can be justified in a riddle as long as it makes sense contextually.

    I.E:

What weighs ten pounds, sits in a tree, and is very dangerous?

  • @bvonbaron you guys are fucking stupid.....try this one whats white, 10 inches and in your ass???? My godamn foot thats what!

  • @1982nachodisease ......................Nope, wrong. And seriously, if you think that a foot is only ten inches then you are REALLY DULL!!!!!

And by dull, I mean stupid. And by stupid, I mean retarded. And by retarded, I mean that it is a miracle that you can evenfunction, much less use a computer, much less type.

  • @bvonbaron you are a fucking moron. my foot is ten inches you dumbass i never said all feet were. your dad sure fucked up when he fucked that hooker you call mom

  • @1982nachodisease Oh, how very clever of you. It's amazing what some people can do with three brain cells.

  • what is the difference with marvel and DC?

  • @quagdude Two different comic publishers :) DC comics is a branch of Warner Bros....but I'll let the experts on here, fill in the rest.

  • This is simply epic for me....paints 1000 words..

  • T BURTON & D ELFMAN THANKYOU 4 YOUR EXCELLENT MOVIES

    & MUSIC SCORES

  • Well man this is the best theme i know, but zimmer is winning me over with his dark ways lol

  • This is probably the best Danny Elfman piece ever produced. I gotta agree, I can't think of any other theme as "The" Batman theme. even though to me it sounds like it was inspired by the 60's Adam West and Burt Ward Batman theme. speed it up or just listen to the underlaying horns near the beginning.

  • tim burton +danny elfman = MASTERPEICE

  • To me, this is THE theme of Batman. I think it just perfectly captures the whole essence of the series and character.

  • Would have anyone minded if Bale was dubbed over by Conroy??? In the suit of course!

  • I listen to hip hop, punk and metal, and i gotta say that this right here is some of the best music ive EVER heard! Danny Elfman is a musical God!!!

  • the chills begin at 7:00

  • Seven people have yet to descend into Mystery.

  • Danny Elfman can write some good music!

  • the "descent into mystery" actually starts at 6:53

  • (thunders...police lights all over the city,,, bats all over the sky... a fuyll moon)...I...am Batman!!!!

  • I for one absolutley LOVE this Batman logo than all the others. It's my favorite because of the extra two points on the tail.

  • Putting in my two cents' worth for Val Kilmer as Batman No.1

  • SI DUDA ALGUNA LA MEJOR PELICULA DE BATMAN Y DEL BATIMOVIL NI SE DIGA ES UN F1, DE POCA MADRE CUANDO LO TRAJERON AL ESTADIO AZTECA, SALUDOS A TODOS LOS FANATICOS DE BATMAN LA PELICULA 1989.

  • this piece is like Mozart G minor compared to the hans zimmer version

  • Thumbs this down if you want but I am going to say it. Vil Kilmer was the best Batman. I didn't really like Keaten all that much, his style was too soft, Vil's Batman was more tough and yet still dark and mysterious. He also played a good Bruce Wayne.

  • @TheLordBatman

I think he was the best Bruce Wayne. And the second best Batman to Keaton.

  • @thegreatcyke4ever We also all know what second is, right? The Best.

  • Can I please have a copy of this track? My daughter wants to use it for a gymnastic floor routine but all the other copies I have found have singing in them... Thanks..

  • @elanora19 Just download this, it's simply easy. Go to a youtube downloading site and copy and paste this url to the downloader and bingo your downloading it.

  • I love, love, love this score. But for me it gets to the peak of greatness from 6:55 to the end.

  • How do i make this a ring tone on my phone ?

  • @ThePhantomLash You have to search it on the internet, unless you want to do it the hard way by downloading this and then editing it. Your call.

  • This isn't Descent into Mystery.

