@SydStuart The theme song was a Big Star tune covered by Cheap Trick, although Ben is somewhat well known for writing the themes to 3rd Rock From the Sun and now Big Bang Theory. He also had a funny song called "7 Days Without Love Makes One Week (Weak)"
If you're gonna manetion Big Star & That 70's show, also should mention that thesong "Thirteen" was in about 2 or 3 episodes, as was "I'm in love with a girl". Somebody at that definitely knew how to sneak in the cool...
supposedly there is a big star movie in the works/post-production that when issued on dvd will include 'extras' with all the footage that exists of the band from the 70s!
Big Star's awesome, does anyone know if that's Jody on drums? He's got a lot of energy, so unless Jody's just been beating his drum set every day since Big Star broke up, I think that's a different drummer. And plus I was there this summer, and now I'm dissapointed I missed them...
Okay, I've just seen older drummers who are very lazy and don't drum as well as they used to. I wish we could track down footage of the lineup with Chris Bell playing. Does anyone have that footage?
The only footage of them with Chris (and only footage OF Chris) is a short film they made for #1 Record, basically a filmed accompaniment to the record... it exists somewhere, don't know if we'll ever be able to see it though!!

but actually i don't think anybody knows big star wrote it, unless they're a fan of the band already. the show played like 20+ big star songs in various episodes throughout it's run but i haven't met one person who was turned on to them that way.. go figure!
...Big Star film...saw a trailer for something cool months ago but don't know any more at the present..

Big Star wrote 'Out in the Street', the theme song of That 70s Show (the version used in the show is a cover of the song by Cheap Trick).
