According to the album liner notes, the song is based upon the book, "Fungus the Bogeyman", creatures who lived in dark, damp places, and referred to people on the surface as "dry cleaners".
@ter521fad, that is too bad. Paul could really rock any show to the ground with this funky song. Then again, it is not as if he cannot do so with his many other hits. I had a friend who said McCartney II was her absolutely favorite album from the Mac. She always danced to this song. I can see why, too. The beat is just wild.
@sandinyourshoes Here's an idea. If you ever see McCartney live and you get a seat with a real good view of the stage, hold up a sign that says 'Play Bogey Music, Paul!" I doubt he'd remember the song, but you never know.
@ter521fad, that would be a scream! The thought of it is so fun, too. I would be fall to pieces whether Paul did or did not remember the song. The "Bogey Beat" is hard to resist. I know my friend would still dance her brains out if she were listening to this song again.
great!! i love you!! Paul!!

This. A strange ode to rock n roll, but not the best on the album.

Agreed. Those are some of the best off the album. Waterfalls and Summer Day Song are also some of the best here, imo.

My comment is equal to the guitar lead played throughout the song....

My favourite bit of this song has always been the first note hit on the lead guitar solo thing.

With the echoe effect it is similar to Elvis Presleys early work for sun records like "Blue moon of Kentucky"

It's inspired by a book called 'Fungus the Bogeyman'. Bogeymen HATE music.

Very true! This is some of Paul's best, but I wonder if he ever does this song live.

@sandinyourshoes To my knowledge, I don't think he's ever done this live. Don't think he ever will.