  • this is a compilation of a couple of songs of the original sonudtrack

  • I like the music of Elfman and Zimmer. Both are great composoner, and both themes fit to the film. Elfman will always be the musican who made "my" Batmantheme, but i like Zimmer to. He has something in his music which makes it very powerful and also mysterious. It fits better to the time we have now

  • Keaton è l'attore che, a mio parere, ha impersonato Batman meglio di tutti. E poi dove lo mettiamo Jack Nicholson che è stato un Jocker perfetto. E poi il primo Batman è sempre il migliore. the Pinguino 3

  • GOTTA LOVE DANNY ELFMAN ... the one formula in my life for movies is

Tim Burton + Danny Elfman = Awesomness

  • The thing about the different soundtracks is that they each fit the mood that the movie's trying to set perfectly.

  • This is not Descent into Mystery

  • Great score.

  • very well done,, - wished dark knight was more like this..

  • well also the opening of lego batman

  • Michael Keaton was the best Batman Bruce Wayne by far.

  • burton's films are better than nolan's films. keaton is the best batman ever. kilmer was ok. cloney just sucked balls. bale was alright as batman, but he was better as bruce. conroy is the best voice of batman.

  • "Descent into Mystery" doesn't play until the 6:54 mark in this video.

  • Ugh why'd they have to change the original song in The Dark Knight? They ruined it! This was THE song! Elfman captured it so well & eerily dark as it was supposed to be! And in the Dark Knight it only sounded like something they'd use in the next upcoming (unproduced) Superman movie! This is the best one! Fuck the Dark Knight! Batman Returns is THE BATMAN!

  • elfman was inspired by wagner's tod und das madchen. elfman based his main theme on this (i think)

  • Here's the deal with this theme. Hans Zimmer's theme is nothing in comparison. This is the definitive Batman theme! What really irks me the most about DC is that they made John Williams' theme for Superman the official Superman theme, and licensed it as such. They didn't license Elfman's Batman theme as his official theme.

There is NO comparison between the two. Elfman captured the eerie and mysterious nature of Batman within the first five notes of this masterpiece. Zimmer didn't.

  • @ADayForeverGreen

Absolutely spot on. Each time I hear this all I can think of is Batman emerging from the shadows and beating up 5 or 6 bad guys by himself! This theme should have been licensed. A missed oportunity if you as me. Thumbs up for you man.

  • @ADayForeverGreen What about Goldenthal? >8D~

It's pretty weak but what do you think about it?

  • @ADayForeverGreen i agree highly with you. Elfman caught that menace tone while keeping it silently driven by a somewhat gothicly beautiful background. in other words..the good and dark batman in the form of music translation. but naturally Elfman does this with most of his works lol.

  • @ADayForeverGreen AMEN to THAT!! Elfman is the number 1 Super Awesome Composer. Long Live Batman 1989.:D

  • @ADayForeverGreen i like both themes but danny elfman beats williams any day of the week

  • @ADayForeverGreen I admit that I will always consider this the "true" Batman theme and it's sad that Superhero/Comic book character themes don't come close to being as epic as this was and still is. However, I can listen to Hans/Howards TDK Soundtrack over and over once they finally dialed in to an actual Batman Theme. Not so much with Batman Begins...

  • @alwaysxnever I think this is the best Batman Theme......but Hans Zimer made the scor for the Dark Knight not Batman.....it is a difference

  • @bbmflfe5 Hans Zimmer worked on the Score for Batman Begins as well as The Dark Knight and has stated that he had a psuedo theme that we had for Batman Begins that has been fully realized in The Dark Knight Soundtrack. I'm not sure what you meant by your message my friend. Help me to understand?

  • @alwaysxnever I see the misunderstanding...iwas refering to the to names that are used for batman(also known as the dark knight).....not the movie titles....so i think that the danny elfman score is more batman and that the hans zimmer score is more dark knight....by the way james newton howard usually just conducts and hans zimmer composes the score(zimer once said that "james is there to keep the ideas" hans has"playable".....hope you understand now.....

  • @ADayForeverGreen EXACTLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • @ADayForeverGreen you´re right dude...elfman kickass just with five notes.... C,D,D#,G#,G.... DC must to make this the official theme of Batman!!!

