Why does everyone think that this is a move down for him? This is a different type of racing respectively. This is wrong. Travis Pastrana deserves to race F1 and show up all the Europeans, Asians, and Brazilians; he shouldn't have to stoop to the level of NASCAR.

Why does everyone think that this is a move down for him? This is a different type of racing respectively. Both are pretty exciting to watch in their own ways you just gotta realize that what racers are doing is pretty bold. So many guys are gay for Travis lol. @YUBU8 - That's absolutely ridiculous, high as it gets.....let me remind you that ALMS > NASCAR in skill levels.....3/4 of the drivers in NASCAR couldn't come close to an ALMS driver and if so, name a Le Mans winner who was driving a NASCAR in the same season in the past 30 years!! Geez, even Travis could've gone to Grand Am and made a real impact racing against some internationally renowned drivers, not against 1/2 the rednecks in North Carolina which is all he will face in NASCAR.

@MafiaboysWorld as much as i like those series and how those drivers are talented its not a step above or close too nascar interms of money, audience and class. you can take a oval driver and have him become a good road racer (evidence by carl edwards who beat micheal shumacher in ROC 2008, but you cant take a good road racer and turn him into a good oval racer as evident by juaq villanuove

@anthonystuart69 - Mario Andretti is over 30 years ago. ;) Now as for internationally renowned drivers being up at the highest level.....the only ones in that list you've put down would be Jacques & JPM. I'm Australian and even I don't consider Marcos Ambrose to be internationally renowned yet. Yes, he won our V8 Supercar title, but that's it. He hasn't made a dent in NASCAR yet. JJ is good because of the team, that's it. Tony Stewart, same story. (continued next comment).

@YUBU8 - ROC is an exhibition and pretty much has been for it's entire existence.....for years it's been an excuse for the drivers to muck around in cars that they wouldn't normally be driving. I mean, Troy Bayliss (former SBK champ) was beating people with that KTM X-Bow last year, does that mean he's better than them? Nope. Besides, If you really think that Carl Edwards can properly hang with Schumacher in a real race than you must be insane.

@YUBU8 - Not denying that Carl can't drive dude, he wouldn't be fighting for NASCAR titles otherwise, but Schumacher always considered the ROC to be a bit of fun to him, that's all. Also, don't group me with the muppets who say "oh NASCAR drivers only go in circles!!" because you guys don't just go in circles, I've seen the action they get into at Infineon and the other rare times they get to go on road courses, it actually makes for good racing.

@anthonystuart69 - Sam Hornish Jr., bzzz, couldn't hang in IZOD, that's why he's in NASCAR. Papis drives DP's primarily more than the NASCAR. Boris Said is okay because he drives ALMS primarily, but no champion and Patrick Carpentier....please, less said the better. Compare that to the list of people from ALMS & Le Mans who kick ass such as Geoff Brabham, Tom Kristensen, Allan McNeish, Alex Wurz, Marc Gene, Jan Magnussen, Emanuele Pirro, Pedro Lamy, all of them beat what NASCAR has to offer.

@YUBU8 - Then why aren't they competing at Le Mans then? Once again, I'm not saying they can't drive, just the level jump from a NASCAR to a full ALMS car is a big one. It's not like you're going from Indycar to F1 or Vice Versa (like Nigel Mansell, Michael Andrett, JPM, Dario Franchitti or Alex Zanardi have done for example), , , or from V8 Supercars to NASCAR (as Ambrose has done).

@MafiaboysWorld Stewart had immense success in indycar as well, outrunning respected teammates in the same equipment by as much as 10 mph in the corners at indy. sam hornish is a three time indy car champion and an indy 500 champion. Carpentier was a perennial front runner in CART. Johnson is beating teammates in supposedly the same equipment by a wide margain, you can't tell me that a four time champion is there just because of his team, or else why isn't Massa a four time champ?
