I'm sure Squeenix just remade it onto the DS because they couldn't think of any ideas for new games...so they were probably like "Let's 'remake' an old game! Because we know the fans of Chrono Trigger will totally buy it!!". So without having to put much thought in a game, they made craploads of money.

Makes me slightly sad since this game was really fantastic...sigh.

The fanbase for this game has grown tremendously over years. So therefore the made it for the ds and ps1 ect. Well there you go. What do you say about that? Take a look at FF13. It was supposed to be a PS3 exclusive game, but guess what? They surprise everyone at E3 by releasing it to Xbox as well. Why? Larger fanbase = more money :P

Actually Squaresoft originally made some Final Fantasy movie...

It got really poor reviews, and they lost a lot of money making it. They almost went bankrupt, and as a result, merged with Enix. It's funny, after the merge, they never had anymore real 'amazing' games...or perhaps they just exhausted the idea of an RPG (since pretty much all the games they ever made were RPGs lol). Anyways...

Why remake perfection? CT was one of the greatest RPGs of all time. Instead of re-making it they should be working on sequels to wrap up the loose ends left from Chrono Cross. So in otherwords, a sequel to CT, but a prequel to CC....all in one game.

This is what I would do if I was remaking Chrono Trigger. Make the story longer, simply add onto the story in a way add in game play time and compliments the good parts in the story such as heading up against Magus, encountering Queen Zeal, many of the side quests, and leaving Guardia Prison. Make the graphics keen like the CG scenes, but for the gameplay. Add in new abilities like an AP system for attacks and special attacks, limit breaks, limit combos, and more spells.

CT is one of the best RPGs of all time! An excellent storyline, amazing graphics (for it's time), and a great battle system! It also made you think, using clues from people from ALL eras to figure out where to go next.

The only reason you might not like this game was if you ran through it with a guide, not paying attnetion to the story. That was the most compelling part of the game. It was emotional, motivating, and altogether pure awesomeness! I LOVE CT!

I thought it was too easy and childish (no offense to those who like it). I had just finished Final Fantasy 6 and was expecting more of the same but, no go. This conversion is a staright port from the snes. The cinematics are from an unreleased fan made game called Chrono ressurection which was stooped by a law suit fro squaresoft.

This is just a straigh port. I should know I have this on the DS. (Flash card)

The translations fixes are ported as i patched my snes chrono trigger with the correct typo's long ago.. Square could have re-disigned the engine instead of adding a quick vs system and making a couple new dungeons. I wouldn't pay for this as not much effort was put in "THIS" version. Thoe chrono Trigger is one of the best games ever made I see it as a quick conversion to cash in. I could run chrono trigger with ps1 sequences on PSP for gods sake! This is nothing but a port..really!

Chrono trigger resurrection wasn't an official project, it was made by fans and they wanted to give the game for free when it was completed, square enix sued them for copyright infringement so they stopped the project forever.

Getting into the DS version and my second point, Square thinks its great to not do shit with the project except 'remake' it for the DS. Quite frankly, the idea is stupid. But I guess there's no stopping square and it's retarded ways of doing business; the DS version will not offer anything in particular that can be much different from whats already avalible in the PS version. Yes you can take CT with you, everywhere you go; at the price of a DS and the game itself.

Until I see a CT made in 3-D, I wouldn't expect much from it at all. If you ask me, it should be remade for the PS3 and the Wii (exclude the 360; it blows). It's cool and all that the game is coming to the DS, because now the game is in the market again and not hard to get anymore.

But the graphics may be hard to accept for some because several years have passed and the graphics has evolved as well.

I'm not saying the graphics are everything. The story, music, characters can make a game awesome as well, and that happened with Chrono Trigger. Better graphics would only make it better, but without it, the game is still awesome.

I'm so glad that they put those 3d scenes in there from resurrection,because maybe it will bring some attention to it. Square ruined it. It was to be a great re-make, but square issued a S&D because it would somehow cut into their profits, even though it was going to be released for free... I'm calling for an internet rally to bring it back! Chrono Trigger is the greatest RPG ever, and deserves as many platforms as it can. I don't really know what platform resurrection was on though. Resurrection wasn't being made by SE. It was a fan made production. But then SE cancelled it (bastards).