  • @ADayForeverGreen absolutely right but zimmers was still awesome, you cant deny that

  • @ADayForeverGreen i second that!! this score captures everything that the Batman is. although i do think zimmers work was very good, i don't think his score truley captured the nature of batman quite like this does.

  • @ADayForeverGreen The argument carries between the two directors, actors and the dyad of films from each side: the mysterious and remote nature of the character is the point of Burton's vision, whereas Nolan creates a Nietzschean tract that is full of expository dialogue. The mystery is gone in Nolan's vision, and people appear to prefer that.

The key irony is that the complexity and conflict of Keaton's Wayne is nowhere to be seen in the new version; Bale's, sadly, a cypher in his own films.

  • @ADayForeverGreen I would almost agree with you if not for the theme from "Mask of the Phantasm".

  • Keaton is the best Batman.

Bale is the best Bruce Wayne.

Conroy is THE voice of Batman.

  • @sxerunner Someone needs to put that film together

  • @sxerunner Michael ironside does a terrific batman voice.

  • @sxerunner Imagine if they got Keaton as batman, Bale as Bruce and Conroy to overdub the voice.

  • @BillyCauseyjr I prefer Vil Kilmer as Batman in my opinion.

  • @sxerunner f*n AGREED

  • @sxerunner

Bale only seems better than Keaton as Wayne because he was given more to do. If Keaton had had scripts that explored Bruce Wayne more in-depth, then he'd have been up to it.

  • @sxerunner Conroy HATED Bale's voice portrayal as Batman.

  • @Frisby2007 So did I for that matter. The best Batman in my opinion was Vil Kilmer.

  • i tottally agree with you.. good choice of picks

  • @sxerunner

Couldn't of said it better myself.

  • @sxerunner A very true statement

  • @sxerunner id agree with that. Well said.

  • @sxerunner could not have said it better myself sir.

  • @sxerunner Agreed on all three!

  • @sxerunner Nobody has quite hit the nail on the head with how they perceive the Best out of the Batman's in existence. But you, my friend, completely understand!

  • @sxerunner The german animated Batman speaker sounds really better.

  • @Greenchrissi better than conroy? I've got to google THAT!!!

  • @Greenchrissi I'm listening to a german dubed version of BATMAN TAS right now.... the german guy is good but... doesn't strike me as a winner over conroy;

nope, I definitely have to disagree

  • @sxerunner hear hear brother!

  • @sxerunner just like nicholson the best joker and mark hamil the best voice of the joker

  • @sxerunner with all due respect, I'd say Keaton is the best Wayne, while Bale is a better Batman. Simply cause by looking at Keaton you can't even begin to suspect he's the Batman. Bale is more kickass (choreography has improved along with special effects in action flicks over the years I believe is the reason) and sticks to the "don't kill" idea (I like that aspect more than the times Batman was actually killing people in early comics)

  • @sxerunner Actually,Christian Bale is the best Batman...

  • @DanielBS240 Bale sucks with that gargly throat cancer voice sound. he is worse than Clooney.

  • @DanielBS240 Bale sucks with that raspy gargly, voiced, throat cancer sounding Batman. Bale is worse than Clooney.

  • @DanielBS240 YEPPIE KA YAY MOTHERFUCKER I HAPPY YOU THINK SO IT IS TRUE ART OF A EVEN MORE DARKER BATMAN DONE RIGHT AS A FILM AND DC COMICS AND THERE FORTH PERFECTIONALLY EPIC

  • @sxerunner And Adam West is all that campy crap everyone doesn't really need.

And Burt Ward got Robin. Just saying.

  • @sxerunner the only most badass BATMAN MOVIES are out there is the anime BATMAN love MARK HAMILL as THE JOKER cant wait for the next new BATMAN GAME looks badass and all so the 1989 BATMAN and BATMAN BEGINS and BATMAN DARK NIGHT and the NEXT NEW EVEN VERY MORE DARKER ACTION OF A BATMAN MOVIE THATS GOING TO KICK ASS AND CHEW BUBBLE GUM AND BATMAN IS ALL OUT OF BUBBLE GUM I LOVE ALL MY MOST BADASS COOLEST SUPERHEROS AND MY DC COMICS IT IS TRUE ART OF BATMAN THAT IS JUST PURE EPIC

  • The description is TOTALLY wrong. There is no Penguin Theme in this arrangement. The last two minutes are specifically "Descent Into Mystery"

  • Trying to compare Burton's Batman with Nolan's Batman is like trying to compare Heath Ledger's Joker with Jack Nicholson's Joker (Very hard). Both directors did very different takes on Batman.

