the pilot held the plane above ground because what happens is called ground effect... its what keeps the plane floating for a bit because the air rolls off the wings and hits the ground, propelling the plane slightly upward, causing it to float in a way until the plane falls

I just did this yesterday, on a B752 from Thomas Cook, 4 and a half hours from Newcastle we had a nice landing too

alex10340, do u no what airline u r goin with coz if u r going with First Choice, Thomas Cook, Monarch or Thomson u r more likely 2 go on a boeing 757 or an AirbusA320,A321

Alex, in answer to your question you will most likely be flying on a b757 but you could even posibbly be flying a b737-8/900. ! :)

Please tell me what plane you do fly seeing as i would like to find out :)
