the american version sucks sometimes, cause why do one cut away the bad words he is saying? it is not like this program is suiteable for kidz anyway so why cut it.
'This is my house and he's embarrasing me'? You poor f*ck. Don't open a restaurant, then. These people pay for their food! They should be handled like kings!
Y'know, its SO damn obvious, but it seems a common theme among most resteraunteurs and even chefs that are on this program, they don't have a clue what their competition is -- They don't routinely go out and sample the food in other fine dining resteraunts they are supposedly competing against, so they have NO idea how their standards compare. How can you POSSIBLY succeed in a business that's so dependent on customer satisfaction when you don't know how you rate?
he always orders same dishes, since watching this show, I have never gotton a decent meal when eating out, never noticed how crappy most food is, when served, tonight, was no exception, Farmer Boys fresh my ass!
Yes. All Americans are just like those featured on FOX TV. Did you know that the producers actually go out of their way to get normal people, who aren't at all confrontational? It's just those damn British! They bring out the worst in the Americans! And Gordon Ramsay is such an average and pleasant person, it's amazing that people get so angry at him.
goto an appliances store that cater for professionals and restaurants and they will look, i think the style that make and colour makes it easy 2 clean/ efficient fast cooking or something
A lot of common British insults (tosser, wanker, twat) are meaningless in America, so it's understandable that they lose their effect. It's the same thing as using Australian curses in Britain--it doesn't make sense to you, so it's not offensive!
There are lots of places in America that are still very conservative. Particularly those who don't live in the big cities. You're country on the other hand is probably the most liberal country in the world or somewhere on that list.
I think people are over-reacting in the comments here. It's fox, a public channel, of coarse the swearing is going to be bleeped. At least they didn't cut the scene out completely. So stop complaining :D
well a lot of americans don't like the way they dumb things down, but we need our gordon fix too. hell's kitchen makes him look like a psycho - they don't balance it with his genius
Why do they have to keep telling the audience what they're meant to be feeling? Do we really need a bit of comedy music when the waiter admits he's chewing gum?
No, its much more than that. Sure Gordon narrates the original one, and they have some American narrate the other one. But on the original he seems to spend more time with the staff. He seems to really work with them to help them get what is wrong with the place and how to change, and make the changes last.
Its the fact the series is made for the attention deficiet. Those cut-aways to staff interviews repeating exactly what you saw less than a minute ago, then getting repeated five or six times over. Everythings horribly over-laboured and takes away from the simple fact of improving a business. Curious thing, every kitchen in the US one are absolutely horrendous compared to even the worst UK one.
Not surprised. No offense to the patriots around here but when smething gets made for American TV, it becomes suckier than the original. They try to change the formula thinking that it'll make a better or more suitable product for the audience. But it becomes shitier insitead. They did it with Iron Chef. Now they're doing it with Kitchen Nightmares. Ir's still bearable though, just cuz Gordon's anchoring the show.

on dutch television nothing get's censored, not even on public channels. it's just american prudishness. that's why it's been bleeped.
P0L0K0P 3 years ago 3
They censor it cause they don't want the kids hearing those words. Or at least that's what I assume is the reason for censoring.
franzd03 3 years ago
apperantly we don't worry so much about that.

There are plenty of dutch prudes too they just don't get hung up on language like the evangelicals over here do. It's a minority but a vocal one.

The UK programme is about inspiration, in the USA series they just seem to chcuk $20,000 at them for new kitchens, furniture, exterior signs etc