    Burton: Dark and surreal

    Nolan: Dark, gritty and realistic

I generally prefer Burton's Batman because the Nolan films feel more like crime dramas than Bat-movies, and also because I am slightly biased towards Burton's visual style.

  • also you can compare hanz zimmer´´s music with danny elfman´s the music ,on the recent version, it doesn´t has that touch, you know, it doesn´t fits perfectly with the narrative, it´s not recognizable when you hear it

  • Esta creación de Elfman es una de mis grandes favoritas.Sobre todo la secuencia partir del 6:54.Genial.

  • For me Michael Keaton is the one and only Batman ;) and though Hans zimmers theme for the new batman movies are sure epic but it doesnt come close to this masterpiece!

  • AMEN to that.

I am a huge Batman fan, but the new movies by Nolan don't do anything for me. Keaton is the ultimate, although I love Kevin Conroy's voice in The Animated Series. And Elfman wrote the ultimate Batman music, cannot be topped!

  • Not gonna lie this music makes me miss the old batman compared to the new one...

  • best batman theme and movie ever made. ty Tim Burton and Danny Elfman

  • Zimmers score is more umm EPIC and action packed, Elfman is good at the mystery and darkness I guess

  • Magnificent splendid, I cannot believe this. On my knees for once.

  • Where can i find the Batman 1 & 2 movie soundtrack download

  • from wich batman film is the sound

    beginning @ 6:53 ?

    !HELP!

  • with the 1992 penguin theme( at the last two minutes) thats means from 6:25 to 8:25

    = )

  • @maninscratch

From 1989...Check the 1st Related Video...

  • this is "descent into mystery" track 10 from the original 1989 Batman movie!

  • All this talk of comparing Keaton to Bale and Elfman to Zimmer is pointless. Chalk and cheese. Tim Burton's take was much more fantasy, therefore the score suits it. This score simply would not work with Christopher Nolan's take on the Dark Knight, thus Zimmer's score is perfect for his interpretation.

    Simple.

  • I don't get the so-called genius in Zimmer's score. Most of it was that long held out blare and then a second blare. I just didn't see it.

  • Lol Agreed. It works very well with the film however; the sound wasn't exactly "genius".

  • Well being as Batman isnt real and its fantasy.. and Tim Burtons Batman is more fantasy it sticks more to the material than what Nolan is doing. Thus Tim Burton makes this masterpiece of a movie with a masterpiece score from Elfman. Nolans CSI Batman is alright but i rather get lost in Tims and Dannys work of Batman. Its not genius its PERFECTION

  • Perfection? Have you read a Batman story in the past 25 years? Nolan is dead on with the modern character. Batman Returns was horrendous. Burton destroyed the Penguin character.

  • i may have not read alot of the Batman stories but i have a friend and i asked em to do his honest opinion on wether or not Nolan does follow the story 100 percent n he said no. He told me a bunch of minor things were added and changed. If anything if you go back to the original Batman.. he used a good n he would shoot ppl i think.. not that You really see Batman kill someone in Tim Burtons movie.. you just assume he did. Either way masterpiece by Tim with Joker Batman and Penguin.

  • i meant gun not good*

  • Nolan took the characters and settings and did his own vision of the films. He missed out a few vital things with Bale's Batman. Such as his smarts, not that he's not smart he's just not as smart as the Batman in the comics. In the comics, Batman is a clever guy who uses science and technology in his war on crime (by that I mean he actively researches by himself the means to fight crime) whereas in the nolan movies he always goes to Lucius for help and technology. Nolan's Batman definitely...

