I never understood this tradition that Greeks have of throwing glasses or dishes on the floor during dancing or singing. What is that suppose to represent for them. Any Greek can explain this to me.

They throw glasses or dishes to honor the people dancing on the floor...in the old times they used to throw knives on the floor, but it was too dangerous and they switched to glasses and dishes...

Excelente película dirigida y protagonizada por Jules Dassin, quien acaba de fallecer. Melina Mercouri, la protagonista femenina, se casó con él y luego fue Ministra de Cultura en Grecia. Ella murió en NY en 1994, víctima de cáncer, J.Dassin era oriundo de Brooklyn.

El baile en el que se estrellan las copas contra el suelo es típico de Grecia.
