Brought back some memories as when I was a kid this railway ran past the end of our street just outside Bellville. Do you have the bit of film that would be just before this segment, as I'd like to see if I can recognise our old 'spotting' place? We used to run down the street when we heard the 24's and 19d's working out on a goods shunt, etched forever into a 12 year-old's mind!
@KasparOnTube south africas natonal rail gauge is 3 foot 6 inches which would be considered narrow gauge by most, the reason south africa has to use this gauge is because it's cheaper and easier to work with around the mountainous terrain of south africa.
@KasparOnTube the track gauge is 3 foot 5 inches which is standard gauge in south africa becouse when the original railways were built the narrow gauge allowed the lines to snake round mountains easier and cheaper
@01lawsda - Great videos. I have downloaded the torrents but it will like take a year for it to get to me. Any chance i can get a copy form you i dont mind paying for the dvd's and postage.
i do still have the cab ride videos on my computer but unfortunately cannot convert and transfer them to dvd, BUT if you really want them, then you can find/get a usb memory stick or equivalent, even a psp memory card could do!. once you have got a memory device, just send it to me, i'll put it on the device and send it back, but be warned, if you use this method, the device will need to be able to hold a LARGE amount of memory, upwards of 10 gigabytes
the downloading should not take as long as a year because the speed changes as more torrent users who already have this video come online, i have my torrent downloader on all the time and the torrents are always seeding so at least you always have 1 download source.
the full video is available on the net but you will need a torrent client (downloader) to get it, i would recommend bittorrent or vuze, they don't take much memory space and are extremely useful
the first thing you would need is your torrent client ready and then just google trains.cabride.matjiesfontein.to.capetown, it should come up with a number of sites but the easiest to use is piratebay, when you have fund the torrent it should appear in 4 parts all about 1.5 hours long
after you have saved it on your computer just double-click the torrent files or select open with the browse for your torrent downloader and wait, it might take a while but will be worth it, i'm currently downloading parts 1-3 but what you see on my clips are all on part 4, Dal josefaat-cape town
i have alot more cab ride clips but all from the same journey, so it might be best to follow the instructions i left for prentonpimp on this comment page, hopefully i will have some british cab rides coming soon e.g. keynsham-bristol temple meads (my local service!).