  • You say Bales Batman is brutal cause of the training that was shown and his fight scenes with multiple foes at a time.. i thought Tim Burtons Batman faced all sorts of opponents all laid to waste by Batman.. Tims Batman didnt have a lot of people to fight at the same time but he really didnt need to as he did he laid them to waste fast like in the cartoon and comics... Tims Batman had more style and stayed dark and mysterious how the character should really be.

  • @jimsicle Well said, thumbs up!

  • @TheLordBatman Thanks bro :)

  • @jimsicle You're most welcome.

  • ...excels mostly at fighting and just relies on Lucius for his toys. This is by no means a bad thing, Nolan's Batman movies are masterpieces and they're not adaptations of any story arcs in the comics. In short, both are good Batmen in their own way! You can't top how brutal Bale's Batman is :)

  • Nolans Batman wasnt bad it was better than the last few but no way better than Tims. Nolans Batman was more of a brute and rich cocky guy, to me those areas shined the most than the other acting Bale did. Like the guy had no brain when it came to handling the joker i found that very hard to swallow. Never the less Nolans Batman movies are ok for times for now where generations are used to crap films. I in no way find Nolans Batman dramatic csi almost oriented movies any where close to amazing

  • dont be dissin danny devito

  • i know just the other day i was reading a comic with the penguin in it and my sis said why does he have 5 fingers and not flippers ..lets just say it took me hours to tell her it was just for a movie and a cartoon show ...

  • @timthegem think about it this way, the penguin was kind of dull as what he was in the original series... in order to make a movie featuring him you had to change something, really all they changed was they made him into a freak rather than a gentleman... so yeah he's different, but batman returns wouldn't be one of my favorite movies if it wasn't for it's version of the penguin

  • Keaton did the best Batman bar none,Kilmer and Clooney were cheesy at best,Bale's Batman has as much depth of character as Pamela Anderson in Barb Wire lol, however I did like Terminator Salvation a lot.

  • Personally, I think that Kevin Conroy is the best Batman by far.

  • I see Keaton's Batman is darker than Bale's, a tormented hero, less action-oriented.

  • No way in hell Bale could be a better Batman than Keaton,Keaton had Batman down to perfection,I haven't even gone out of my way to see any of the Batman films after Keaton dropped the role,I saw those when they came on TV,they weren't worth the trip to the theater or the price of admission.

  • keaton really wasnt amazing, val kilmer was good, bale is what batman really was tho

  • Keep on dreaming, Bale is a good Batman, Keaton was a great Batman, his voice alone blows Bale's crappy horrible voice away...do you see any Keaton/Batman parodies on Youtube, no, but you find plenty about Bale's Batman voice.

  • A supreme masterwork by this wonderful composer.

  • Elfman's theme is one of the big reasons why Batman (1989) was such an amazing film. This music is timeless and ranks right up there with the Superman and Star Wars themes.

  • bale is way better for his action how he just plows through guys. but he needs to take that voice down a notch so we can at least understand him. he did it ok in the first one. but dark knight i could'nt understand what the fuck he was saying

  • Totally better than the newer themes that seem like only two note themes, dum DUH, like that

  • best movie theme. no words to describe it

  • I love those eternal struggles about who is the better Batman!LOL That is a matter of personal opinion and can be argued about fo eternety! Wile we are here, why not just enoy the phantastic music?

  • no way Keaton is a way better Batman and doesn't have that stupid voice of Bales.

  • best b-man theme ever for all time!!!!!

  • agreed, it really captures the dark brooding nature of batman and the antics of joker

  • Whats the song called that starts at 6:55

  • On the soundtrack, it is listed as "Descent Into Mystery"

  • Descent Into Mystery

  • 1992 penguin theme

  • The main MAIN BATMAN theme when he and vicki are in the batmobile escaping jokers men in the woods and head to his lair.........................AWSOME SONG and SCENE. BATMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think bale is the best bruce wayne and keaton s the best batman. as far as the score goes elfman owns this hans and howard did a wonderful job but its nowhere near as iconic as this score

  • Yep, Danny sure set the bar far too high, even for himself. The Batman theme is one of his best songs.
