I can do all of that I have been longboarding for 10years now.

I like gadgets and and electric skateboard is a cool fun thing to toy with. Plus the looks you get when you are going uphill on a skateboard without pumping.

I like the motor one better because it has brakes.

I ride my non-powered daily to and from class and my job. The Powered one weighs 50lbs so its pain to lug around. I just use it as a sunday rider.

With the wheels I ride on my Landyatchz being with a 72a durometer It isn't easy to push the tail out. Plus I don't bring my riding gloves on when ever I go riding. When I do want to slide I can put on much harder wheels but they aren't as comfortable on my average day to day riding.

So no, longboards don't have brakes unless you consider sliding or dragging foot brakes.

My powered board has brakes with the electric motors just push the trigger forward

Foot braking efficiency is nothing compared to the brake on an electric skateboard.

Even though the general impression of my electric skateboard from the skating community isn't good all you need to do is ride one and it will bring a smile to your face. The thing is balls out fun

Ok, so maybe it's fun, although it doesn't represent longboarding, you know quiet, bombing hills, you know it kind of ruins the natural part of longboarding without a motor, but yes I do agree they would be fun.
